Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Move review for AIM-174B

[edit]

An editor has asked for a Move review of AIM-174B. Because you closed the move discussion for this page, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the move review. MWFwiki (talk) 23:44, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for listing the AIM-174B discussion at the Close requests page. I wasn't even aware that page existed. And yes, I realize that it would have been improper for you to close it at that point. I was just hoping you or the other user knew of a way to expedite getting it closed. And you did. So thanks. BilCat (talk) 02:08, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please note: There hasn't been any discussion yet, the other comments immediately below the move template are from 2017. I made the mistake of posting the template at the top of the page, but nothing else there is related. I have moved it to the bottom again, as it should be, and re-merged my duplicate comment. I apologize for any confusion. - Adolphus79 (talk) 14:13, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Adolphus79 No problem, I'd be a hypocrite if I said I don't make my own share of mistakes around here, and I didn't even notice that the content from the top wasn't actually part of the discussion. I just didn't want the discussion to end up delayed due to that, thanks for letting me know! ASUKITE 14:51, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's actually what made me move it, because the comment immediately below now appeared to be related to the request at first glance. - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:16, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you forgot to move the talk page

[edit]

It looks like you missed your move the talk page for Talk:Lost (TV series). Raladic (talk) 21:07, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Raladic I wasn't able to, somehow the talk page was move protected and not the article. Normally when closing RMs, checking protection on the main page is part of my workflow, I've never thought to check the talk page as well, but that's something I'll be doing going forward! ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gabriel Weinberg (DuckDuckGo)

[edit]

Please I want to know why you redirected the page to DuckDuckGo Wikipedia article Spaceteez (talk) 16:23, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Spaceteez Because we had a discussion already about this page: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gabriel Weinberg, in which it was decided to be deleted. In that case, the article would qualify for speedy deletion under CSD G4, or Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. In this case, I redirected it instead of marking for deletion as the disambiguation (DuckDuckGo), while probably not necessary, wasn't hurting either as a possible redirect. My recommendation would be to draft an article at WP:AFC or in userspace before publishing, assuming you can find enough sources to alleviate the WP:GNG and WP:NBIO concerns brought up in that discussion, at which point it can be moved into mainspace (and could possibly be put up for discussion a second time, hence the focus on good sourcing first) Hope that helps!
