Hi Guillaume,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture File:Trompette - premier piston - montage perspective.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on October 18, 2010. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2010-10-18. howcheng {chat} 19:15, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notification. I won't alter the caption, because my English is not very good, but it should be noticed that it is not the addition of a fourth valve which makes the instrument fully chromatic. A three valve trumpet is as chromatic as a fourth valve one, the fourth valve just makes it reach lower notes. However, the statement could be correct if "fully chromatic" means "able to play all the standard pitches above the fundamental note of the instrument".
As a side note, there are trumpets where the fourth valve has a different aim. Well, at least one trumpet, Ibrahim Maalouf's one, on which the fourth valve makes it able to play fourth tones (used in oriental music) instead of the standard half tones. Just a cultural note. --Eusebius (talk) 21:14, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
