Around the World

We aren't ready yet - the awards aren't quite done, and there's some page prep still being worked on.

My computer crashed, and I don't currently have access to AWB (I'm on a library computer). So things are going slower than usual.

You could chip in an help us get the pages ready, if you'd like.

Could you chip in on the administrative divisions task I've posted at User talk:Gimme danger#More tasks? Please start at the J's and work your way to the Z's. Juliancolton will be working backwards from the Z's and hopefully you guys will meet somewhere in the middle. Gimme danger is starting at the A's. If he's not done by the time you are, you can work backwards from the J's and meet him to however far he's gotten. But I doubt you and Julian can finish your part before he finishes his. He's fast. Good luck!

Could you please review my comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Louisiana Airways? --Eastmain (talk) 15:35, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

GA mentor

No problem, let me know of any questions you may have and I'll be happy to help. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 01:59, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

It looks like the editor has started on some of the issues. The issues that you raised look to be helpful. I always try to keep the GA criteria page open and check over each criterion as I review the article. Concerning the sourcing concerns, try to list each statement that you think has a source, as some editors may not know which statements you are referring to you when you say the section needs more sourcing. Try to always be as specific as possible, since the editor may have multiple changes to make and it's easier to fix more specific issues than vague ones.
Whenever you review an article, try to always leave a note on the talk page of the nominator, and main contributors (using this tool) as some editors may not be following their nominations that closely (at time some of the articles are at GAN for a month or more). If you ever have an unresponsive editor, and no changes are made, even after you have left a message on their talk page, after seven days, you should fail the article. However, try to take into consideration if an editor is on a WikiBreak or is currently working on another large project (such as an FA). You can always check their contributions to see if they are currently inactive for a few days. You are allowed to extend a review as long as necessary and as you see fit. However, if someone is on WikiBreak for a month or more, and no progress is made, then fail the article for the time being, as the article can always be renominated after your suggested changes are made. Hopefully this helps, but if you need more help, please let me know on my talk page. Good job on your first attempt, this gets easier after each review. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 05:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Airport notability discussion

You have shown interest in an airport AfD in the past at [[Chadwick Airport] You may wish to visit Stoney Point Airfield and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stoney Point Airfield to participate as well. This message is being sent to editors who participated at Chadwick but have not participated at Stoney Point, regardless of the editor's opinion. Thank you!--Paul McDonald (talk) 11:30, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/0 + 2 = 1

Just a couple of friendly notes on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/0 + 2 = 1. First, I fixed where the header goes after close with this edit. No biggie, just letting you know fyi.

Also, a comment about the closure. Even though you wanted to withdraw your own nom, it's considered bad form to have a non-admin closure when there are a couple of valid delete !votes and a number of !keep votes not based on policy. Seeing as you are an admin hopeful, you might want to be careful about that.

Cheers!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:47, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

There is only one section left (including its subsections) that needs to be completed before the pages are ready for Around the World:

  • Branches of the government of x
    • Executive branch of the government of x
    • Legislative branch of the government of x
    • Judicial branch of the government of x

There are a few more things that need to be completed before the lists can be moved into the main namespace:

  • Fill in the blanks, and blank [[]]'s
    • Population:
    • Size:
    • "(specific elections)" needs to be replaced by links to specific elections (by year, usually)
    • International organization membership
    • Commander-in-chief: [[]]
    • Economic rank:
    • Currency of x:
  • Blue-linking (creating redirects for) standardized items for which the articles' names are not standardized:
  • Fix other temporary links
  • Material in the lead paragraph(s) that is covered in the body of the list needs to be removed, or moved from the lead to the relevant items in the list.
  • Fill in the External Links section

Moving these lists into the main namespace could have a huge impact on their development, because then each list will fall under the scope of the WikiProjects of the respective countries. That's a lot of WikiProjects that may become involved with refining and maintaining these lists.

The move will be accompanied with the placing of new sections on each of the WikiProject pages, their talk pages, placing banners on the talk pages of each list, and including links to these lists in hatnotes on the relevant articles and portals, and placing section links in the see also sections of relevant articles (Geography of x, Military of x, etc.). Lots of AWB work.
