CATER project[edit]

Another editor placed a speedy deletion tag on this article. As the reviewing administrator, I removed it, for its fixable. There are several major problems: one is that it reads like a press release, Second, it quite possibly was taken from previous published material. Please see our Business FAQ for information about conflict of interest and copyright requirements. .

Third, and most important, I am also very unhappy with [1], a page on your site which reads: " The CATER project explained on Wikipedia

The CATER Project, a key initiative aiming at networked business and mass customization in the automotive industry through the development of innovative ICT tools and methods, is very pleased to announce that the project has an article devoted to the CATER project has been created on Wikipedia. CATER is one of the first European projects to take advantage of this new dissemination channel, which is expected to enhance the project impact; creating awareness on the CATER concepts and bringing more visitors to the CATER website."

The CATER article on Wikipedia can be accessed here.

To stay tuned with CATER developments, we recommend you to subscribe to the CATER newsletter. For any other query, please contact us."

It implies that this is an article created by uninvolved editors, but it clearly was created by someone acting in some manner as a PR agent for the product. This is using WP for advertising, which is not acceptable. I have therefore "stubbified" the article to the bare description of the project. I'll be watching this page, if you'd like some assistance in developing the article properly with third party published reliable sources, print or online (but not blogs, and not press releases, even if republished in business magazines). And I very strongly advise you to remove that page from your web site. DGG (talk) 13:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear DGG CATER is not a company or a commercial organisation, but a research project, funded by the European commission. Thus, WP is not used for advertising (CATER does not sell anything), but to create awareness on some research topics addressed by the CATER projects. I hope this is acceptable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.122.100.190 (talk) 17:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC) --Florent.genoux (talk) 10:04, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

commercial or non commercial, our policy is that it makes no difference. Promotional is promotional. "Creating awareness" of things that are not yet notable is exactly what we mean by promotion, and is not acceptable. The intrinsic value to humanity of the object is irrelevant. Once the projects have become notable, with multiple 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases), then is the time to include them in Wikipedia. Thanks for frankly stating the purpose clearly. DGG (talk) 03:08, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:Salamas logo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Salamas logo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:28, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
