June 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Masquerade ball do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 16:21, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Fishery. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 16:23, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Museum of Civilization[edit]

The section you added on the Morning Star painting was copied directly from http://www.civilization.ca/cmc/exhibitions/tresors/treasure/283eng.shtml making it a Wikipedia:Copyright violations and it has been removed. Please don't copy and paste materials from other websites unless they have a compatible license such as shown here. Enter CBW, waits for audience applause, not a sausage. 21:06, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian War Museum[edit]

Thank you for uploading images of the museum. They are very helpful. That type of image should always be uploaded to the Commons, however, not locally here at the Commons -- that way, you are saving someone the trouble of transfering them over, and they can be used by other Wikipedia projects. Cheers. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 19:41, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, it appears you also uploaded them to the Commons -- why did you upload them in both places? --Skeezix1000 (talk) 19:42, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Hello. Wikipedia is not the place for promoting the Canadian War Museum's various social networking sites. Moreover, it is contrary to our guidelines to include links to social networking sites (see WP:EXT for more information). Hope that helps. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 14:00, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:MarkOneill.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MarkOneill.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:08, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Regeneration Hall CWM.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Regeneration Hall CWM.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 15:11, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
