Speedy deletion of FrugalReader[edit]

{{hangon}} Frugal Reader has been mentioned in the "main stream" media--most recently by Smart Money magazine: http://www.smartmoney.com/spending/deals/trade-ya-19079/

A tag has been placed on FrugalReader, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g11.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. *Cremepuff222* 14:53, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on FrugalReader, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NASCAR Fan24(talkcontribs) 23:47, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Wikipedia does not recognise Word document uploads for a reason. See: WP:NOT#WEBSPACE. You also may want to read WP:SOAP. Thanks. NASCAR Fan24(talkcontribs) 23:47, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frugal reader - I'll try to be user-friendly[edit]

Hi,

I am a real person, not a robot.

I saw that you are trying to create an article about Frugal reader and that you are frustrated because it is deleted all the time.

I want to try and help you.

I understand that Frugal reader is a website. There are many millions of websites on the Internet, so Wikipedia has a policy that defines which websites should have an article about them. You can read this policy here: Wikipedia:Notability (web). Please take a few minutes to read it. If you think that Frugal reader fits the criteria in that policy then you should explain it right here on your talk page. Just click "edit" and type your answer below my message. If your argument is convincing, then you can create this article.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page: User talk:Amire80.

Thanks and good luck! --Amir E. Aharoni 16:31, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Thank you so much for your response and I apologize for the delay in mine, but I've been working really long hours. I would like the article to be considered for reinstatement. I have read the notability statement and basically the reason why I think the Frugal Reader page deserves to be posted to Wikipedia is because FrugalReader is well established site (born Dec 2004 - 3 year anniversary is around the corner!) yet groundbreaking and modern, providing innovative ways for readers, and now authors, to trade books, and equally important, truly connect with each other on a personal level. There is also the practical value of access to thousands of books and how teachers regularly use the site to expand and augment their bookshelves for better learning opportunities. There are lots and lots of members who have posted about the relationships that members have developed, the support they've received, and the value they place on being able to access books for themselves, their families and even schools and U.S. troops throughout the world. And not to be too petty, but Frugal Reader is the only book trading site that isn't already listed on Wikipedia (see Paperback Swap and Book Mooch pages).
Thank you so much for your consideration!
SECOND EDIT REQUESTING REVIEW:
My above post was made well over a week ago with no response at all. I followed the instructions you posted above regarding responding/editing this page. I also went to your profile and there's no way for me to start a new topic on your talk page, so again I've hit a wall with Wikipedia and there is no user-friendly way to get past this point. I'm trying one more time to edit this page in the hopes that you will see it and respond. Please read my note above and let me know what the status is of my posting. Thanks!
Hi,
I'm sorry that it took me so long to reply.
I understand that the concept of your website may be innovative, but unfortunately that is not enough to make it notable. The amous of registered users also does not establish notability by itself.
The best way to establish notability is to provide external sources that discuss the website. You mentioned BookMooch and PaperBackSwap, so i looked at those two articles. were apparently covered by established sources such as PC Magazine and New York Times. If you can show that Frugal Reader was discussed external sources - even if they are not as big and famous as the New York Times, it will be considered notable. --Amir E.
