Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Hi! Welcome to the Wiki. I hope you have fun here. IMO the problem with the links at bel canto was that they were in the wrong place. Blogs are not generally accepted as reputable references.
I would also question the links' usefulness in general. The blog entries appeared to be heavily POV and made a number of claims that were questionable at best and downright misleading at worst. "BEL CANTO– It’s all about the storytelling". Really? I remain to be convinced. Surely you could say the same for baroque recitative. The blog also gives no credence to the viewpoint that the fall of the castrati was due to the new aesthetics of the Romantic era: aesthetics that could not stomach declarations of amatory intent from eunuchs who couldn't finish the job off properly, so to speak. No mentions is made of Gluck's reforms; nor is it stated that for Bellini et al virtuosity was a legitimate means of expression - is that really so far away from Senesino or Farinelli? Under these circumstances it is probably best that the links stay deleted. Cheers, Moreschi 20:03, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if I offended you, DismasMama, and I probably should not have given you the spam warning, but I do feel that the external links you added were inappropriate, not for being corporate, but for being to blog entries, and in the case of the links on Bel canto, being misrepresented as sources for the article. Wikipedia is NOT a link directory, and I feel strongly about that. I'm certainly not on a rampage, I just happened to come across some inappropriate links close to each other. I think only the very best links should be included in our articles, lest they become overrun. I would encourage you to improve the content of the pages you're not happy with, rather than adding external links. Mak (talk) 21:12, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Diocesan Infobox[edit]

To the Members of the WikiProject Catholicism

I have proposed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Catholicism an infobox for Catholic Dioceses. I have not gotten any feedback on this proposal, so I’m culling feedback, advice, corrections, etc. for this. If you have the time, would you check out User:SkierRMH/Diocese_Infobox and give me some feedback! Thanks much!!
