A tag has been placed on Hope-cee Pharmaceuticals, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Prabash.Akmeemana 03:11, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

June 2013[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Request reason:

This username does not represent any group, organization or website. Hopecee is derived from my name Anyaogu Hope C. I started using the name at the University, when I found out that my classmates prefer calling my First Name with my Initial "C". I adopted it as my username in all platforms that I user. I use it in Yahoo Mail, Gmail, LinkedIn, Facebook, Tweeter, Instagram (ihopecee, because hopecee was not available) etc. Hopecee is different from Hope-cee which may represent an organization. Please permit me to maintain my official username in this site. Thanks for your understanding.

Decline reason:

Hopecee is confusingly close to Hope-cee. Indeed, you've written about your pharmacy, Hope-cee Pharmaceuticals, so I'm sure you can see why people may be confused that your username represents that organisation. Yamla (talk) 20:58, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

This is my official username. I use this username in more than Fifteen Platforms or sites,If I starting adding Usernames it may result to forgetting and losing them. I have already added "ihopecee" to Intagram because hopecee was not available. Don't you think I can forget them if have more than 5 usernames? If you insist, I can add "whopecee" given me four usernames: hopecee, ihopecee, hopecee1, and this one whopecee. I know surely that I will forget this username after some months. Believe me I will forget this username, It does not look like hopecee. It is odd.

Decline reason:

All of those usernames would be too close to the name of the company. See WP:CORPNAME and WP:ISU on why that's not permitted. Huon (talk) 21:43, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please let somebody suggest one that reflects Hope C. that I can not forget after coming back to this site in ten months. I have been using hopecee before Hope-cee was founded.

This has been answered & explained twice above already. SQLQuery me! 00:48, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please I am trying to understand something here. Are we encouraging people to hide their identity and writing on organizations founded by them? There is no big deal changing username. I still do not understand. Many organizations are named after their founders e.g. Ford, Dell, Suziki, Honda, etc. The richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote, has his organization's name as "Dangote". Most law firms took the names of their Founders. Does it mean that the founders should not use their names as usernames on this platform? If they have used their names as usernames, it means they will not be allowed to write on their organizations. I have founded some organizations that have Hope-cee as their names. In addition to these, I have founded other companies like payxyz ltd. If I decided to change my username to payzyx I will be allowed to write on Hope-cee but immediately I write on payxyz Ltd. it becomes promotional. Is that true? I can choose to use WDtgb34 as my username and make my writings, but it has not changed any thing, I have succeeded in hiding my identity as hopecee. Is that what we are encouraging?

Decline reason:

Stop wasting our volunteer time and choose a user name that *does not* sound like it represents *any* company or organization, or you will have your ability to edit this page revoked too. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I should add that no, by changing your name you should not be hiding your association with your Hope-Cee company, as Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest policy requires you to declare any conflict of interest with any subjects you write about, and encourages you not to write about them directly but by requests on the talk pages of any articles that already exist and via the Articles for Creation process for new ones. Further, you will not be able to write about your company at all (and nor will anybody else) unless it satisfies the notability requirements outlined at WP:NCORP and WP:GNG. Request reason:

This is a strong warning. I need to take time and read rules here. Can I use my name "Chibuisi" as a username here? My initial "C." stands for "Chibuisi". My problem would be to remember it as username here. With "Chibuisi" as my username will I be permitted to write about myself here in the future if I wish.

Accept reason:

After the discussion below, you are now unblocked. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:29, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but the username "Chibuisi" is already taken, so please choose another one - you can check if a username is taken at Special:CentralAuth.

As for writing about yourself, please read Wikipdia's notability (WP:N) and Conflict of Interest (WP:COI) policies, which must be followed. In short, as I suggested above, you should not write about yourself directly - you need to declare your conflict of interest (as explained in the guidelines) and you should ideally use the WP:AFC process so that an experienced editor can review your creation for notability and other standards. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please check. Who is this "Chibuisi"? This name is not common. I have problem remembering my usernames that is why I stick to "hopecee". Please how can I check the Identity of the User?
(There's no need to put every reply in a new unblock request.) I already have checked - I didn't just make it up. I have no idea who they are, and their identity is none of your or my business, as Wikipedia usernames are anonymous. I sympathize if you have memory problems, but there's nothing I can do about that - have you tried writing things down? If you don't believe me and want to check that Chibuisi already exists, I have already given you the link to type it in and check for yourself, here it is again - Special:CentralAuth. Now, please use Special:CentralAuth to find a username that is not already in use, and tell us your choice here. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:57, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Can I use this "Hopechibuisi"?
That's acceptable, you are now unblocked as shown above. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:29, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. It reflects my name. This issue has made me to read some guidelines on Wikipedia. I will like to re-edit Hope-cee Pharmaceuticals.
Please read WP:NCORP and WP:RS and think about whether your company satisfies Wikipedia's notability requirements and whether you have sufficient independent reliable sources to support it. Also, please read WP:COI and ensure you follow its guidance when thinking of writing about your own company. And please consider using the articles for creation process as described at WP:AFC. (I've checked the original, now deleted, article about the company that was deleted in 2013, and it did not appear to me to affirm notability, nor did it provide any appropriate sources - and it was deleted as being overtly promotional.) Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 20:08, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That is why I want to edit it by deleting some unnecessary parts that look promotional, and add independent reliable sources.
