Sorry to bother you again, but if you want to go back even further in the page history of The Kooks, check these. –dffgd 13:18, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

No bother. I saw them when I was examining the history, but they don't really meet the criteria revdel. I only deleted the crap that could be taken as an attack on the band members, but that's more the garden variety childish vandalism, not "grossly offensive, insulting or degrading". HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, I noticed you revdel-ed this, which if I remember right was something along the same lines? Not as bad as the 9-time one, at least. And do those possibly fall under RD3? From RD3, "Purely disruptive material that is of little or no relevance or merit to the project." I would call it that. –dffgd 13:51, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I think this and this were the same edit. –dffgd 13:54, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't think I meant to delete that, it was just in my way while I was trying to zap the more egregious stuff. RD3 is more for outing and malicious links than for petty vandalism. To be honest, it's a way back in the history so it's unlikely to attract much attention, anyway. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:02, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for clarifying. And pending-changes-ing it, in case it keeps going. –dffgd 14:07, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
That's quite all right. If they keep at it, I'll just get the banhammer out! :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:11, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
So far one IP has been blocked for that, see in the history where I reverted a bunch of edits around the same time. If it happens again, would an only warning (4im) be appropriate? –dffgd 14:17, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm assuming you missed this message so I'm going to give you another new messages bar. –dffgd 16:54, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, sorry, this talk page is rather busy! Yes, you could justify a 4im warning for that- you might like to use {{subst:uw-biog4im}}, or just the default vandalism 4im. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:43, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
() Thanks for all your help, when I have a question, I'm not usually sure who to ask. –dffgd 19:22, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Well you're welcome to ask any questions here- if I don't know the answer, one of my talk page stalkers will! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

To anyone who's wondering what in the world the {{tb}} is talking about, see here. –dffgd 14:09, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Declined semi-protection of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

You declined to re-institute the semi-protection of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America article. You stated that there is not enough recent activity to justify it. However, since the semi-protection was removed, the same anonymous user has put the same POV statements in the article that he/she did before the article was originally semi-protected. This has happened twice since the semi-protection was removed. This user refuses to discuss his/her edits and the citations that he/she gives do not justify the edits. Please reconsider the semi-protection request. Thank you. KitHutch (talk) 04:49, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

I generally like to see a bit more than just one IP making a nuisance of themselves before I consider semi protection- if you haven't already warned them, I suggest you start the IP off with a level 3 warning for POV pushing or whatever template is most appropriate, then report them to AIV of they continue. If the same person rapidly changes IP or lots of other people turn up and start making a nuisance of themselves, then it would be appropriate to reconsider semi protection. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 07:30, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I have reverted more POV statements. - NeutralHomerTalk • 14:06, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
It's the same IP. Warn 'em and report 'em. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:08, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Will do :) - NeutralHomerTalk • 14:09, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Need to ask a question, would I be in COI if I reported anything about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to ANI or RPP as I am a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America? - NeutralHomerTalk • 14:16, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Can you edit neutrally without your own personal opinion interfering? If you can, then no. I declined your AIV report, though- the idea of a warning is that it's a chance to stop, not just "stop it or I'll report you" and then reporting them anyway! I'm sure he'll be back, though, and I'll get the banhammer out when he is. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:19, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I must have misunderstood, I thought you wanted me to warn and report, my goof there. Yeah, I am edit neutrally while being an ELCA member. I would be more cautious if I was like a clergyman or something directly involved with my church, but I am just a member of the church. To be honest, I am a total newbie and still learning everything that goes into being a Lutheran, so I have a ways to go before being a full card-carrying Lutheran. :) Thanks. - NeutralHomerTalk • 14:22, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Took the user back to AIV after a revert to previous. - NeutralHomerTalk • 15:34, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. :) - NeutralHomerTalk • 15:39, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Any time. Hopefully 3 days in the naughty corner will do the trick. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:41, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Hopefully. I can say the user has a slight point, that members of the ELCA and some churches have left, but not at the rate the user was discribing. In Virginia, we only lost 3 churches and about 200 members total. I think nationwide it was close to about 2,000 members and about 25 churches, everyone else was very welcoming of the change to welcome homosexual members and clergy into the church. What could have been a big brouhaha, turned out to be just a couple of the hardcore Lutheran churches and members ditching the ELCA and going to an overshoot of the ELCA. So, while the user does have a slight point, it isn't to the extent that he was talking about and there is no one actively leaving or going to leave the ELCA, especially in Virginia. - NeutralHomerTalk • 15:47, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Checking back

Hi HJ, Checking back because you didn't reply to my request, to look at my block (now archived here). I assumed you were too busy or didn't want to get involved, and really that's fine either way.

User:Tariqabjotu is now saying that you "found nothing wrong with (my block)" [1] which is different from not replying to my request to look at it.

Tariq is a fine editor. Basically I want to make sure that -- particularly because the I-P topic area has so much emotional/partisan editing -- editors there respect WP:INVOLVED, to wit: "Editors should not act as administrators in cases in which they have been involved. This is because involved administrators may have, or may be seen to have a conflict of interest in conflicts they have been a party to or have strong feelings about. Involvement is generally construed very broadly by the community, to include current or past conflicts with an editor (or editors) and disputes on topics, regardless of the nature, age, or outcome of the dispute." Tariqabjotu and I have had past conflicts and disputes as above, one especially protracted and acrimonious.

I still totally understand if you don't care to comment on this, but your not commenting is currently being presented to suggest tacit approval, Respectfully, RomaC TALK 08:50, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

This is completely irrelevant, but I wanted a second opinion and you showed up on my watchlist. :P I fulfilled this ESp request, but another editor has brought up a valid point about it. Now I'm not entirely sure. What do you think? sonia♫♪ 09:59, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, the hatnote is certainly valid. The target of the redirect I suppose merits further discussion. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:04, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Resolved now, with the de-redirectification of Edit war. :) sonia♫♪ 10:14, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, de-riderictification, I'm so stealing that! ;) It would have been ironic if there had been an edit war over it! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:36, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Help...

Look at Once_More,_with_Feeling_(Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer)#Reception. The last two sentences under that header which say "With a Region 2 release on April 14, 2003, Once More, with Feeling became the only episode of the series to be released on DVD by itself,[51] and was also on the sixth season set released in Region 2 on May 12, 2003.[52] In Region 1, the episode was released on the sixth season box set on May 25, 2004, over a year later than the Region 2 release.[53]" absolutely SUCK, but I'm at a mental block as to how to improve them. Can you do something that doesn't sound like total shit? Courcelles (talk) 16:07, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

I had a look. Any better now? Who would have thought it was possible to make such a bloody mess out of 2 sentences! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:34, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
When most of the article was written by Moni, anything looks like a darned mess. That's both a blessing and a curse. Courcelles (talk) 16:36, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I modified your version's order again, but your prose was better than mine. Took me ninety minutes in a library to dig out those two sentences. Courcelles (talk) 16:42, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
It's much easier to mercilessly tinker with someone else's pros than your own! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:44, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Unless you're tinkering with a really good writer's. Then you feel like you're messing it up. Courcelles (talk) 16:45, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Would you please zap the last thread at User talk:Tommy2010. N419BH 20:09, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

There's nothing there worth zapping- those diffs won't work unless you're an admin and I expect they'll be suppressed soon. In future, don't raise that kind of thing on ANI- the number of creeps, maniacs and general nutters there makes it a very bad place to post something private! You can bring it here for pre-oversight deletion if you want (use a header like "urgent revdel request" and you should get the attention of one of my stalkers quickly enough if I'm not on- they'll be able to handle it). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:15, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Lesson learned. Thanks again. N419BH 20:18, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Have you quite finished mocking me for forgetting to sign? ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:41, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Fun fun fun. Why don't you unprotect your talk page. Extra reasons for blocks :). N419BH 20:51, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm waiting on a fix to a mediawiki bug that would allow abuse filters to catch the edits it's protected against. I'm hoping but not expecting that it'll be fairly soon. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:57, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
That works. On an unrelated note, I've uploaded my first image...and can't find the detailed information the fair-use tag I'm attempting to use calls for. You see, it's an airplane that was cancelled in 2000 and never built. I can find precisely one CG rendering of it, which simply has a general copyright tag and no sourcing information whatsoever. It's obviously a press rendering and was originally published in a magazine...help? (Image is File:428JKLM.JPG btw) N419BH 21:05, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Uhh, how do I link to the filename without displaying the whole darn thing? Sheepishly, N419BH 21:06, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
It looks pretty good to me- you should see my upload log, it makes interesting reading! Most of them are temporary uploads for the Main Page. The one thing you're lacking is a fair-use rationale (see WP:FUG) that needs to explain why it's suitable for use and why it can;t be replaced by a free image. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:11, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Done Rationale added; now how do I submit 428JET for good article review? I'm going to be offline for the next several hours, so don't expect a quick reply this time. N419BH 21:27, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, you can nominate it for GA at WP:GAN, but, frankly, it's not of GA standard yet- it'd need to be quite a bit longer to start with. You've done a nice job on it so far, though. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:53, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm...Lemme think...Nah. Besides, that was my first use of {{unsigned}}! :) –dffgd 22:12, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
You could remove the semi-protection and add pending changes to your talk page, but that could get a bit complicated, and result in a bit more vandalism that needs to be reverted. MC10 (TCGBL) 01:50, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Gary Eyer

I wish I had been aware that Gary Eyer was up for deletion, don't know how I missed that. Eyer is a professional boxer who is unbeaten after nine bouts and he is still active. His last two opponents were 3-0 and 6-1, and one of his bouts was chosen as the fight of the year in Minnesota professional boxing by two different boxing websites. Small potatoes, I know, but I believe that he still meets the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia as a professional athlete per WP:ATHLETE. If I'm wrong, please set me straight. Brain Rodeo (talk) 02:40, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Well an article deleted via WP:PROD can be restored at any time on request, so I've done so. If the proposer still believes the subject isn't notable, he can still take it to AfD, but it's back now. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:09, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

DYK problem

Hello! Your submission of John O'Callaghan (Medal of Honor) and Michael O'Regan (Medal of Honor) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! LittleMountain5 02:50, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, but edit protected requests are for minor, usually cosmetic, changes. I'm not going to risk continuing and edit war by-proxy. The protection expires in about 24 hours anyway. I don't appreciate your assuming bad faith on my part, or implying, that I was attempting to edit war via proxy. If I'm in error to make such a request, then so be it. Please explain my error, or cite appropriate policy, but please don't imply I was attempting to do something that I was not. Thank you and good day. Akerans (talk) 02:50, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

That wasn't at all my intent. What I meant was that, as an admin patrolling the edit requests who has no prior involvement with the article, I have no way of knowing of the change you requested is likely to be controversial and the normal bold, revert, discuss cycle becomes very difficult when only administrators can edit a page, so admins tend not to make changes that might be controversial. It wasn't meant as an assumption of bad faith on your part and I'm sorry for any offence I caused, it wasn't my intent. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:03, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

User:LegoJoker68

I worry that this user will continue his copyvios and continue his posting of articles that fail WP:NOTFILM notability after his block expires, and his comment in this edit, about "I suppose it'll be one week without making an interesting article for me" pretty much confirms it for me. Is there any way I can, as a concerned Wikipedian, set a process in motion to have him blocked longer? I've been pretty much chasing after this user's "contributions" since I noticed his pattern of creating these pages, and after PROD'ing every one of them, and then having to AfD after he disputed...I just feel he doesn't know what he's doing is actually against the guidelines, and I'm not entirely sure how he couldn't after all of the warnings and explanations....it's just frustrating, and I know he's going to be right back at it in 7 days. --Fbifriday (talk) 05:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, you could take it to WP:ANI. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:13, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I've restored it. Since it was deleted via WP:PROD, you can contest it at any time, even after it's been deleted. If you still want it userfied, I can do that. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:55, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Reason for deleating JetBrains

Dear HJ,

I have just noticed that you had removed the article dedicated to the software development company JetBrains. This article existed for years, as the company does, and it is hardly understandable what made you remove it. Could you please comment on this action and possibly point out to the problems you've found with the text.

Thank you in advance for clarification.

- Ptibird (talk) 18:06, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

The article was deleted via our proposed deletion system, in which it is tagged by an editor and deleted if the tag is still there in a week. However, anyone can contest it, even after deletion. I'm assuming you don't think it should be deleted, so I've restored it. If somebody thinks it should be deleted in future, they would have to take it to a community discussion. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:25, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your assistance HJ, and for a clear explanation. This is highly appreciated.

Editor Review and Adminship Question

Hi HJ, I have 2 questions, who writes the editor reviews (other editors or a certain group) and what other steps do I need to take to become a nominee for RfA? I do many many tech things and enjoy "behind the scenes" work, so please don't say the mop is boring. (LOL) Also how do I become an account creator?? Thanks, Joe Gazz84 (user)(talk)(contribs) 23:57, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Editor reviews are done at WP:ER and any editor can ask questions or make comments. Instructions for requesting adminship are at WP:RFA/N, but, quite frankly, you won't get it at the minute- it's too early in your editing career. To give you an idea, I had 15,000 edits and 14 months' experience when I passed RfA. You have about 200 edits/3 months and a lot of editors in your position have their RfAs closed very quickly per the essay WP:NOTNOW, which is worth a read. As for account creator, that's a purely technical right given to people who are experienced in working at WP:ACC so that they can bypass the 6(?) account per day rule or create accounts with usernames similar to existing usernames. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:06, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, thank you. Is there any group other than the one I may be able to help in?? I am interested in getting involved in the behind the scenes. Is there like a vandal block group or something?? So does that mean I could write an editor review for someone?? Joe Gazz84 (user)(talk)(contribs) 00:08, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Um, you may be able to be a rollbacker, if that's what you mean. It gives you access to huggle, a very fast tool to revert vandalism. But you need experience with reverting vandalism first. (@HJ: accountcreator's also given to people who need to edit editnotices or bypass the title blacklist.) sonia♫♪ 00:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
As I was saying before my stalker interrupted me! ;) The best thing you can do to help "behind the scenes" if that's what you want to do is to help with vandalism. Unfortunately, you have to be an admin to actually use the banhammer, but that's what WP:AIV's for! You might like to install Igloo, which is a really great script for detecting and reverting vandalism and is incredibly easy to install and to use. It automatically reports the vandal to AIV for you if they've already had a final warning. You could also try patrolling recent changes "old school" with rollback and Twinkle. Other than that, you might like to try new page patrol, which involves examining new pages to make sure thy're acceptable and tagging them for deletion if you have to (Twinkle can help you there, it's great for speedy deletions). NPP is a thankless and never-ending task but it's an essential one and it can give you some valuable experience, just be careful not to bite the newcomers who are genuinely making an effort, though. You can also patrol Category:Wikipedia semi-protected edit requests and make edits by proxy on behalf of IPs (assuming it's not vandalism or anything like that). The last two are pretty close to admin work. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:23, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Second opinion

Hi again. You may remember reviewing The Frontline (Irish TV series). Having 'Irish TV series' obviously means that there is another article called 'The Frontline', which there is. Two questions: Should the rap duo article remain there or be moved (e.g The Frontline (rap duo)?; and is the article itself noteworthy? Thanks, —  Cargoking  talk  23:12, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

OK, where there are only two articles, it's much preferred to have one as Topic and one as Topic (foobar). As to whether the rap duo are notable, I've deleted articles with stronger claims to notability as expired PRODs, but from the history, I'd say you'd have to take it to AfD to get it deleted. However, the TV series seems the more notable of the two, so if you can be bothered to change the links to The Frontline, I can swap them for you. Please do. :) —  Cargoking  talk  10:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Quick Question

Heya HJ, I was wondering, my user page has got millions upon millions of categories, how do I make them not show up without the use of <noinclude></noinclude> tags, thanks. Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 00:26, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, for example, I'm in Category:Wikipedia administrators, so typing [[:Category:Wikipedia administrators]] will link to the category, but not place the page in it. The problem you have, though, is that most of your categories are in your userboxen, so they're bloody difficult to get rid of. There may be a way to hide them, but you;d have to ask someone cleverer than me! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:31, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah ok, thanks I'll ask around. Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 00:32, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
You could try sticking {{helpme}} on your talk apge and seeing if one of the people who patrol that category knows the answer. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:33, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks again HJ! Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 04:52, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Could you check if enough consensus has been reached here and leave a talkback on my talk page when done. Thanks. Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 04:49, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

ttag

Treasury tag has posted an unblock saying that he self-reverted right before your block. It appears to be true. Perhaps you should take another look? Toddst1 (talk) 14:23, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

It looks like you're offline. Looking further into this ridiculous edit war, it appears that Sarek also self-reverted. It appears that they tried to disengage. As such, I've unblocked ttag. Toddst1 (talk) 14:32, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the note. I did indeed miss his self-revert. It looks like he did it a few seconds before I blocked him. I hate to "block and run" but I'd just gone to get my lunch, so thanks for unblocking him in my absence! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Apologies

Hi,

I wish to apologize for the comments made at [2]. As I later clarified on that page, I appear to have completely missed the target, mistaking the edit war you referred to as the earlier one on WP:AN and not the one on WT:AN, which I did not noticed at all despite writing on the page during it.

I unjustifiably did not assumed good faith for no reason and hence my remarks turned out to be totally misguided. I sincerely apologize.

I should have assumed good faith, simply asked if it was that edit war and pointed out that I thought it ended 30 mins ago, or otherwise better analyzed the user's edits instead of going on a stupid tantrum about the nature of blocks. I fear my lack of activity here might have clouded my vision and influenced me to see imaginary specks in fellow wikipedian's eyes :(

Snowolf How can I help? 15:27, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

No worries. It all happened rather quickly on a usually very quiet talk page, so it's an easy mistake to make! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello friend!

Hello. I'm a month-old user at Wikipedia, and want you to guide me. I usually worked at Wikinews. Well, can you help me on DYKs? How do they create them? I couldn't find anyone but you, and thought you must be experienced. Hope you help me, friend! Awaiting your response,--Sainsf<^> (talk) 16:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Are you from en.Wikinews? I edit there occasionally. It's pretty easy to get DYKs. All you have to do is create a new article and get it to a decent size, then go to T:TDYK and nominate it. It needs to have 1500 characters of prose to qualify- there's a handy tool you can use to measure that. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:56, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

I do not wish to apply to be an Administrator, I wish to apply to be a bureaucrat. Where do I apply for that as I spent a lot of time on those questions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ratinator (talkcontribs) 16:28, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

In that case you were doing the wrong thing in the right place, but you have no chance of success as you must be an administrator before you can be a bureaucrat, but both are highly experienced editors with thousands of edits. You have only a few months and 200 edits here. Try to focus on being a regular editor rather than coming across as a hat seeker. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:01, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

I completely understand your reasons for deletion nomination. However, I am very surprised that it is a speedy delete and not a delete. There are practical reasons for categories, such as locating similar articles. How can this be done now? Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 16:32, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've been trying to help User:DocOfSoc for a little while now along with some others. We aren't really official mentors but we do try to help her and more important she listens to others. SRQ has made this editors life miserable since she first started at the project that she even left for like 8 months. So I really appreciate you semi-protecting her page so she can get a brief reprieve from the situation. Thank you, sincerely, --CrohnieGalTalk 18:40, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Re-Evaluation Request

Hi, I've recently taken the thought of adminship under deeper consideration. I'f you don't mind, I'd like an evaluation of whether I'm ready or not at this point to influence my decision. Thanks. Connormah (talk | contribs) 20:08, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

I'll fill it out, but probably won't transclude until next week, I'm pretty busy this week, and probably won't have much time to answer questions thoughtfully. Thanks. Connormah (talk | contribs) 20:49, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Moving Page

I have a page move option. I would like to know, I was asked by a user to move something they made on THEIR userpage to a new page, when I go to move can I just say no redirect, and let them re-create their userpage. Like brand new?? Joe Gazz84 (user)(talk)(contribs) 23:24, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Sadly not, only admins can move pages without leaving a redirect behind. If they don't want the redirect, though, they can tag it with {{db-u1}} and an admin will come a long soon enough and zap it, then they can create it again from scratch. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:28, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

I did not mean to revert you like a vandal. The subsequent edits are not about you, but smackdown on a proxy using serial ban evader. SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
You're welcome to extend the ban. SchmuckyTheCat (talk)

Got this page fully-protected due to an edit war. However, it was protected at the registered user's version and not the IP's. I have a sneaking suspicion the user isn't going to go to the talk page. Article also seems as though it might be ever so slightly important to certain groups of people on this site. Might want to look at it. Cheers! N419BH 04:25, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Just a little bit, yeah! But from a glance at the history, it's not as bad as your second amendment. That amuses me by the way, you create a constitution and then your second thought is "oh, we forgot to give everyone guns"! ;) I'll see if I can be of assistance, though I'm sure someone will accuse me of a COI after a look at my userpage! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:59, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
The Second amendment is a battlezone... I've had it watchlisted for weeks, with no sign of peace breaking out any time soon. I know nothing about the topic, so wading through the talkpage is hard. Since it's ended up at ANI and elsewhere I'm hopeful editors-with-clue may try and get involved, but I doubt there's an easy or quick solution. TFOWR 10:15, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh trust me, it's a battlezone in the country too. The text reads something about "a well regulated militia being necessary for the protection...the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". Dunno how a private citizen is part of a militia, but the second amendment is used as justification for private ownership of ASSAULT RIFLES and MACHINE GUNS. It's just wacky. N419BH 13:33, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, part of me likes the idea of being armed so we can overthrow a government we've chosen, once it becomes a tyrant. The realist part of me, however, thinks that with the power available to governments today the only effective weapons are the ones carried by this guy. 2nd amendment also has active IP contributions (likely the same IP) so it's a similar problem - and I suspect it won't be solved on the talkpage. And is possibly too deep for non-US editors, or even non-US-lawyer-editors, ... or even non-US-lawyer-editors-schooled-in-Constitutional-law. TFOWR 13:48, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Add this guy to the "list of people who carried and utilized effective weapons against an oppressive government." Add this guy too. N419BH 14:33, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Pending changes

PENDING CHANGES IS VERY SLOW!!! GRRR!!! (I just needed to relieve my stress with somebody). Greetings, Anna Lincoln 11:13, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Indeed. It's more trouble than it is worth, IMO. Courcelles (talk) 11:15, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
    • Slow isn't necessarily bad... for a low-traffic BLP "slow" may deter an idiot or two. For articles with daily edits I do tend to agree, however. Disclaimer: I've been doling out PC1 in much the same way every other admin doles out reviewer rights... ;-) TFOWR 11:28, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
      • Do you know any way to check how close we are to the 2,000 article limit? Courcelles (talk) 11:31, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
        • I haven't got a clue. I expect there's a way, but I don't know offhand. I agree it's bloody slow, though! Approving the tiniest of typo correction on Deepwater Horizon oil spill takes forever and a day! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:33, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
          • Bah, that should be semi'd: too many edits, although there are good IP edits. Incidentally, Someone (Off2RioRob?) mentioned Amalthea had tested this prior to the trial, and speed hadn't been an issue. I'm wondering whether there's a relatively easy technical fix to the speed problem? TFOWR 11:39, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
            • Ask at the feedback place that pops up every time you open your watchlist. Speed (or lack thereof) is my only real issue with PC so far besides the "let's find every problem BLP and let drive-by morons libel their subjects at will" issue! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:43, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
              • You think I pay attention to edit notices or watchlist notifications?! Heh, good idea... /slinks off to do just that ;-) TFOWR 11:47, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
                • Aye, it's a known issue: {{bugzilla|24124}}. My reading of the discussion there is that not much is happening... TFOWR 11:53, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
                  • Ugh! It takes an eternity it get anything done there! I'm following another bug that will hopefully allow me to unprotect my talk page, but it's taking forever! I won't elaborate per WP:BEANS, but I'll email you the details if you want. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:02, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
                      • Purely out of nosiness, and because I suspect I'll be in a technology-frame-of-mind for most of today, yes please. TFOWR 12:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
                        • The bug's been fixed now apparently, although speed never really was an issue for me in regards to pending changes. Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 23:31, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Personal opinion

Hello again! It was a while ago since I talked to you lastly. Anyway, I was reading through your archive, when I came across this (written by Tournesol). Do you personally seriously really believe that [4] and [5] by me is enough for you to warrant a block on me? What I was doing, was that I removed stupid messages posted by myself, since I was angry at that time I got permanently blocked from Swedish Wikipedia. What I mean, is that everyone has the right to edit Wikipedia, as long as they are only constructive and the users are not irritating anyone, taking up their time to do other, more constructive stuff here at Wikipedia. Thanks, /HeyMid (contributions) 12:40, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I didn't block you. That should answer your question. Just don't make me regret my decision! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:43, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
My question wasn't if you had blocked me. However, if a block would have been warranted at that time, it would have been time limited and not indefinite. Also, have you kept an eye on me ever since, as you said here? /HeyMid (contributions) 12:56, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
I didn't think a block was necessary. If I had, I would have blocked you. As long as you keep yourself out of trouble, there'll be no need for any blocks. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:22, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
