Edit summaries, please[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Thanks! I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Gender Blender, which you proposed for deletion. I have added four book reviews and references to support notability.. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The COI Tag You Added to Adam Kovacevich[edit]

Hi Harold, I see that you added a COI tag to the page for Adam Kovacevich because he paid me. However, I fully disclosed this conflict and submitted my requests through the COI process, all of which is readily viewable on the "Talk" page. I did not make changes directly; instead, my requests were reviewed, approved, and implemented by a neutral editor. Therefore, I believe that this tag is unwarranted. Thank you. Signed, BlueRoses13 (talk) 10:41, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
So sorry for my great delay in responding to you. I understand your objection, and I appreciate your transparency in disclosing your connection with the subject and your scrupulousness in avoiding directly editing the page. Nonetheless, the relevant contributions define a "contribution" in this context as a "any text or file added to, or deleted from, Wikipedia, including talk-page and sandbox contributions, and material added to or deleted from articles by others at the behest of paid editors" (emphasis mine). As such, it seems that your indirect contributions would still raise a conflict of interest that, while not compromising the integrity of the page, is worth informing readers about. If I've misunderstood these guidelines, please let me know and I'll be happy to correct my error.
Best, Harold Angle (talk) 14:58, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, @Harold Angle. I appreciate your concerns. However, I'm fairly certain that the COI tag should be removed, for several reasons: (1) I never edited the page directly, so I'm not a "major" contributor, let alone a "minor" one; (2) The COI process calls for disclosure on the "Talk" page, which I've done, not the article page; and (3) The tag you added is meant for cases of WP:UPE, which doesn't apply here. Thanks for your consideration. Signed, BlueRoses13 (talk) 18:39, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
I apologize for once again taking so long to reply to you. It's been a hectic month, and I appreciate your patience. Looking over the guidelines again, I think your interpretation makes more sense. I seem to have gotten tripped up in some of the finer points of the tag guidelines, and I appreciate your clarification of them. As such, I'll remove the tag.
Take care, Harold Angle (talk) 05:47, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, @Harold Angle. All good. Best wishes, BlueRoses13 (talk) 01:10, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
