Hi Forty two, any chance you could jump in and fill out some of the gaps in In the news‎? (E.g. the editing workshops story still needs a first half.) Or write a summary of the Pending changes evaluation and straw poll for News and notes, if you don't feel too involved? It would help a lot in getting this issue published; it is running late because of these two sections. Regards, HaeB (talk) 18:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

You're absolutely right. This should not have been deleted under G1. I've restored it and listed it WP:PNT.
Oh, just took a second look, turns out it was listed at WP:PNT [1] and went through due process. It should be deleted now, but you were right that it wasn't a G1. -- œ 09:45, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Logo of Symbiosis International University.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Logo of Symbiosis International University.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:19, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Logo of Symbiosis International University.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  Forty two  06:15, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

I suppose I should've timed this message at 10:10:10 too, but frankly, I can't be arsed. You know how it is.

Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?

So, take time out to have a bit of a giggle.

Reversion on Talk:AZB & Partners

Hi, this is with reference to your rollback on Talk:AZB & Partners. Legally speaking, law firms are not termed as "business" in India, law firms cannot be incorporated into private companies, and as partnerships they are defined under professional services. Telco (talk) 08:20, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

That is rather debatable. However, Wikipedia's internal maintenance is not governed by statute but by common sense.--  Forty two  10:27, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I hope you are not implying that you are the sole dispenser of common sense over here. Please show me precedents where law firm articles have been tagged under this Wikiproject. Please remember that it is courteous to revert with appropriate edit summaries when not reverting a vandal. Telco (talk) 15:19, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
You are correct. I am indeed not implying that I am the sole dispenser of common sense over here. Please find precedents yourself and comeback for help if you have difficulty navigating around the wiki. They are really not that difficult to find.
I also disagree that my reversion without providing any reason was uncivil. I had simply reverted an unexplained removal of the project banner which IMHO was un-constructive.
And for future reference, please avoid involving me in your bike shedding discussions.--  Forty two  14:25, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Hello. You recently added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [2]).

I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. A lot of similar references have been removed as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows 22:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Item number

Hi there. You've done a great job on Item number up to now, but that table looks terrible. I didn't revert it (yet) because you and I have been kinda working together on this, but I really don't think a table is going to be appropriate for the info that is being presented here. Wouldn't you agree after seeing it? BollyJeff || talk 00:05, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't quite agree with you on this. The list was a complete mess and it was difficult for the reader to make out which was the name of the movie and which was the name of the song. Making a table (in the lay out I have created) makes complete sense because:
  1. The information will be more clearly conveyed by virtue of having rows and columns.
  2. It will be easier to add information that can establish notability through the "notes" and the "references" sections.
  3. Unsourced info can be easily removed.
Other suggestions: I strongly suggest that we create a separate list article for a more exhaustive list thereby limiting the size of the list on this article. Trying to create an exhaustive list here does not make much sense frankly. Also could we merge the section in question with the example section? I am also considering renaming the "actors" column as "credits" as that would facilitate putting the names of the singers, choreographers, etc.
I would rather have you convinced before I go ahead with the work. I agree that the list does not exactly look pretty right now but that is probably because of all the empty cells in the notes and suggestions sections. I am sure once the list is done it will look fine. Cheers! --  Forty two  13:47, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
It looks bad when a row spans longer than a page, as it does in the 2010 range, because you have so many awards listed for Munni Badnam. Maybe list fewer and use the refs for the rest. Yes, all the blanks in columns 2, 5, and 6 look pretty bad. If you are actually planning to fill in many of these, which I suspect will be accompanied by removing non-notable songs, it should be okay. I would prefer to keep the examples section in there for songs that are especially notable or require some more explanation than fits in the table. If you want to move the big list to its own page, that's fine with me. In general, many editors frown upon large lists that aren't well sourced like in Bollywood songs, but if its eventually documented pretty well, it should be nice to not clutter up the main page. One more word of warning though, and this is another reason I was initially upset about the table. That table is pretty complicated with multiple rowspans and such. I fear that as other editors add songs, they will butcher the table. I have seen it happen many times. Anyway, have fun and again, nice work! BollyJeff || talk 18:00, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
You may notice that the table has gotten messed up already, as I said it would. Its just too complicated for the casual editor to understand. BollyJeff || talk 15:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Discussion moved to Talk:Item number

I need help putting up an edit notice. Can an admin/account creator copy the contents of User talk:Forty two/Sandbox to Template:Editnotices/Page/Item number? Anons and new editors regularly edit a list section on the page and mess-up the table; hence the request.  Forty two  12:38, 8 March 2011 (UTC)  Done

Marking articles students are working on

Howdy, Online Ambassador!

This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students and make sure these things are taken care of (especially for classes that aren't working with mentors):

  1. Add {{WAP assignment | term = Spring 2011 }} to the articles' talk pages. (The other parameters of the {{WAP assignment}} template are helpful, so please add them as well, but the term = Spring 2011 one is most important.)
  2. If the article is related to United States public policy, make sure the article the WikiProject banner is on the talk page: {{WikiProject United States Public Policy}}
  3. Add Category:Article Feedback Pilot (a hidden category) to the article itself. The second phase of the Article Feedback Tool project has started, and this time we're trying to include all of the articles students are working on. Please test out the Article Feedback Tool, as well. The new version just deployed, so any bug reports or feedback will be appreciated by the tech team working on it.

And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them {{The WikiPen}} if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.

Thanks! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:30, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

MOTD's State of Emergency + 1st of May's Motto

As you probably already know, we are facing some problems at MOTD. I am personally monitoring all the nominations on a daily basis and I'm finding very difficult to aprove the motto for the next day. The number of nominations has grown significantly, but even then it seems not enough. Please, if you have time, take a look at the nominations. And, if you like some of them but you think they are not good enough for being approved because of the set of links or and etcetera, please, try to improve them where it is possible. At this rate, I fear that we will see the end of the project. Thanks in advance.
I have also added a special nomination for this Sunday, 1st of May (International Workers' Day or May Day). Please, take a look at it if you can.
All the best. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 15:07, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I'm here again to bother you (again and again... sorry). Things seem to go much better at MOTD, right now. THANK YOU!!!
The reason why I'm writing you is the following: next Sunday (8th of May) is Mother's Day. I know that it is celebrated on different days around the world, but I'd love if we could (and are able to) make our "very-little" contribution in honour of all the mothers in the world. For the upcoming 8th of May (Sunday) there is already a motto in schedule, but I think that we can move the motto approved for that day to another date and to put one about mothers in place of it. Here is my nomination.
Thank you in advance and all the best! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 12:51, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

MOTD Barnstar for helping to keep our project "alive"

The MOTD Barnstar
I award the MOTD Barnstar to Forty two for helping to keep our project "alive" during this difficult time. Without you and your so precious help and contributions, we all probably would have seen the end of this project. A BIG THANK YOU!!! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 19:40, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

A brief note, please, read it carefully, especially the last part in bold: The last time we (our project) gave awards to our (its) members on last Summer, then the number of new nominations and reviews of the existing nominations has been diminishing. The end result was the "April crisis" with no mottos for about an entire week. On the contrary, I hope this award will help to maintain our level high or, at least, appropriate to its needs, the needs of our project. I think that around 10 minutes a week to "devote" to the project, when it is possible of course, should be more than enough to achieve the desired result.
Of course, I gave you this award personally, in a personal way and not in the name of the project. This is just a way to say a BIG thank you, so, refrain from returning the award to me or I would be overwhelmed by stars and banners and it is not my intention to "profit" on this, really! Please, do NOT return the award! And, there is no need to thank me, it was my pleasure.
Thanks again (I think I can speak for all the contributors to MOTD) and all the very best!!! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 19:40, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
