FNA as ref

Just wondering, have you considered using FNA as a reference for new articles? I've found writeups like [1] for Petradoria super-useful; they are up-to-date, they cover outside-California where Jepson gets sketchy, and seem to be pretty authoritative. Downside is incompleteness, but all the Asteraceae are included now, which is a godsend when deciphering the 100+ DYCs found within a hour's drive of my house. :-) Now back to photo processing, I think I finally have definite ID for Eriogonum palmerianum... True, and for some reason it doesn't show up in Google's top hits, being crowded out by useless no-content gardening sites, guess those botanists haven't studied up on SEO... :-/ I usually have to add "fna" to the search to find it. Stan (talk) 21:14, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

After looking through dozens of new articles about non-notable topics, and generally feeling disappointed when thinking about all of the time that will be wasted in deleting them, I felt positively delighted to see and read one of your new articles in the Special:NewPages list about the species of plantain Plantago elongata.     • Hah! Me too.
    • I don't know why this is, but some days are really good as far as the new content, other days are not so good, and there are some days, which I call "semi-automatic content days", when many of the new articles share a common theme. Semi-automatic content days generally occur around special events such as the Olympics, when several articles were created for basically every Olympic athlete and team, or an extremely motivated Wikipedian suddenly decides to add a whole bunch of articles around a common theme (e.g. the recent "visa requirements" articles: Visa requirements for Austrian, Bahamian, Ivorian, Cuban, Ghanian, Georgian, Finnish, Congolese, Dutch, Bruneian, Costa Rican, Chilean, Cameroonian, ... citizens). « D. Trebbien (talk) 01:33, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Ribes amarum

Hello IceCreamAntisocial,

Regarding your edit here, could you give me your rationale for not having a common name in the taxobox, when it already has the botanical name mentioned twice (albeit in two different forms)?

Just so you know, I'm not for common named-titles at all, for any biota, just for having at least one in the taxobox. To my thinking, taxoboxen serve as a sort of summary of names (among other things) for someone looking for it quickly. And a common name is one of those names. For a reader looking for more information, deeper explanations are to be found in the text.

Finally, I don't see any harm in having it there.

Removal of content

In this edit you removed two establishment categories from the article without your edit summary mentioning the reason for this. I have reinstated these categories. Could you explain why you removed them? Was it possibly done inadvertently? __meco (talk) 19:04, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

  • There were two articles about the school. I moved one of them to its current location (which has a better title) by simply replacing the one already there. Removal of content

You deleted revisions to the Kiddie Kandids page and I was wondering if you could explain your reasoning. I work for the company that now owns the studio and was asked to update the page. Thank you. AMFitz

  • If you work for the company, please do not edit its page. Tell your boss it is not appropriate. It is a conflict of interest. Please read the Wikipedia conflict of interest guidelines. If you continue to edit the page I will remove your content and the Wikipedia admins will probably block your account. Any content added to the article should be neutral and not advertising. The content you wrote was pure advertising and promotion of a company, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Please also read Wikipedia's guideline on neutrality, which is a fundamental principle of the site and non-negotiable. Caenorhabditis remanei

You tagged this article as a copypaste but left no url. In the edit log you said it was copied from wormbook but I can't find the relevant section of that site - could you point me at it. As most of that site has a compatiable licence with wikipedia so it seems likely that this isn't a copyright violation as long as we can confirm that the bit this was taken from has that licence. Explanation

Please understand this explanation. It is true that I and my colleagues we enter a great number of facts in the text for the simple reason that in the documentation that we have found it necessary to supplement the text. Surely you see that these are just minor details, such as, dates, pages, spelling errors and others. Also please understand that English is not my native language and I need help with cleanup article.
