On your username[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Though you are welcome to contribute under the name you have now, provided it is not for promotional purposes, it is strongly advised that you change your name, as it appears to be promotional. Though I may be mistaken, it may lead others to assume you are here for promotional purposes (promotion is disallowed on here). In short, just avoid being promotional(spamming), and you should be fine. Happy editing, Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 02:54, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Apology[edit]

Sorry for the confusion before about the deletions. It is a good start for your article, make sure you expand it! Thanks. RES2773 (talk) 03:05, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

July 2017[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. But this username doesn't violate the policy, because they haven't done anything promotional yet. As the page says, "A user who both adopts a promotional username and also engages in inappropriately promotional behaviors in articles about the company, group, or product, can be blocked." And that "Users who adopt such usernames, but who are not editing problematically in related articles, should not be blocked." Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 04:23, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jjjjjjdddddd: It violates policy because it represents a group. That's what Kudpung says above, had you read it. "Dave at Erbacon film productions" would be ok. "Erbacon film productions" is not. It has nothing to do with being promotional. Once again, you would do well to actually read our policies and guidelines rather than go off what you saw somewhere else. If you don't know the shortcut that addresses a situation you ought to step back. Chris Troutman (talk) 00:42, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
But it says that the two types of usernames defined as "promotional", on WP:ORGNAME, are disallowed, and yet it says "A user who (...) adopts a 'promotional' username (...) but who are not editing problematically in related articles, should not be blocked." See WP:ISU. Chris Troutman (talk) 01:15, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, fair enough. Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 03:07, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bays, WV[edit]

Also, I thought I'd change the name from "Bays, WV" to "Bays, West Virginia", as per the rest of the placenames on Wikipedia. It should leave a redirect you can click to get to the current page. Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 04:37, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
