I saw this on Voceditenore's talk page and came to take a look. I have a comment: by putting the cast into collapsible sections then one cannot search the page very well. For example if one goes to Opera North: history and repertoire, seasons 1997–98 to 2003–04 one can do a page search for Rebecca Caine's performances very easily. On this page, to search for Todd Thomas' performances one has to first open all the More Information sections. IMO this makes the page much less useful than it could be. Apologies for butting in ;-) almost-instinct 12:03, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I appreciate you taking the time to take a look. I hear what you are saying and do not disagree. Honestly, I had not thought of someone wanting to do and edit-find for a particualr person in the cat lists. I could make all the sub tables expanded, but worry that would make the over-all list too big to read easily. For example, If some wanted to do a sort on title to see all the productions on Aida, it might be hard to compare those each other if they are all spaced apart by the cast lists. Hmmmm. One thought I had would be to remove the information that is in the far right-hand column and use the other information for a sortable table of contents. Then I would add a section below the table for each productions with details like the cast, etc. In the table I could add a "see below" link that would take the viewer to the sub section below. Eric Cable  |  Talk  13:46, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Eric, I just popped by to say that with 64 seasons, you probably shouldn't try to get them all on one page. I agree with AlmostInstinct about the undesirability of collapsing material. I suggest you take as a model (for formatting and content) the series on Opera North:
Some of the information currently in your table is probably excessive, e.g. the names of all the chorus members and the rehearsal pianist. If one of the chorus members went on to become a notable opera singer, perhaps this could be mentioned as a note. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 14:30, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for stopping by. I am getting good feedback while this is in progress and that's a good thing. I see your point. My only concern about breaking it down into separate pages is then you have to go to all of them to see say, all of the Magic Flute productions. Yes, chorus is excessive. I think I may go with no chorus (unless they became well known as you say), and production staff only if mentioned in the newspaper like the fight coordinator for the 2007 Romeo and Juliet. I think I forgot that this is actually two separate projects: creating the list for Wikipedia, AND creating a complete database for Opera Carolina to use for their records. Eric Cable  |  Talk  18:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But do you guys agree that it should be a spearate page, not a subsection on Opera Carolina? Eric Cable  |  Talk  18:22, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, do you think I'll get into "that's advertising" trouble for having the two upcoming productions listed? Eric Cable  |  Talk  19:54, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
