Discussion on when to update File:Samesex marriage in USA.svg

[edit]

Hello, there is a discussion here concerning when we should update this map (when a new law/court order/etc. is made or when it goes into effect). You are being contacted because you participated in a similar discussion a few months back. If you are interested, please stop by and leave your opinion. File:Territorial control of the ISIS.svg

Hi there; based on your seeming agreement regarding File:Territorial control of the ISIS.svg, I've tagged it as a candidate for deletion. If you wish to join the deletion discussion, your input would be welcome :) - Cheers, JCJ of Burwell (Talk) 19:36, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Grands Prix

[edit]

Hi Infernoapple. Regarding, this edit summary of yours, you are correct - the plural of "Grand Prix" is "Grands Prix". It's due to the term's French origins. Typically in English, when an adjective-noun pair is pluralised, only the noun is pluralised, e.g. "one big house" --> "two big houses". But in French, both the adjective and the noun are pluralised, so in this case "Grand"-->"Grands" and "Prix"-->"Prix". It looks weird/wrong because an 's' as been added to the first word, but not the second word, which is the reverse of what usually happens in English. Regards. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
