Comic book edits[edit]

We don't include the phrase 'cover date' in articles, putting the month and year IS the cover date, and that's the commonly accepted means of doing so, per WP:COMIC and WP:MOS. Please read up on these to understand why I've reverted your edits. Publication history things like 'showing up one month after that othr thing' is also fairly trivialy information, per WP:TRIVIA, and AVTRIV. I don't want to seem like I'm simply swamping you with policies, but as you start out here, it helps to see and understand the policies involved. Anyways, I recognize you're trying to add good things to articles, and good contributors are always welcomed and encouraged, even if every single edit they make isn't. Hi, Duane, and welcome. I hope you don't mind my asking, but it'd be great if you could double check spellings and punctuation on your edits, and also to think about excess wordiness. Usually the best way to say something is the simplest way. Lastly, if you could check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/editorial guidelines and Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/exemplars, and also the general Wikipedia:Manual of Style, that would help out some of your fellow editors. Well, I just learned something. My old Webster's Unabridged lists the spellings "free lance" and "free-lance", but no "freelance" so for years I've assumed that was an incorrect spelling.

See Merriam-Webster here. I'm glad you've been making a living as a professional writer since 1992. I've been doing it since 1979, so I know it's no mean feat. You probably know that we try to avoid passive-voice construction, such as "Marvel Boy has also been shown to be..." as opposed to "Astonishing Tales #1000 (Jan. 2010) showed Marvel Boy as...."

Also, just want to note that WikiProject Comics format is for long years to be abbreviated in issue-date citations. This has been gone over many times on the Editorial Guidelines and Exemplar pages there, and the nature of this particular Project makes such abbreviations necessary in the constrained space of the usually very numerous issue-date citations per article. Capitalization conventions[edit]

I noticed that you changed the heading "Plot synopsis" to "Plot Synopsis" in Twin Peaks. Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization), I've changed it back. Wikipedia uses sentence case — that is, capitalizing only the first word and proper nouns — for article titles and headings. Hey, we all start without experience. ☺ First, when you find blue links in explanatory text, as with Grey Maiden's request "to provide an edit summary" above, you should click on the link for more information. This is the standard expectation and recommendation for hyperlinking across the web, not just for Wikipedia. (One perhaps can't be blamed for not realizing this when so many badly crafted web pages say contextless things like "see this link for more information", as if "this link" somehow implies what one might find behind it. Sorry — that's a personal pet peeve.)

The "edit summary" link will take you to the page "Help:Edit summary", which describes where to find the input box on any page during editing, and how to use it appropriately.
