Yip Pin Xiu Peer Review[edit]

I made some comments on the PR page - hope they help. It is a nice article and seems pretty close to GA to me (but I do not review sport GANs). Just curious, am I acting burnt out on PR or did I say that I felt that way somewhere? Yours, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:48, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review (although I was expecting more of a prose review)! Will address your concerns shortly. You did mention in a post that you had difficulty keeping up with the backlog and were getting burnt out. --J.L.W.S. The Special One (talk) 04:12, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS Questionnaire[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

GA Nomination[edit]

I've passed your nominated of Yip Pin Xiu. I read it through several times and found it to satisfy all the criteria. I hope you'll review several of the backlog as well or perhaps improve and nominate a few more articles.--Crossmr (talk) 07:47, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: I Not Stupid Too[edit]

First off, sorry if I made things difficulty for you; I was only trying to help. I wouldn't mind reviewing the article, but I don't think I'd be very comfortable reviewing a foreign film. Anyways... the plot section always goes before the production section, which is why I moved it around. Non-free images are constantly being discouraged these days without commentary, and the pictures I saw did not really add anything to the article, i.e. anything that cannot be described in words. You could try to look for a better screen shot or re-add the ones I removed; either way, the GA reviewer may request you remove them. I was merely trying to make this process easier. :) Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 09:57, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I came across this subpage of your talk page through a stub category. I noticed that this page is from 2007, and that we have a much more complete article on the same person. If this page no longer serves a purpose and is simply forgotten, would you mind tagging it with {{db-user}} so that it gets deleted? If, on the other hand, you have a practical use for the page, there is no apparent harm in leting it exist, but then it would be better if you disabled the stub template and the category in it. Thanks! Fram (talk) 13:28, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Fram, and thanks for reminding me about that subpage! It no longer serves any purpose, so feel free to delete it. The mainspace article Chen Liping was speedy deleted by Mindmatrix in December 2006 (screw deletionists); when I questioned the deletion on IRC, another admin copied the article to my userspace. I was planning to write a proper article about her in mainspace, but real life got in the way and in December 2007, someone else created a new article about her in mainspace, which was subsequently expanded by others. --J.L.W.S. GA Sweeps invitation[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Aqlogin.PNG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:01, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore wildlife article[edit]

Hello Hildanknight, I've been told by the always-helpful chzz that you both frequent the IRC channels and are active in the Singapore project. Now I've never seen you on IRC (at least not to memory) even though I frequent it but I've been trying to get an opinion on a certain issue about the wildlife, fauna and flora articles here and here - I messaged you because chzz claimed you are "the most helpful person he has ever met or likely ever will" [sic]. Thanks at any rate KimiNewt (talk) 14:26, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He really said that? I feel honoured. I am always happy to see others interested in Singapore-related articles. Since late July, I have been on an extended wikibreak to prepare for major examinations which take place early next month. But a one-week-long break from school, the ongoing GA review of Murder of Huang Na and now this request have prompted me to come back for a few days. As for the flora, fauna and wildlife articles, perhaps you and Jacklee could do some research on our wildlife? The amount of information available would suggest whether merging the articles is appropriate and you guys could even write a GA (or two) about our wildlife (like the FAs you linked to on your userpage)! If time permits, I may closely examine the issue and give a more detailed response, but this will do for now. Thanks for contacting me and I hope you find my suggestion useful. --J.L.W.S. Your GA nomination of Murder of Huang Na[edit]

The article Murder of Huang Na you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Murder of Huang Na for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of said article. If you oppose this decision, you may ask for a reassessment. Cirt (talk) 18:46, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, If you wish to renominate the article at a later date - I would be willing to take another look at that point in time. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 18:47, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Wikipedia has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is located here. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck!
