Survey Invitation[edit]

Hi there, I am a research student from the National University of Singapore and I wish to invite you to do an online survey about Wikipedia. To compensate you for your time, I am offering a reward of USD$10, either to you or as a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation. For more information, please go to the research home page. Thank you. --WikiInquirer 22:09, 3 March 2007 (UTC)talk to me [reply]

"Ugly growth" is about right. Would it be better merged with Steampunk? --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried doing that; see what you think. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User:Worldtraveler[edit]

Hi. It seems that User:Worldtraveler is leaving the project as a result of events ultimately tracing back to your having blocked him (under an IP address) in early January. This user's conduct over the past few weeks has been far from what I might have hoped for from someone of his long standing in the project. I also strongly disagree with his wiki-philosophy as expressed in his now-famous or infamous essay. Having said that, he's a long-time contributor, and it is always unfortunate to see someone leave under these circumstances. Recognizing that you had desired to turn the page on the prior incident, nonetheless, anything you might say to him that could be seen as expressing the hope that he resume contributing to mainspace would be in the project's best interests. Regards, Newyorkbrad 22:06, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IMayBeTrailerTrash...[edit]

I noticed you blocked him as a troll. Would you also look at G.I.H.S.T. (talk · contribs), SpecialCharlie (talk · contribs), TALL TALL Mikey!!! (talk · contribs), and Chaaaz (talk · contribs)? These 4 accounts, just like the one you blocked, all came to make their first contributions ever to the ANI discussion of Dr who1975 (talk · contribs) (and then, oddly, their second edits are to insert something random to their user page to make it blue linked). I'm inclined to believe trolling and some sort of puppetry, but I don't see of what kind for sure. Thanks, Metros232 02:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I didn't notice that you had blocked the rest of them. When I checked after you blocked IMayBe...the others were still unblocked...I stepped away from my computer for a bit and never thought to check the others' statuses before posting that to you. Thanks :) Metros232 02:08, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/InShaneee_2. Worldtraveller 00:31, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll continue to raise questions about your conduct. All I want is for you to explain why you blocked someone you were having a dispute with, with nothing in WP:BP to support the block. More than a month has passed and you still won't engage in any dialogue whatsoever. Why is this? Worldtraveller 01:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The following is from my talk page - perhaps you didn't see it there. Worldtraveller 22:10, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since that was more calmly worded, I'll be glad to answer you. While I continue to frown on your conduct in the matter, I will admit that I jumped the gun with the block, and it was something that I should have sought outside input on; for that I do apologize. Part of it was also, as was mentioned before, that to me, it seemed to be a 'drive-by' by an anon. Had I seen that it was an established user, I would have been much more quick to attempt to begin a dialouge. In the future, though, know that it is polite to raise the question of whether a tag belong or not before you simply remove it; since they are placed by Wikiprojects, they do not always have the luxury of responding quickly to these types of things, or even noticing them in many instances. I hope this helps with the situation. --InShaneee 01:35, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Finally. Why has it taken you so long to respond? I made many requests on your talk page and each one was totally ignored.
You may well frown on my conduct. I also frown on yours. However, that doesn't justify blocking me at all. You haven't explained the following points:
  1. Which bit of WP:BP did you think applied to the situation?
  2. Why did you block someone who you were having a content dispute with when this is strictly forbidden?
  3. Why did you not respond to criticism of your actions?
By the way, I apologise that your refusal to even acknowledge my questions pushed me into saying this. Worldtraveller 12:53, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No reply? Worldtraveller 21:29, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your continued rudeness and failure to remotely discuss your controversial administrative actions just confirms for me that you are a terrible administrator. Whatever I can do to get your administrative tools taken away from you, I will do. Worldtraveller 20:25, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am very curious as to why you've only spoken to me directly once during all this time, while bleating on other forums plenty of times about "personal attacks" and "harassment". Wouldn't you have thought the more effective thing to do would be to talk to me first? Worldtraveller 09:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you were acting in this way to me, I would probably decline to respond to you. If you wish to force this issue there are proper channels, but no editor is required to answer you queries, we are volunteers remember. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 17:22, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Declining to respond is one thing - completely ignoring someone is a much ruder way to behave. Administrators whose actions are questioned should have the integrity to respond. If he thinks he's completely in the right he only has to say so. Why did he not engage in the discussion on WP:AN immediately after the block? That was simply contemptuous to his fellow administrators. Worldtraveller 17:26, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let me rephrase that, If you were acting in this way to me, I would ignore you outright. Stop harassing this user, be more civil. Make and RFC, file for arbitration, follow the steps at Dispute resolution, but do not insist that someone respond to your demands. This is bordering on an unacceptable level of harassment. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 17:30, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The hoarse is dead. Drop the stick and back away. Eventually people might think you were harassing InShaneee. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 17:32, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

arbitration case[edit]

You should probably respond to the allegation of self-unblocking (which was discussed briefly in the original RfC), and you might want to add a couple of links to where you apologized to WT previously. Newyorkbrad 01:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've been letting comments about myself and this case in general stand without my rebuttal as I think it is best to try to avoid a repeat of the recent circus. While I don't agree with your initial block that set this off I've also had several disputes with other admins (including one of those criticizing you here) who insist on their right to perform significantly more questionable blocks... suggesting that this was nowhere near the 'uniquely heinous' act it has been portrayed as. Given that and the other, even weaker, complaints I don't think you have much to worry about. However, if you are concerned that my silence might suggest acquiescence to WT's version of events or otherwise be harmful let me know and I will add a statement. If the circus comes to town despite my efforts I'll likely put in my two cents then in any case. --CBD 13:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there InShaneee... I sincerely believe you have nothing to worry about. I think the arbcom will recognize this for what it is: a continuation of the harassment. I don't really know the arbcom members well, but they seem like a smart group of people. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 16:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you have much to worry about. Yes, I can take over the maintenance of WP:PARA. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 01:45, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal attack[edit]

If you remember, back in September 2006, there was an incident of personal attack against me[1],[2]. The same user has done it again. Please kindly take a look at this comment[3].Heja Helweda 05:07, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing personal here. The user is claiming an ancient daemon 3 headed dragon to be Persian. It is kind of like assigning Medusa or cyclops to a modern ethnicity. [4]. I am trying to get an academic source from the user but so far he has not brought any and instead does not discuss his justification from any scholarly source. --alidoostzadeh 05:11, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I recognized that you blocked this user once. Well, I'm having a big problem with this IP-user. I and other users warned him not to blank pages without any reasons but he still continues to do so. He always removes Def Jam Vendetta (The Fighters) from an article calles Def Jam Vendetta. I warned him several times not to do this because this is considered vandalism. But he still ignores me and he continues to blank this page. Please stop this user. Thanks very much. R@y 06:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've also reported him there. R@y 06:51, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
