December 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Newport Tower are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. dougweller (talk) 22:47, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newport Tower and round churches[edit]

On the Newport Tower discussion page you wrote "The Agnestads ruin of Round Church has an inner diameter of 7m, this is almost identical with the Newport tower." No it isn't. The inner diameter of the Newport Tower is less than 6m- which means it has a significantly smaller floor area than the smallest known round church (also the Agnestads church has very very thick, solid walls). On a related matter- the pillars of the Newport Tower have beam sockets on the inside, just where you'd expect them to be to support an upper floor, not on the outside, where you'd expect them to be if they were supporting a roofed extension.
