Welcome[edit]

Hello, Ggombossy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MarB4 •ɯɒɹ• 22:08, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, George Gombossy[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, George Gombossy. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - User:Ggombossy. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at User:Ggombossy - you might like to discuss new information at [[Talk:User:Ggombossy|the article's talk page]].

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. MarB4 •ɯɒɹ• 22:09, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

June 2011[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Ggombossy, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. SPhilbrickT 13:53, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More information[edit]

I provided our standard wording on the reason behind the block of your name, but I want to be very clear what it means and what it doesn't mean.

If you have any questions, post them here; your ability to post elsewhere is restricted, but you can post here. I intend to monitor this page, but should I fail to do so in a timely manner, click on my talk page, and look for "Email this user" in the left hand column. (You might have to click on "toolbox".) (update:I've now stopped monitoring continuously, so please use the option to email me).

It doesn't mean you are not welcome to contribute to Wikipedia.

However, either you are the George Gombossy who is the subject of the article you are attempting to write or you are now.

  • If you are that person, then I will be happy to unblock you if you so choose, but per the guideline Wikipedia:Autobiography you should not be writing about yourself. If your main goal in coming to Wikipedia is to write about George Gombossy, I suspect you will not find that option appealing.
  • If you are not George Gombossy, but simply chose that name as a username, then the name is not acceptable per Username Policy, and I invite you to choose a different name, one that is not obviously connected to George Gombossy.

If you do choose to register a new name, please understand that the username page is intended to be about you and your relationship with Wikipedia. It is not a place for a bio about unrelated events, although long time contributors are allowed to have material about their lives outside Wikipedia.

If you do register a new name, and still want to write an article about George Gombossy, I urge you to use the Article Wizard, which will give you an option to start it as a user subpage, the preferred location for draft articles. The version of the article as it stands is not close to acceptable for a number of reasons, including the fact that it has zero references. I like working with references, and would be happy to assist you in adding references, as the coding is a bit tricky for new editors.--SPhilbrickT 14:12, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article George Gombossy has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.
