- Hmm... on the article it says that the two are considered to be the same, so you may get some resistance to creating a new article. I think that for the time being I would recommend creating a subsection for the data retention article that goes into detail about data preservation and also shows how the two differ, since the two aren't exactly the same. They're similar and they overlap, but they do have some subtle differences. This will give you a good foundation to creating an article about data preservation as a whole. Let me know if you need any help. One thing I can definitely recommend is that you need sourcing that is specifically about data preservation as well as content that covers both concepts and would show the difference between the two. I'm not sure if this can be used as a reliable source offhand, but it could be helpful with finding other things.
- If your college has to it, I definitely recommend looking at LISA. It's abstracts, but it could help point you in the right direction. I can pretty much guarantee that you're going to have to go the academic database route for this offhand, as the difference between the two will be something that will be most covered and noticed by academics and people within the digital preservation field or that heavily deal with this. I actually received my MLIS in digital archiving, so let me know if you need help looking for sourcing.
- Also, be extremely careful about writing in an essay narrative and make sure that you avoid overusing quotes. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:57, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
