Please help me with... Hi! I am considering writing an article about myself and am unsure what the process involves. I have gone to the various boxes indicated but am none the wiser. @HonorTracy:, the answer to your questions is almost always "No, don't do that." It sounds harsh but there are reasons behind this. Many people have the misconception that Wikipedia is something like Facebook or LinkedIn, where people have pages or profiles about themselves. This is not the intention of this site. It is an encyclopedia where articles summarize what reliable, secondary sources have said about a person (or other topic). The difference is that the article subject does not control or vet what is said about them. The policy that controls this is the Conflict of Interest policy and there is a policy supplement on autobiographies. These are summarized simply: Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. We want biographies here, not autobiographies. I should also note that an article about you isn't always positive. If some-one else finds you notable then an article will likely be created. That article is still subject to the Biographies of Living Persons policy and if you find something said by another editor about you to be incorrect then there are channels for corrections.
