Early Days for new article

Proposed Deletion

A wikipedian, going by the name of Fram has proposed that the List of films which share their name with a title of a song article be deleted because of the following concern

Indiscriminate cross-categories list. Films named after songs? Songs named after films (Breakfast at Tiffany's)? Coincidences? Song and film both named after something else (Wuthering Heights)? These films have nothing in common but this tiny aspect, which is not a defining part of the film in many (even most) cases.

Not meaning to sound rude -at all, but in all honesty, who gives a flying fuck whether it's not "a defining part of the film". I wasn't trying to imply that this list was connecting plot with song, or song with plot or whatever way around. Furthermore, song titles have always (whether purely by coincidence (unlikely but possible) or otherwise) been used for titles of films. It is my opinion that by the fact that titles of hits have been adapted for titles of movies in such a broad way, an article is merited.

I have decided that if this dispute is not settled and the termination of this article meets its inevitability, I will simply turn it in to a subpage of my own userpage. However I would like this article to remain part of the written encyclopedia for as long as possible --Feeling free (talk) 14:22, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Having a subpage where the aim is to improve an article so that the arguments that lead to its deletion are no longer valid (e.g. lack of reliable sources) is acceptable: having az subpage just to keep content which is not suitable for the main article space is not acceptable though. Wikipedia is not a free webhost. As for your arguments for keeping, they are basically that you consider it an interesting phenomenon. This is not a sufficient reason to keep something. It has to have been the subject of significant attention in reliable independent sources. If you don't have better arguments, I'll turn this into an WP:AFD so a consensus can be found on it. The goddamn List of films that most frequently use the word "fuck" hasn't been "the subject of significant attention in reliable independent sources". And thats been bloody canonized.

Also, my userpage is my userpage. There's no rules, no regulations. So, if I want to transfer this article over to a subpage, i will do so speedily before it gets deleted, which looks possible.--Feeling free (talk) 14:59, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
