Regarding the citing of source for Wu Song article

Sorry, I deleted the request from my talk page because I felt that I have already cited my source. If I was not wrong, I stated that the information came from the 1980s TV serial based on the Water Margin. My aim was to show a difference as to how Wu Song lost his arm in the serial and in the novel, and if you find that the information is unreliable, you can just remove it.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Lonelydarksky (talk • contribs)

That's a cool name by the way. Lol. Wow, those are very good questions you've presented me with on my talk page. I'm afraid I don't know anything about you (besides what's listed on your user page), and I think the only freedom a man truly has is to make his own decisions. I don't know your desires or what might happen to you along the road of life, but I can say with certainty now that, since I am taking my first Elementary Chinese language course this summer, my own future will be brighter (in terms of employment). I am a general history major right now, and when I get into grad school I will focus primarily on either Asian Studies or Chinese history (even I don't know which I want to limit myself to). I have the right (just like every other editor) to remove whatever material from the talkpage that is not aimed at the betterment of the page. Your original comment was based on POV and contributed nothing. To your question, the two related articles are Shen Kuo and Society of the Song Dynasty. In Shen Kuo's article I mentioned Song Ci only in a sentence that was relevant to the subject of Shen Kuo on anatomy. In the Society article, I actually formulated a whole new sub-section on him under the overhead Law and Order section (but wasn't able to say much). Thanks for helping out, Mr. Exorcist. Donghu ethnic tribe's hair style

I see that you reverted my editing in Jurchen. 髡髮 (kun fa) is the official name given to the hair style of Donghu ethnic tribes by Han Chinese historians. 禿髮 (tu fa) is a little unofficial. Wow, great to see this article reaching featured status. I read it today and it turned out great. Very intresting read. The only issue I noticed is double wikilinking and some terms which should be straigh forward without wiki-linking. Examples would be the Yue Fei article which is wiki-linked quite a lot while words like undershirt are wikilinked but probably shouldn't. Help with an article

Hi! I've noticed that you have contributed a lot to the Jurchen and the Jin Dynasty articles, I was wondering if you could look at this article Kim Hambo created recently by User:Kprideboi. It is supposedly about "Shizu", sort of the ancestor of the founder of the Jurchen Jin dynasty, yet much of the contents displayed are the "disputed" informations that were often removed from the Jin Dynasty article and they are not referenced nor are they particularly well-written. Some of the claims, such as claiming the leader came from the Kingdom of Silla, labeling the Jin Dynasty as "Kim Empire", the Korean name of the person itself... is quite out there. What do you think of it? Is the article going to create problems? Is it too biased? Could you maybe do some adjusting to it?--TheLeopard 22:55, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Ghost, still need your specific help

Hi, Pericles once more. I hope this is not too much of a burden, but I need your help with the quotations from the book written by Song Ci. Every Song Dynasty related article has now been lifted to GA or FA status except for Society of the Song Dynasty, which failed the GA review (due to a culmination of reasons that I have already fixed). However, there is but one little thing that will hold it back, and that is those quotations not having proper citation. It is crucial to the article, and once I have that article lifted to GA status I can focus on getting all of the Song Dynasty articles up to FA Topic status.

I know that you have the book source readily available to you that could help with this article. If you would be so kind as to lend a helping hand, it would be more than greatly appreciated. I wish the person who had posted it in the first place would have just been responsible enough to properly cite them, but that person did not. Fair enough and thanks for replying, Ghost. I wish I owned the book that you have, so that I wouldn't be so helpless in fixing my own problem. If it is far too difficult to find the exact quotes in your book source, I will simply take those (rather good) quotes out of the article, because they jeopardize its ability to pass the GA review. However, if you are not incredibly busy, that would be awesome if you, on your own behalf, could find suitable replacements in your book for those quotes; new quotes that would be equally as good in terms of relevance towards early forensic reasoning and practices in Song China. Hey Ghost, I will fiddle with the image in a couple of hours. As for learning inkscape, I started small and fiddled with it till I learned how. If you want to learn how to do specific things their website explains how to do the basics. I made the ouline using bezier curves which is an option on the left side. You can fill by making a curve and right clicking in the bottom left and pulling up the fill and stroke options and clicking on the second box on the top. Inkscape

To get the image into Inkscape:

• Go to the Zhou Tong image page
• Under the image, there should be a link titled Zhou_Tong_GR.svg‎
• Right-click on this link and select Save Target As (or equivalent)
• Save it to your PC
• Open Inkscape
• Goto The File Menu, then Open
• Navigate to the copy of Zhou_Tong_GR.svg on your PC, and click Open
• That should do it.

I'm glad to hear that it worked. As far as tutorials are concerned, the ones embedded into Inkscape (under the help menu) are pretty good. Thanks for the info on Yue Fei, it was a very good analysis. Plus, I agree, it would have been interesting if Yue conquered Jin and turned against Song. Zhou Tong titles

I have discussed this before, and Grandmaster etc falls under the same type. To say he is the grandmaster (ideal in the lead) is fine, but repeated use is like using 'Mr.' before someone's name. --Nate1481( ^t/_c) 16:47, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Even for different individuals the same principle applies, saying "such & such is grandmaster of x style" is fine, but using is as a title is incorrect. I did read the article in brief, then removed the titles, re-reading I think I may have removed a couple from quotes in error. I use a simple rule of thumb for this; Would you include the title in the name of an article on the individual? Hope that makes sense.

This article is less of an issue than most but I make a big deal of it as lots of created last year styles insist on referring to there founder as 'Grandmaster Dr. MeTo O'sensai' at every mention.--Nate1481( ^t/_c) 08:50, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... sounds like a good idea, it would solve the problem of all of those future statements. I just hope it doesn't give people the impression that it's not a prophetic work... but you're right, I guess we could just write that it is a prophecy at the top. Zhou Tong again

MediaWiki's awful rendering of SVG is to blame here. There is a blur on the lines on the face of Zhou, so they have not been rendered. I've removed the blur and smoothed some of the curves out. It's back at User:DTR/Sandbox. If you still want to use blur, you'd have to export the SVG to a PNG image first.

Also, the reason you can see the image properly is that when you click on it, it is being rendered by your browser (and at full size), instead of MediaWiki. As far as I know, Safari, Firefox and Opera and possibly Konquerer contain support for SVG, whereas Internet Explorer requires the use of Abode's SVG plugin to render SVG. The "See also" section provides an additional list of internal links to other articles in Wikipedia that are related to this one as a navigational aid, and it should ideally not repeat links already present in the article or link to pages that do not exist. Mostly, topics related to an article should be included within the text of the article as free links.

Your inclusion of another notable Asian group definitely abides by the layout guide. Hata clan and Kaifeng Jews are definitely suitable related subjects for mutual "see also" links. Italia^vivi 18:56, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

You claim that I've breached WP:3RR on Kaifeng Jews. I was startled to see this allegation, so I checked the history, and there is clearly no violation there. I strongly advise you not to make a report on this, as you'll only be hurting your own reputation. I also suggest that you read the "see also" section you so kindly pointed out to me, since it talks only of "internal links to other articles in Wikipedia that are related to this one". The links that Elias Enoc and you have been adding are unrelated to the article, and that's why I've been removing them. If you really think they're related, make a case for it.
