You may want to have a look at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#New_messages_bar - there was recently yet another kerfuffle about people putting fake message bars on their pages. Also of note is Wikipedia:UP#Simulated_MediaWiki_interfaces. Friday (talk) 22:30, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Quality of edits

Many of your edits to these articles seem to be superfluous and could be accomplished in one step. Counting simple copyediting, using multiple edits for adding a references section, etc., these edits should be combined into one page change.

While you are doing a good job so far on the references, I ask that you add more info to articles that you work on for WP:AWC. For example, TicketMan has done a ton of work on articles I have given him barnstars for through WP:AWC. I ask that the quality of your work be close to his when taking on future AWC challenges. --Sharkface217 01:42, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I look forward to your increased efforts. Also, I cannot award you for those 100 warns because the anti-vandalism challenge that I offered at AWC specifically states that you had to sign up there first. This rule was put into place to prevent barnstars from being awarded on vandal warns that were issued before a user became aware of the challenge. Sorry, dude. --Sharkface217 02:00, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Good luck with it. I'm sure you'd be able to rack up the warns pretty quickly. --Sharkface217 02:08, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Article

You could work on Battle of Gondar, and for it, I will award barnstars for the same number of edits. Dreamy § 03:00, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I will accept that too. Dreamy § 03:12, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Vandal

I blocked the vandal for three days.   jj137 17:47, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

It keeps giving me a failure notice for some reason. I don't think it would have mattered anyway because you should have the attachments from the download.   jj137 17:53, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cambell john poster.GIF)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cambell john poster.GIF. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:24, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:Black hole quasar NASA.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. My RfA

Hey there, I'm writing to inform you that I have withdrawn my request for adminship, which was currently standing at 11 supports, 22 opposes and 6 neutrals. This count could have been so much better if I had understood policy, although I believe that 17 questions is a lot to ask of a user's first RfA. I will take on all comments given at the RfA and will endeavour to meet the high expectations of the RfA voters. WEBURIEDOURSECRETSINTHEGARDENplay it cool. 20:58, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Pats won!

Woo hoo! I'm going for the Packers. I'd like to see 18-0 vs. Brett Favre

Yes, some of the nominations were going well, and then they went rather disastrous.   jj137 00:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Here's what WP:FPC says: For promotion, if an image is listed here for about seven days with four or more opinions in support (including the nominator), and the consensus is in its favor, it can be added to the Wikipedia:Featured pictures list. Note however that anonymous votes are generally disregarded, as are opinions of sockpuppets. If necessary, decisions about close candidacies will be made on a case-by-case basis.   jj137 00:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I supported that picture. It may help to eventually re-upload some of those without the little "numbers" at the bottom. :)   jj137 00:24, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm really unsure of that.   jj137 02:15, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

The "your mean" one? I know! I deleted an article they created that was obviously spam.
You're right, great game! I really want the Packers to win this.   jj137 02:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
...Which is the reason I want the Packers to win. (And because of Brett Favre)   jj137 02:27, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Images

  • Image 1 might be very similar to an actual FP; I remember voting on another picture that I think passed that had Enterprise on the back of a Boeing.
  • Image 2 has some focus issues; it probably wouldn't pass
  • Image 3 is decent, I personally think it's encyclopedic value outweighs its minor blur
  • Image 4 is technically messy due to the lighting. Nobody can tell what the object is because it's just a streak of light in the sky.

Hope I was helpful. --Sharkface217 03:14, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I suggest you try to get Image 3 through FPC. I do not know if images on commons that are FPs can be here, but I assume that it is possible. --Sharkface217 02:19, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Stick it in articles relating to the big building in the background (name slips my mind at this moment, sadly) and the article for the planes in the foreground. Maybe even the Kennedy Space Center Article. --02:27, 23 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharkface217 (talkcontribs)
Will do. --Sharkface217 02:52, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Super Bowl

You're right, it will probably be Week 17 all over again. I think the Pats will win, but it may be close.   jj137 15:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

It does seem a long time away... only six days. Probably doesn't seem so long for all of the people spending $2.5 million for 30 seconds. :)   jj137 15:58, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Oops, yes, it is. :)   jj137 16:06, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

(I already tried Show Preview on this) You may have a certain ordering for them, but if you don't, I suggest switching the order and placing it first on the left, and about 22px. That at least makes it more visible.   jj137 02:31, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
That looks great. You can use {{Infobox Book}} for any novel.   jj137 02:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't know if that's a good idea. You can use bits and pieces, but it should at least be different enough that they are clearly two different articles.   jj137 03:03, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
