Recategorising and sorting
Hello. Just a note, when you recategorise, in many cases you should also fix the category sort key. For example, here, you move the Japanese election article from an Asia category (where is is correctly sorted as 'Japanese general election' to a Japan one, where the sorting of 'Japanese' makes no sense, and it should probably be resorted as 'General election'.
Also, you'll have seen I reverted you changing the Tibetan elections to 'in China' category. The elections did not take place in China (the Chinese government would certainly not allow it) – the Central Tibetan Administration is based in India (it's the government in exile), but the vote is for the diaspora. Cheers, Number 57 21:58, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
Well Hong Kong, Macau and Tibet are not recognised internationally? Hugo999 (talk) 22:01, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- The elections that take place in Hong Kong and Macau are official and sanctioned by the government as part of their special status. Tibetans are afforded no such freedoms unfortunately. I would recommend Eat the Buddha: Life and Death in a Tibetan Town by Barbara Demick if you're interested in what life is like there. Cheers, Number 57 22:21, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Havana Presidential Palace attack (1957)
Hello, why did you place this event in Cuba in a Category within North America? ovA_165443 (talk) 14:30, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
For events by month, Carribean countries are in the category as Category:May 2000 events in North America etc. While there is a seperate category for Category:2000 elections in the Caribbean it is a subcategory of Category:2000 elections in North America; imilarly for Category:2000 in the Caribbean etc. Hugo999 (talk) 21:59, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Your edits to Pan Am Flight 7
Hi there, I performed a polite revert to your category changes on the Pan Am Flight 7 article and explained the reasons for my revert in my edit summary. I noticed that you performed the same edit again, so I assume that you did not notice why I reverted your previous edit, so I'll explain it here. First, the accident occurred in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, about 900 miles northeast of Honolulu, so it's not something that happened in the United States. It's also far away from Oceania, which by the most generous definition would extend as far as the Hawaiian Islands... definitely not 900 miles northeast of the islands. So, I don't find your category changes to be an improvement to the article, which is why I am going to revert them again. Please feel free to discuss further if you disagree with me before making that edit for a third time. I'll keep this talk page on my watchlist for a while to address anything you wish to discuss. Thank you for your efforts! RecycledPixels (talk) 10:48, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
WEell i note that the article is still in the categories ;Category:Aviation accidents and incidents in the United States in 1957 and Category:Airliner accidents and incidents in California! Hugo999 (talk) 10:56, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out, I had not noticed that. I'll fix that immediately. RecycledPixels (talk) 10:58, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- I think it is all sorted out now. Thank you for your help. RecycledPixels (talk) 11:04, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi Hugo999! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 12:20, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Well I am not sure which edit you refer to; most of my edits have been adding categories. Hugo999 (talk) 21:21, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- I was originally thinking of edits like [1], [2] or [3]. I'd not noticed category changes at the time, but those shouldn't be marked as minor either. -Kj cheetham (talk) 21:31, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. Voting is conducted using simple approval voting and questions for the candidates are welcome. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. Correction to previous election announcement
Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

1986 Viking Sally murder
Hi, I noticed that you changed the cat on 1986 Viking Sally murder from 'murders in Europe' to 'murders in Finland'. The reason why I had it as Europe is that the murder took place almost certainly in Swedish waters, because the ship was quite near to Stockholm. Whether the murder is technically considered to have occurred where the ship originates, or where it is when the deed takes place, or something else, I've no idea, hence why I chose the fairly non-specific Europe cat. Are you saying that this should be specifically classified as a murder in Finland, and if so, why? Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:20, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
I got the impression from the category "1996 in Finland" and because he was apparently tried and sentenced in Finland (?) that the murder took place in Finland, not Sweden or the "open sea". If there is and doubt it could ber added to "1986 murders in SWeden" also? Hugo999 (talk) 11:40, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- AFAIK there is no int'l waters in that part of the Baltic. The murder happened between Åland and Sweden, and my guess (and it is only that) is that it was in the Swedish waters, but I can't find a source that would confirm that, or even give an exact time of murder (if that is indeed known). I think your suggestion of adding both Finland and Sweden cats is a good one, so I've gone ahead and done that. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:58, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Wildires categories
Hello, Hugo999,
I saw that you changed the Category:2020 wildfires in New Mexico category to Category:2020 New Mexico wildfires category in keeping with how other annual state wildfire categories are named. So I was wondering, why you didn't do the same for Category:2020 wildfires in Arizona? You are the king of category consistency after all! Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 19:03, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
Please see my proposal to speedily rename Category:2022 North American wildfires etc Hugo999 (talk) 11:25, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
