Kyrgyzstan[edit]

I see you added a number of speedy deletion requests for redirects to Kyrgyzstan without giving a reason. I can't see that these requests meet the requirements of WP:R#DELETE. You might want to be a bit cautious about requesting so many deletions without a valid reason -- it could be viewed as vandalism. --Fabrictramp | talk to me 17:58, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re [1]: the whole point of these redirects is that they are "wrongly named". If the user types in the wrong name then they will be directed to the page with the correct name. Pointing readers from likely misspellings to the correct spelling is one of the purposes of redirects. As such these redirects are perfectly legitimate and shouldn't be deleted. Redirecting articles[edit]

Wikipedia:Redirect says what redirects are good for.

There are two things wrong with what you did here:[2]

you inserted a redirect at the top of an article. A redirect should be the only thing on a page, apart from categories (see WP:Categorizing redirects) and Redirect templates.
you did not merge the content of the article Kyrgyx Russian to the page Kyrgyz people, and the target page Kyrgyz people does not contain any info about Kyrgyz people in Russia. It has sections about Kyrgyz in China and in Afghanistan, but not in Russia.

Whether Kyrgyz people is kept as a separate page or merged, what we really need is a citation for the facts stated, see WP:Verification. If we merge it without a citation, it is liable to be removed from the Kyrgyz people article, in which case the redirect would still be invalid. – Fayenatic London 21:55, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
