Victoria McCloud ‎[edit]

Hi there, just wanted to give you a heads-up that I have hidden from view a phrase at Victoria McCloud, since it was a partial sentence and I couldn't make sense of it. It's at the end of the introductory section, and you can see it when you go in to edit the article - it's bracketed by <!-- -->. Feel free to remove that formatting once you expand the sentence. If I can help with anything, just let me know. Thanks. Jessicapierce (talk) 18:09, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please get in the habit of putting punctuation before references - it will save other editors unnecessary work. Thanks. Jessicapierce (talk) 06:06, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

June 2018[edit]

Hello, could you please slow down and take some time to read the edit summaries and some of the wikipedia guidelines referred to rather than simply re-adding the same content to the article on Victoria McCloud. In particular, you should make sure you understand writing from a neutral point of view and the use of reliable, independent sources. Thank you, Melcous (talk) 12:27, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Phantom footnotes[edit]

I have again removed some of your recent additions, this time to Parliamentary privilege, because along with being a bit informally phrased (this isn't really how Wikipedia handles "see also" cases) and containing punctuation errors, they also contained phantom footnotes - [22][23]. What does that mean? Is it supposed to indicate citations 22 and 23 on that page? Or does it just mean you copied the phrasing from somewhere else (your McCloud article?) and left those numbers as is? It's confusing and non-standard.

Please take the time to learn how Wikipedia does things, and what it expects from its contributors, or your additions will continue to be removed. Jessicapierce (talk) 17:47, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria McCloud[edit]

I would very much appreciate it if you would take care of the following issues at Victoria McCloud, introduced in your most recent edits.

  • clarify "at 3 Dr Johnson's Buildings London" in the first sentence. Is this where McCloud was born?
  • fix sentences ending with multiple punctuation marks
  • put punctuation before citations rather than after
  • uncapitalize "truffle grower"
  • remove unnecessary "and" from list in first sentence
  • Does McCloud use gendered personal pronouns? If so, I don't think the "he/she" business is necessary here, unless the subject has specifically asked to not be gendered, or is provably known for identifying as non-gendered. I'm just seeing "she" in multiple articles, which fits with the female name.

Thanks. Jessicapierce (talk) 01:26, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The following also need rewording or clarification:

  • "was a bout of insanity"
  • "He/she has a last name identical to McCloud, CA."

Jessicapierce (talk) 01:31, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would strongly suggest that you remove the references in Victoria McCloud to a "bout of insanity" and to "converting him/herself surgically into Victoria", which you seem to have gotten from this source: [1]. This source is someone's personal blog post created to attack McCloud for her gender identity, and does not qualify as a reliable source; moreover, when writing articles, we need to make sure we do not give undue weight to minority views that are not widely held. I'd also suggest using she/her pronouns to refer to McCloud throughout the article, since that how is she is referred to in all of the cited sources, with the exception of the aforementioned blog post. Thanks for your attention. CataracticPlanets (talk) 02:19, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria McCloud (again)[edit]

Your editing of this article has been largely unhelpful and the most recent additions with random facts inserted into the opening paragraph that are not notable and make it very difficult to read are problematic for various reasons. Please stop your editing, and go to the talk page where you can suggest changes and engage with other editors. Continuing to edit without regards to what other editors are saying is the kind of behaviour that can lead to you being banned from editing wikipedia. Thank you, Melcous (talk) 05:46, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
