Apologies for snotty comment
I wanted to apologize to you for a snotty dismissive comment I made awhile back during an AfD. Your efforts at discussion during that AfD were commendable, and I was wrong to characterize your "new school" brand of deletionism with some of the more well known hit&run deletionists of yesteryear. I meant to apologize right when it happened but got side-tracked by other wiki-drama. I appreciate your refined level of sarcasm and astute grasp of some of the currents in wikipedia. Keep up the good work! - WeniWidiWiki 06:52, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- No hard feelings, and thanks for coming forward and apologising. Trust me - Elara's been called much worse by others - some people get very protective of their vanity or non-notable articles :) ✎ Peter M Dodge (Talk to Me) 19:17, 3 February 2007 (UTC) Give me a good slap if I shouldn't've replied, Elara :P

Cool Cat RfA
My comment was more about Cool Cat than about you :) I would have said the same had it been an RfC against a user I had not associated with, if I felt it was unjustified and ill-planned. riana_dzasta 05:19, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- That's cool :) I'm getting ready for a maths exam I have on Wednesday (I was sick during the actual exam last year, so I have to do this to make it up), so I'm sitting here, staring blankly at a page full of matrices without the slightest idea what I'm meant to do with them... *sigh* Ah well, I'll push on :) I'm trying to avoid this place, but... meh. My RfA
Thanks for voting in it. It's a shame people accuse me of being a sockpuppet just because I know some editors who were blocked for vandalism. Just because they taught me how to use Wikipedia, doesn't mean I'm a sockpuppet.
Anyhow, how are you?? I'm OK! --sunstar nettalk 01:00, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Calton/RfC
I read your comments on the RfC page and that one comment you quoted from me was, yes, completely rude on my part, but I, had at that point, lost my temper and said somethings that shouldn't have been said...I was pissed and upset. My fault there.
As for the KXGN page, I am actively working with User:A Man In Black on that page and we are actually getting along (which is new, as AMIB and I haven't had the best wiki "relationship").
I apologize to you for reading the comments I made on Calton's talk page (the ones you quoted)...those were wrong on my part and I take full responsibility for them and I assure you, the RfC, is not just about the KXGN page. - SVRTVDude 10:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I must disagree with your comment on the RfC, Elaragirl. This isn't an article dispute at all; I've never even seen the KXGN page before now. For me, this is an optimistic hope that editors, even established ones, can't get away with being so overtly hostile to everyone. It sounds like you've seen this too, so I hope I can convince you to not make this issue sound like it's just a petty article dispute. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 11:17, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I imagine my comment looks rather out of place now. Your original comment on my talk page misled me into thinking you would be opposed to incivility, but I've now read your teacup page. Sorry to have bothered you, then. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 10:05, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- You said "However, no matter how incivil he is, civility for the sake of civility remains and will always be meaningless." Do you really think so? Civility is one of the 5 pillars. Why should we tolerate that behavior and not call for it to stop? Mangojuicetalk 18:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- The point of the Code of Conduct is simple - respect others as you want to be respected. If you don't respect others, don't expect to be respected. If you're putting on a fake veneer of civility - well, a slap from a hand in a velvet glove hurts just as well as a punch from a clenched fist. ✎ Peter M Dodge (Talk to Me) 18:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Coquettish Cabals, and the like
I didn't miss any cabal meetings, did I? Gah. The smile did improve my day, yes, but only once I located the mouth of the... gimp creature... in Image:Nuvola apps gimp.png. Yes, the smile was encouraging, but look at those eyes! Looks like it's overdosed on some sort of narcotic; appears downright voyeuristic. Please enlighten my on the nature of the WikiWub. Is it a variant of WikiLove? How rogue rouge.
Not many things are going on, I suppose... hope Wikipedia editing is making you feel better, in general. There's no better place to be sure that what you're doing is right, according to set guidelines and policies, and hell, even common sense. Rather than just trying to exist (like a nation, or MySpace), Wikipedia tries to exist well. It certainly gives an ethos not often present elsewhere. I also hope that real life is going well for you, that you're not—bored from being tired. For me, life is okay; school is interesting enough and I'm doing well (except in courses that consist solely of questions like "List are three ways life was hard for settlers? Copy from Use your textbook to answer"). I'll try to be available on IRC. See you around :) --GracenotesT § 03:09, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
my opinion
I just stumbled over your user page and felt the irresistible urge to offer you my opinion. I believe "Official Archenemy of the Dark Lord of Inclusion" and "User:Elaragirl/Memory" are diametrically opposed to several points of WP:NOT, e.g. this and this. Have you cleared these things with anyone familiar with policy?—Kncyu38 (talk • contribs) 03:17, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to upset you. I actually made this comment to find out more about the obvious little discrepancies and not-so-occasional exceptions from policy. Trying to learn. On your costs. And those of your loved ones. While, at the same time, the sun is shining out of my butt. I'm so sorry. But, as all of your userspace is viewable by anyone, maybe you should be prepared to hear comments about it every once in a while. However, have a nice day (and kindly notice that, contrary to you, I am not using dots to set off ".. nice day" in order to actually wish you a bad day or whatever you were trying to say with that).—Kncyu38 (talk • contribs) 04:00, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I believe the page should not be removed. Personal things are not categorically prohibited in wikipedia, plus, some of the deceased might be wikipedians. Wooyi 04:04, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good point, you're probably right. —Kncyu38 (talk • contribs) 04:15, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Your request to for me to badger
RE: [1] Thank you for the note ;). Much as I do not interperate a decision to keep or delete an article I’ve nominated for deletion as a bad thing or take its outcome personally. A nomination of support or oppose isn't a win-loose for me either. It’s about consensus, and what’s best for the project and a chance to learn from the more experienced editors, in which areas to grow strengths. I clearly enjoy doing what I’ve been doing and have begun changes based on input from you and others. This morning I did a rewrite and cleanup on the article Market liquidity and created the article National Futures Association. I plan much more of this and build strengths in those areas I lack. However, this may not please all who oppose based on that fact alone, but hopefully it can show versatility, and the ability to adapt an learn from those of you who are truly gifted in writing articles. The tools will certainly help in the repetition of vandal fighting, but most of what vandal fighting is, includes many hours of reading through hundreds of articles, research, screening, project page discussions, checks for open proxies, AIV in some cases, tracking down sock account, and of course the many thankless strawman arguments one receives from angry spammers. From the outside it only appears be a few reverts with automatic tools (popups or vandal proof), but much more goes into the type of countervandalism I participate in than pulling the trigger on a couple bad links. I do hope you reconsider, and feel free to drop me a note any time. thanks --Hu12 00:17, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Too bad you're not a gang bang ;) I just love older woman making irresponsible & inappropriate remarks on my talk page that make me feel violated... ;) Anyway, having a kind of bad day on here right now, & I'm thankful you left that message on my talk. C ya around... :) Spawn Man 23:20, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Wanna be wikifriends? I've lost 2 this month & was wondering if I make that up by gaining one. I'm not really as bad as everyone says I am. Besides, I saw your "Memories" subpage & figured you might like a new friend. Geez though, how come so many people you know have died? I only have hadaround 2 people ever die on me, & they weren't even close friends. You don't have to talk about it though. Plus, I don't know where you live, but the great ball of fire is covered by clouds where I am... :) Have a great day! Spawn Man 23:34, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- I wish I knew the answers, or perhaps I do. I knew a lot of people when I was a mental health professional, doing counciling and the like. That's not even all the people I know who died, just the ones who were the very closest to me.
- As far as friendships go, I consider lots of people my friend. I think that it's always important to remember there's a living human being on the other end of the edits. I don't let myself get worked up over Wikipedia too much, but do remember who nominated you for admin. You *are* my friend. --ElaragirlTalk|Count 23:40, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Seems a childish thing to do, but I'll add you to my friends list. I had to change that to "Wiki" friends rather than just friends in case you got the wrong idea lol. And of course I remember who nominated me for RfA. Spectre wasn't it? Just kidding lol.... Anyway, so you were a mental health proffesional? How old are you, I thought you were much younger. Anyway, I'm trying to get some editing donre, but keep on getting pulled away by this whole Riana RfA thing... Thanks, :) Spawn Man 23:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- (dryly) I'm older than 30 but not yet 40. And yes. I was a licenced MHP focusing on aberrant mental behaviors, and have a bachelor degree in interdisciplinary studies (English and education) and a masters in psychology (specifically, abnormal psychology). I worked with several organizations and the state for several years until .. events .. made me quit and move along. --ElaragirlTalk|Count 23:57, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, there's nothing bad about being older. The best thing about Wikipedia is that you act at your mental age, & people (should) judge you on your contributions & efforts to the 'Pedia, not how old you are. When people thought I was younger, everytime I got involved in a discussion they discounted me cause they said I was too young to understand. So I told them I was older & hey presto, they (hopefully) respected me. This message has made no sense whatsoever so far lol. Anyway, humans are horrible creatures anyway, in my view. I'm smart for example, but everyone focusses on looks. I'm not horrible looking, but I'm not the shiniest piece of china in the store if you get what I mean. I can contribute so much to this world, but I'm just getting very frustrated in life. Ah well... I bet I've bored you to death, so I'll go off & do some editing (hopefully). C you around EG. :) Spawn Man 00:09, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
RE: DGAF
I know! If we made it into policy, I think we'd solve everything. This, and DBAD, and we are set. It really changed everything; we can both testify to the dick I was over Esperanza, and I gotta say that this policy is easily 90% responsible for helping me, with a wikibreak helping and, if it's not overly forward, your own outlook also helped. I'm doing ok, I'm a bit worried about Dev, she seems a bit upset. There's been more Esperanza talk...after the first few comments she went on wikibreak. She should be back in full force soon enough, I hope. DoomsDay349 04:04, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Not fair
This is patently unfair. There are indefbanned trolls and plenty of them edit ghoulhouse: therefore to assume that IP trolling is the work of the ghouls is a personal attack? Oooh, serious fucking business. That isn't a personal attack either, I'm just chatting to my friend Elara.
BTW, I just flat loved the "and part is probably the sort of "take up for the wimmenz" things that some cultures have" comment, not least because it's just completely accurate. I often have stop and think for a sec as to whether that is clouding my better judgment. Rather sexist, I know, but it's somewhat ingrained by now. Bad Moreschi! Oh, never mind, too later. seeking feedback on Guigemar
Hi Elara, over the weekend I've done a bit of work on Guigemar, the first of The Lais of Marie de France, and I would appreciate your input. Primarily I'm concerned that the plot summary may be too long, because the original poem is only 886 lines, and I didn't want to end up with a plot summary that was longer than the original poem. At the same time, there are a number of plot developments that I wanted to include in the description, like the magic boat. Supernatural elements are a major part of these works, and I don't think they should be cut out of the descriptions. Thanks!
P.S. Please don't nominate it for deletion. :) --Kyoko 23:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Kyoko, I don't think you should delete it. Have you seen Robert Frost's poems before? For example, "The Road Not Taken." Poetry can have many different and ambiguous meanings and they should be explained to the viewer as well as sufficiently analyzed. Real96 03:31, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand. I don't plan on deleting the article after creating and expanding it. Do you mean that the summary should remain as long as it is? FYI, further discussion of the article should probably go to Talk:Guigemar. I'm just putting this one reply here so Elaragirl can see what's going on, if she's interested. Thanks for your input. --Kyoko 04:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- It would be better, Kyoko, to put the text of the poetry along with the analysis in order to let the viewers see for themselves what is going on, rather than have a third party telling them what the poem is about. It should fall under some copyright expiration regarding works, since it has been more than 75 years since the publication. Real96 15:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Layout, PTSD
Yes, I took your layout, and I like it!
Concerning PTSD: I had a closer look yesterday at the users DPeterson and RalphLender, because I was fascinated at how similar they were. At first I thought they must be good friends, in a relationship where one imitates the other, but I came to the conclusion that they are the same person using two different nicks. I then found out via their talkpages that another user, shotwell, had suspected this before and there was mediation or some sort of formal dispute resolution about this. There are not only two of them but seven alter egos, there is a list [here.] A formal procedure to break the privacy of the user and look up his IPs (A Request for Checkuser) was declined. Apparently sockpuppets that have managed to survive more than 100 edits are immune to this procedure. I believe user shotwell is right, these are all sockpuppets. Not only DPeterson and RalphLender but also three others, MarkWood, AWeidman and JonesRD were active on PTSD-talk. Under these circumstances I believe a poll makes no sense. --Grace E. Straw poll on Srebrenica massacre
As a result of persistent edit warring on Srebrenica massacre, I have proposed that a straw poll be taken regarding one of the issues involved—namely, how to title the section currently named "Alternative views". This will help us to determine whether there is a consensus on what to title this section, or at least a consensus on what not to call it. The straw poll can be found at Talk:Srebrenica_massacre#Straw poll on "Alternative views" section. I have posted this announcement to each of the 19 users who have made multiple edits to Srebrenica massacre this year. —Psychonaut 13:48, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
