License tagging for Image:AOCD.pdf[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AOCD.pdf. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:04, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Haolan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 13:10, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MrOllie, I am confused and surprised by your comments? I didn't place an advertisement for any profitable purpose. It's purely scientific discussion with reference to my recent research. I don't agree with your accusation of COI. The amendment I made:
1. Is not about myself, my family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
2. No conflict of interest;
3. No linking to my organization or any other website.
4. There is no issue about my content. Purely original scientific discussion.
Therefore, as a Wikipedia donor, I request your superior to take a look at this case; and make correction on your decision. 120.21.161.33 (talk) 01:13, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you read the COI guidelines thoroughly, you will find that editing for 'profitable purpose' is not the only type of conflict identified by Wikipedia. Editing for the purpose of linking your own papers as citations is also considered a conflict here. This is different from what you are likely used to in academic publishing, where self-cites are encouraged. Being a Wikipedia donor has nothing to do with anything. MrOllie (talk) 02:01, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your attitude is weird. I mentioned being a Wikipedia donor is to tell you that I have my right to disagree and ask for re-assessing this case. It doesn't mean I have the right to publish whatever I want. Therefore, I am asking for re-evaluating my case. Your comments "Being a Wikipedia donor has nothing to do with anything" is strange and overreact. It makes me wondering your suitability to handle this case with personal attitude. Haolan (talk) 02:18, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Haolan, almost everything you have added has included a citation to papers by a particular author, which is likely why MrOllie left you this notice – they thought that you are this author. While the contributions of experts are welcome, please have a look at our policy on self-citing, particularly the last section: adding numerous references to work published by yourself and none by other researchers is considered to be a form of spamming. I would encourage you to start talk page discussions about adding the papers you want to add. If we are incorrect and you are not citing yourself, please accept my apologies.
