Background Information[edit]

Ebenezer Fellowship Center is a local church situated in the semi arid North-Eastern part of the Republic of Kenya; Rift-Valley province, Turkana district, Kakuma Division within Kakuma Refugees Camp

Brief Church History[edit]

Ebenezer fellowship Center was founded in Walda Refugees camp on the 7th May 1992; it was named after the Zairian community as every nationality had its own church. After then all nationalities decided to have a fellowship in which members from different nationalities and denominations were included and that fellowship turned to a church known as Zairian Christian Church.

When Walda Refugees Camp was closed in 1993 refugees were relocated to Kakuma Refugees Camp where the current church is located but rebaptized Ebenezer fellowship center. Ebenezer fellowship center is located in the Congolese (Zairian) Community but is a multinational congregation.

Demographics information[edit]

The church has got 320 members from different nationalities presented as follows: Congolese,Burundians,Rwandans, Ethiopians ,Sudanese, Kenyan

Socio-Economic Information[edit]

Refugee believers depend on the food distribution by WFP (World Food Program) ,the church has got 40 orphans and 24 widows.

Among the national believers 50 adults and 80 children belong to the primitive local community that has got very limited and unsafe source of water, inadequate education and health facilities.

Spiritual Background[edit]

The church believes in God the father, Jesus Christ the Son and Founder of our faith and in the Holy Spirit as the leader and guider. Our faith is built on the teachings of the apostles and prophets

Evangelism & New Church Planting[edit]

The church is involved in the Evangelization of the unreached local Turkanas and preceded to church planting in the remote areas. The church is as well involved to train Refugees servants to prepare them know their missions and ministry when they go back to their homeland

Support to the Needy People[edit]

The church has an orphan, widow and vulnerable project. The church has planned to start an income generating activity project to fund the orphans, widows and vulnerable project.
