CSR / Extractive project

Hello

I'm trying to get people who are willing to help me out with a pet project I've begun but realised that it will be extremely hard for me to even make a small dent in. First of all, I got your name from the list of active members on the wikiproject for mining articles. Please disregard this, if you're not interested.

So, here's what I'm trying to do and what you could do to help me. I noticed that there were very few articles that list mines. I've tried (to the best of my abilities) to create a sub-page that lists all of the probable articles for lists of mines that I could think of, you can review this here.

Basically, I need help. Suggestions on different lists to add, I need lists created, if the lede I've been using should be changed, I'd like community consensus on the standard layout (I've been going with listing articles like List of gold mines by country and List of mines in the United States by output. If someone would like to make templates for these articles.

Please, don't feel obligated. I came to you, and others like you because of your implied interest in mining articles. List articles are not exactly in everyone's taste. If you are completely uninterested, but think you might know someone who might be, please let them know about it. I could use all the help I can get.

useful task: WikiProject templates on mine categories/articles

Before bed last night, after my last post to you on Talk:MPmd, I noticed the mine categories in Central America didn't have Wikiproject templates; I did most of the subcats in Central America and some of the Caribbean ones, but there are more; some may have the country templates, but not the mining templates, and vice-versa. As for Africa and South America, it's probable they're missing too. Same goes for mine articles; if there are social/environmental or archaeological material in the articles, WP Environment and/or WP Archaeology should be added too....most I've seen in Central America were just stubs, other than Marlin Mine; I didn't look at the Mexican articles, just the categories.Skookum1 (talk) 02:34, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Apparently the model of collaboratively creating articles is not longer the fashion at Wikipedia, I feel I am being asked to perfect the article before the editors will allow it to go live. If anyone reads this and thinks my current draft is better than nothing as a link to the 14 existing wikipedia articles that raise this topic, please speak up. Hi, User:DiligentDavidG -- I did some reorganizing of the article before accepting it -- at least now it makes sense to me ;-). We need to add categories and wikilinks to get it better integrated into WP. I also think that we could link from some of the organizations like the major oil companies to this article.
