Whoops. My bad. I thought that that section was for current projects. Well, no harm done. Glad to have met you. -- kenb215 03:21, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CAT:CSD[edit]

Duh, I'm such an idiot. Linking to the CAT: redirect was okay, but linking directory to Category required a preceding colon. Thanks, it would have been embarassing for my userpage to get deleted like that. --Deathphoenix ʕ 03:52, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Many thanks for that, it took more thinking and looking than a typical CSD U1 requires. :-) --Deathphoenix ʕ 03:58, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

EWS23, thanks for the barnstar!! I'm most honoured to receive such recognition for this usually thankless task. Once again, thanks, and happy editing! See you around, Tangotango 08:09, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of sex positions[edit]

Just so you know, the difference between 69 and 96 is that 96 is done back-to-back, with the participants needing to contort significantly in order to acheive the double congress. Powers 15:40, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking 24.181.70.227[edit]

I noticed you blocked this user for 72 hours. He's quite likely the same person as Woodylogan, who has been blocked indefinitely. The IP has already been blocked once, and immediately began vandalizing after it expired. I'd recommend blocking him for longer (or indefinitely, as with the account) since he has done nothing but repeatedly vandalize since he has come to the site. Wafulz 17:47, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd just like to say thanks for the prompt and friendly reply. Wafulz 18:01, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey my dear Eric![edit]

How are you doing, sweet Eric? I don't know if something like that happens to you, but everytime I see "EWS23" or any combination that even remotely resembles, I smile ;) I'm so glad you liked the Soundtrack idea, hun - and I love your selection, btw! Perhaps we should get together and talk more about music, sounds ok? Anyway, things are working just fine over here, enjoying a few days off from work always does wonders to my mood ;) How about you, hun? Are you going somehwere any time soon? *hugza* Phaedriel The Wiki Soundtrack! - 11:00, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unsigned Draftees[edit]

We must both be using our lunch time to do a little Wiki-work ;-) Your intro para sounds good. I keep up with the Spurs in our local paper and can easily keep the info in the new section up to day. Do you have a better name for the subheading? --Mikebrand 17:46, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Pherring[edit]

Pherring is doing his best; he's trying to get into RC patrol, and I'm helping him out. I think the problem is that when he goes to revert, it's already been reverted, and he ends up reinstating instead of reverting; I'm very concerned, though, that he will quickly become discouraged and feel bitten if he ends up on the receiving end of many more {{bv}} messages, or worse, a block. I'm guessing that you're probably watching at this point, so I thought I'd give you a heads up that he's a good guy and doing his best. Essjay (Talk) 06:32, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, Essjay. I did my best to assume good faith, as I hope you saw in my first message. You've been around longer than me, so I don't have to tell you what is typically thought of when you see a new user who shows uncommon knowledge of Wikipedia (edit summaries, signatures, using the phrase "reverting vandalism," etc.), but appears to be using misleading edit summaries to seemingly vandalize pages like Wikipedia and User:Jimbo Wales. However, I obviously trust you to the fullest, and will not leave any more messages along those lines to User:Pherring. I have also removed my {{bv}} and apologized for it. I hope your friend will continue to join us, and best of luck in the teaching. EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 06:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely; I didn't mean to sound harsh (that's the second time I've said that today, maybe I need to start having someone proof my comments...), I was just worried he'd end up blocked before I could fix things. ;) If you check his contribs, you'll see where we did a little practice in my sandbox, showing him to use a summary and everything; I just forgot to fire rollbacks at him and see how he responded. (I feel like a tank commander!) Anyhow, I've suggested that he look for vandalism on pages that are less likely to be caught; it'll benefit the project and keep him out of trouble.
I appreciate your work (I see you around all the time) and I'm glad to know you were on the case; not everybody would notice that it's a bit odd for a brand new user to display Wikipedia knowledge right off the bat. (Then again, most aren't spending thier time in a chat channel with admins, either. ;D) Anyhow, keep up the good work! Essjay (Talk) 06:53, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response and kind comments. Don't worry, your words weren't harsh at all. Another user in the same situation may have left on my talk page, "zOMG!!! The dude was just trying to help and you gave him a {{bv}}?? Go read WP:BITE and if you do it again you'll end up on WP:ANI!" :o) One of my strongest beliefs is not biting the newcomers, so anytime someone even hints that I might have, I try my best to evaluate my actions and reverse the situation if possible. I hope we get to work together more in the future, and always feel free to stop by my talk page for even the smallest of reasons. EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 07:01, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smallest of reasons[edit]

The smallest of reasons!

I hereby stop by your talk page for the smallest of reasons and award you this minor edit barnstar for the following minor edits, and many more of their kind:

  • m Cheese (Reverted edits by 71.246.198.157 (talk) to last version by Raul654)

Keep up the good work! Essjay (Talk) 07:11, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, Essjay, thanks for the barnstar. Of all the admin tools, I often find that the rollback button has been the most useful among them, especially when dealing with that strings of vandalism such as was occuring on Wikipedia earlier tonight. I am most honored to receive a barnstar from you, and let me know if there's anything I can do for you in the future. (P.S.- Apologies if you prefer people to respond on their own talk pages. I tend to respond on the other person's talk page, as I love to see the orange message bar, and I wouldn't want to deny others that pleasure. ;o) Take care.) My Warn template[edit]

I appreciate your comments on my non-admin fwarn template linking to AIV. After reading your comments, I can absolutely see your point and I've made changes to the template to reflect it. Again, thanks for the constructive comments. This is, after all, my first foray beyond editing articles and I need all the advice I can get. BrianZ(talk) 20:01, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your Help[edit]

Eric, thanks for your help with editing the Resident Evil Template so I could add the Resident Evil Orchestra album. :)

RfA standards[edit]

I think your standards are fine. Open ended questions focused on what really matters about adminship is the way to go. Of course, everyone will still answer each question differently since it is a judgment call. For example, no one is up to speed on every policy out there, so it is up to you to decide which ones are the key ones and how someone shows they are well versed in those policies. I see your question 2 and 3 as fitting into question 1, since knowledge and interpersonal skills are a big part of whether someone is likely to abuse/misuse admin tools. NoSeptember 10:04, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Well I trust someone's gut feel for whether a person will misuse tools over arbitrary objectively measured standards any day. NoSeptember 10:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello back from icitrom (Isac Citrom)[edit]

I hope I clicked the right link to contact you in the way you expected.

Yes, a "What Links Here" type list would be perfect. That's the sort of thing I was looking for.

For example, The Private Pilot Licensing page links directly to the Pilot licensing in Canada page at the Private Pilots Licence section. But, I changed that section to read as Private pilot licence.

Ideally, I would like to be able to make the corrections on my own and not have to bother anyone. It is not clear to me if I can. Are you saying that the "What Links Here" list is an admin function? And, where do I find this list?

And, by the way, thank you very much for the warm welcome. I really appreciate that.

Regards.

--Isaac

Yes, I see the "What Links Here" link now[edit]

Eric;

Yes, I see the "What Links Here" link now. Duh. Ok, Thanks.

I have a supplementary question if you don't mind. I was trying to make a WikiLink from one section to another in the same page. I tried SectionName but that only worked if there was no other WikiLink elsewhere in Wikipedia. I tried #SectionName but it appeared as #Sectionname. So far, the only way I got it to work is PageName#SectionName. Is that the right way? And, probably I should use an auto variable for the PageName, correct?

Thanks and regards,

--Isaac

Todays Featured Article Vandalsim[edit]

Today's featured Article is getting hit left right and center, can it be semi-protected in order to cut down on teh valdamism? Æon Insane Ward 23:20, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not a prob.....some of the images that were used were shall we say....nasty. Æon Insane Ward 23:25, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Roger that! I will Æon Insane Ward 23:35, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Question. On the CVU (and User pages) there is a Template for the current Vandal Alert Status. This Template is as off and on been the target of vandalism. Is there anyway this could be protected from IP and brand new editors for good? Æon Insane Ward 00:02, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh Cool! then the issue is moot thanks! Æon Insane Ward 00:08, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Testing[edit]

I wasn't testing. I know how to use sandbox. I was, infact, acting to remove a picture of a penis on a page that likely draws many children. Perhaps, you would have prefered that I leave such an image on that page? If so, please do feel free to repost a picture of a penis on the article. I assure you that I will "test" and remove it once again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Srwm4 (talkcontribs) .

No problem. Thanks.

It wasn't a test.[edit]

The "test" I did on Battle of Smolensk (1943) was in fact not a test. When I visited the page, the main picture was replaced by a picture of an erect penis, so I deleted it.

Harry Potter[edit]

Talk:Harry Potter#Speculative nature tag

Add the template to the "Future" section and keep it out of the rest of the article, along with keeping out any information about the future! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianjd (talkcontribs)

Woodylogan vandal[edit]

Last night, I discovered that User:24.181.67.89 is a new sock of User:Woodylogan, whose specialty is making numerous sneaky vandalistic edits to articles on children's films (for example, changing a film to an incorrect year). I am in the middle of reverting over 150 such edits made in the last two days. The IP address was blocked for 24 hours last night, but in light of the user's history (I see you blocked another sock for 8 days, expiring today), could you make the block longer? Thanks. NawlinWiki 11:59, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes and I'm sorry[edit]

Yes I have been having issue with two other users and this is for the best. I may come back in a month or two (hopefully everything will have blown over) Æon Insane Ward 06:10, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will think about it. this is sad....Æon Insane Ward 06:12, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

Quick favor before I jet. User:74.136.222.198 keeps posting on my talk page could you please ask him to quit. Thanks. Æon Insane Ward 06:57, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The talk page is for discussions, I feel Aeon1006 harassed me the other night, and have posted to ask him to stop, and to please comment on his actions. His removal of my civil and important comments constitutes a violation of Wikipedia policy. 74.136.222.198 06:58, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aeon[edit]

Whether Aeon decides to leave or not is besides the point. He conspired with other users to launch a campaign of harassment against me the other night, a campaign for which I am still feeling the repercussions as I am unable to edit my talk page due to his lying and harassment calling my comments on my own talk page vandalism. This issue needs to be addressed, whether Aeon is pretending to leave Wikipedia or not.

Last night when he harassed me, he was very much a part of this project. 74.136.222.198 07:04, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Above was a vandal and I treated him has such. I sent you an e-mail explaining why I'm leaving the Wiki. Thanks for your help. Æon Insane Ward 07:06, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I commited one act of vandalism yesterday, I will fully admit that, I was wrong, I apologize. I was angry about a response from another user in re a joke I performed on Wikipedia. I should not have responded as I did. Aeon1006 did not treat me as a someone who committed vandalism should be treated, i.e. a warning and discussion when discussion was initiated. Instead he went on a campaign of harassment, reverting my own comments on my own talk page as "vandalism" in order that he might harass and antagonize me. This was uncalled for and inexcusable. 74.136.222.198 07:09, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check his talk page history he was vulgar and comiting acts of incivility on it. ok now I'm leaving thanks Æon Insane Ward 07:11, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOT censored. Vulgarity is allowed. As to incivility, I admit I was guilty as charged, but only because I was pushed to anger by harassment from Aeon. I fully encourage you to browse my talk page history, as it documents a good deal of the harassment I recieved from Aeon. 74.136.222.198 07:14, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the e-mail I posted sorry this wound up in your talk page. Good bye Æon Insane Ward 07:20, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you had addressed the problem with me, instead of violating Wiki policy by blanking your talk page, it wouldn't have "wound up" here. 74.136.222.198 07:22, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BDORT page[edit]

Hi, thanks for the message. I am indeed trying to make a better article. It is such a controversial subject (I never imagined how much!!) that the emotions are running high. I think if you could get the time to read through the discussions, I am only trying to get a balanced article - for example we have a NZ Tribunial report: some direct quotations are being put up whilst others that I put up are immediately deleted. Also other citations that have been agreed on as Neutral, Reliable and Peer-Reviewed by MDs are also automatically deleted. This page needs lots of really unbiased outside help . . .otherwise it will go on for years (sic). Best Regards.--Richardmalter 06:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
