For starters, I would move this stuff "She has had academic work published in the Journal of Zoology and Molecular Approaches in Natural Resource Conservation and Management. In 2009 she received an American Society of Mammalogists Undergraduate Award.[6]" down after the activism, or maybe delete them entirely. That stuff really isn't notable, and it's distracting having it above the meat of what makes her more notable. I would probably delete selected publications as well. And include about a sentence worth more information on boobquake. Consider Rebecca Watson's page as a model. --Grouse (talk) 21:39, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

I'd really rather not remove content, especially content that is referenced, but I'm all for adding it. Yeah, we can talk a bit more about Boobquake but we should be careful that it doesn't become the focus of the article. I think the part that needs to be expanded is about her atheism/skeptic speaking; do you know of anything I could use as a source there to beef up that part? —Disavian (talk/contribs) 21:51, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
No. Sorry. Ask Jen. --Grouse (talk) 21:53, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
And having looked at it, I don't really like Rebecca Watson's article - it looks too choppy and there isn't enough breadth. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 21:54, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Homeland Open Security Technology

Hello Disavian, I just thought I'd let you know that I saw your article Homeland Open Security Technology in the New Articles list-- You did an excellent job with including references and citations. However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: some of the article's Wikilinks are broken. Kind regards and happy editing! Amy Z (talk) 16:52, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm under the impression that articles about the Open Information Security Foundation and the OpenSSL Software Foundation do not exist, and I'm uncertain if they're notable enough to have an article. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 17:15, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Research project feedback suggestion

Thank you for your feedback. We do try to make sure that the links are actually broken rather than just uncreated pages, but I guess I must have missed something in your case. Sorry. Also, we are in the process of considering user experience, and we are starting to find some interesting results from that. Do you have any thoughts on what kinds of feedback are applicable most often to articles created by experienced users? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amyxz (talkcontribs) 18:18, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

SRI Intl fix - tnx!

Thanks for moving the ESP material away from the SRI page. That text was originally submitted several years ago and was apparently intended as NPOV material for the Remote viewing page. After a lot of WP arguing, someone merged it into the SRI page, which was completely inappropriate. Tnx again! jxm (talk) 00:58, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

I understand how those kind of things happen around here- it just takes someone non-involved to come along and rewrite something to fix some of those long-standing issues. I'm actually planning on working on that article more, but I haven't had much time to devote to Wikipedia the last couple weeks :) —Disavian (talk/contribs) 22:42, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Stanford University WikiProject

Hi Disavian, Thanks for helping out so far with the Stanford WikiProject. I noticed that you were part of GT's WP, and I was wondering what tips you had for Stanford's WikiProject, given that it's such a small fledgling project. I'm at the school now so I may have access to resources that others may not have. Any input you have would be great. Thanks! ralphamale (talk) 21:11, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Universities generally have archives of the school's paper (in Stanford's case, The Stanford Daily). Those serve as a very valuable historical resource, and won't be as easy to access once you've graduated (and moved to Texas, in my case). If you can focus on improving the main article(s) (obviously Stanford University) to Good Article (and later, Featured Article) status, other improvements in related articles will become obvious over time. For example, as I've improved History of Georgia Tech I've discovered names of notable faculty/alumni, who I've then written articles about. And while SRI International may have split from Stanford, they're still a part of the school's history/legacy, especially with the many notable pre-split topics such as ARPANET and The Mother of All Demos, so they're a good source of content for the history section. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 21:22, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Interview

Hi , I am a Wikipedian and researcher from Carnegie Mellon University, working with Professors Robert E. Kraut and Aniket Kittur. We’ve published many scholarly papers on Wikipedia and are partnering with the Wikimedia Foundation on several new projects.

I have been analyzing collaboration in Wikipedia, especially Collaborations of the Week/Month. My analysis of seven years of archival Wikipedia data shows that Collaborations of the Week/Month substantially increase the amount and nature of project members’ contributions, with long lasting effects. We would like to talk to Wikipedians to better understand the processes that that produce this behavior change.

We’ve identified you as a particularly good candidate to speak with because of your involvement with the WikiProject Universities' Collaborations, which is one of those we’ve been investigating. It would really help us if you would be willing to have a short talk with us, less than 30 minutes of your time. We can talk via skype or instant messenger or other means if you’d prefer. Do you have time at any point during this week to chat? If so, please send an email to [email protected] or drop a line on my talk page.

Thanks!

Hemphill Ave neighborhood (now Tech West Campus)

No worries I had to write that page in Tech history, so that I could create the article about the defunct Hemphill Avenue neighborhood - it's kind of a mission of mine to document all the forgotten places in Atlanta Keizers (talk) 01:16, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

It's not orphaned, it's being replaced by an svg version. Dumb bot :p Disavian (talk) 18:23, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

The article Blueprint (yearbook) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG without multiple independent sources on page or on web.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TM 21:35, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

FAC Glen P. Robinson

Commiseration over the FAC of Glen P. Robinson being archived without substantial additional comment. While disappointing, this occasionally occurs. Please nudge my talk page if it returns to FAC so I may again support it over the issues I can support it on. Fifelfoo (talk) 03:24, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

I have to say that's surprising- each of the articles I'd previously nominated for FAC either went down in flames or succeeded after a hard-fought battle. I didn't even realize that being archived was an option in that process. I do want to thank you for your review, as the article was improved thanks to you :) Disavian (talk) 03:29, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

dont like the new style refs?

Thanks for working on Proactive Discovery of Insider Threats Using Graph Analysis and Learning. I am curious as to why you like old-style refs better than new style refs? Decora (talk) 23:00, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

I just used the style that I'm used to Wikipedia holding up as the one way to cite an article. /shrug. Yeah, I added about all that I could to that article. :) Disavian (talk) 00:46, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
