Ashley Tisdale

Hi Decodet!, help me with Ashley Tisdale's article, a user called Olivewildes began to editing the article, the bad thing is that this user in several opportunities edtited the article with accounts before blockeds (FortyFootEcho, RaiseYourVice) you can to verify checking the hitory of editions. I know he is hater of Ashley, always he copies things for Brenda Song's article and delete for Ashley, the bad thing of everything is that the user Gimmetrow support him. Sorry for my horrible english, i hope you can help me. Thanks Juanacho (talk) 17:43, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Guilty Pleasure

I think it's right on the cusp of having an article. If the release date were firm, it'd be a no-brainer to create the article.

Personally, I'd wait about 24 hours to make sure that the Guilty Pleasure add to Tisdale's article sticks. (I think it will, based on the Cosmo article. Also, Cosmo should be cited directly for that, not the copyvio scans of the magazines. I've changed the ref in the Tisdale article accordingly, if you want to copy that for the album article.) Once that shows that editors are happy with the album title, then the album's article can be created.

Also, when it's time to create, it will need to be Guilty Pleasure (album); Guilty Pleasure will need to be a disambiguation page. —C.Fred (talk) 16:48, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

If you create it tomorrow, I'll take it straight to AFD, so please don't create it. When it has a confirmed tracklist, a confirmed release date, and an official announcement from the label, please go ahead. Please don't create it before then.—Kww(talk) 16:55, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Dead links in references

FYI, when the link to a reference goes dead, don't delete the whole reference. If possible, find a replacement link. Otherwise, leave the reference in place, but flag the link as dead with the {{dead link}} template. —C.Fred (talk) 18:22, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Guilty Pleasure

I would still say "no". One major problem is that you have committed original research: showing up on an ASCAP or BMI listing doesn't mean that a song is going to appear on any particular project. It's a good guess that they'll be on the next album, and probably right, but it isn't confirmation. It's still all small enough that it fits nicely on the Ashley Tisdale page. C.Fred's comment at the AFD sums it up nicely: once there is a confirmed release date and a full track listing, then it makes sense to spin it off to its own article. You aren't there yet.—Kww(talk) 14:07, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Brazilian Albums Chart

I won't revert you, but if that position gets filled out again I'll remove the whole section again. I tried leaving those notes in articles where people were able to provide good sourcing for the certification or the sales, and guess what? They were ignored, and people kept filling in positions from the Brazil Hot 100. The only way I've found that works is to delete the whole section.

It would be a lot easier if there was an official Brazilian chart. I really don't understand why so few of the South American countries have official album and single charts.—Kww(talk) 23:24, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Music Week

Talk to User:Realist2. He's British, so he will be better able to help. Does the FL review have to be unanimous, or is there a way to get others to decide that Goodraise is being unrealistic and get FL status anyway?—Kww(talk) 14:32, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for intruding. I hope the two of you don't mind that I invade your talk page and discussion thread, respectively. It is indeed possible for a nomination to be promoted despite opposition. Just last week, this one was promoted even though I opposed. (See also Dabomb87's closing comment here.) If I may suggest, you could specifically ask the reviewers who already supported your nomination to reevalutate their position in light of mine. If they reaffirm their support, that would greatly increase the chances of a promotion. (Though of course, it could also backfire.) Regards, Goodraise 06:03, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Ashley Tisdale

I'm so sorry I haven't replied! I'm about to go through the article myself; I'll leae comments on the talk page and let you know here when I'm done. I was going to suggest the WP:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors, but it looks like it is severely backlogged over there. Liquidluck (talk) 02:15, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

All done. It was really fast; Nice work! Quick comments: Add the premiere and release dates for each film and album. Give each major character she's played a quick descriptive sentence. I recommend adding more reception information. For example, you might cite Metacritic scores for her albums and add comments from notable critics about her film/tv performances. Definitely add commercial outcomes, if possible- how many copies the albums sold, how popular HSM or Suite Life were. See the FA Emma Watson as an example. Good luck with FA! Lady Gaga: The Fame Moster

Hi, I also think that The Fame Monster didn´t chart like a new album in Australia, Ireland and Uk since it charted like a re-release and not like a new release. I think The Fame and The Fame Monster pages needs to be changed to make clear this. My first language is not english and I don´t think I will be able to do it. Will be nice if you can do it. Thanks --Albes29 (talk) 16:41, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Ok thanks. For the moment only in US, Canada, Netherlands and Japan The Fame Monster is leke a new album. We should start a new discussion about it.--Albes29 (talk) 17:04, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Decodet, first of all, well done on all the work you have contributed to FL-class discographies. Its very impressive (and i aspire to be like that someday!). I come bearing a question, looking through the FL nom for the above article, I noticed you've added references to ChartsPlus (or at least it looks like it was you!) for the chart positions not compiled by the OCC. This is an example:

"The Official UK Singles Chart for the week ending October 27, 2007". ChartsPlus (Milton Keynes: IQ Ware Ltd) (322): 3.

Just wondering, I'm trying to get a similar reference myself, can you help me clearing up what are the numbers at the end? I'm working on an FL myself and this is pretty much the only record archive which anyone will consider reliable. Thanks for any help you can give me! --SteelersFanUK06 HereWeGo2010! 18:26, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

My God you're a genius. Obviously you can tell the page number, as the chart positions will be the same for each page on the .pdf. Never realised this! Thank you so very much. We might even get another FLC out of this, I'll let you know! Thanks again! --SteelersFanUK06 HereWeGo2010! 18:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Tganks very much for your help, the article in question is the Interpol discography, just waiting on word back from the reviewers now. Thanks again. --SteelersFanUK06 HereWeGo2010! 23:23, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Brazilan charts

I find the references on I Want to Know What Love Is suspicious. Do they really print the charts so small that both the Hot 100 Airplay and Hot Pop charts fit on the same page, in this case page 81?—Kww(talk) 01:56, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Billboard Brasil

So I know you said you'd be willing to help people verify postions but would you be willing to fill out the magazine verification when needed as Kww linked to on the discussion page? Not for all of them, perhaps just the number 1's on the chart? Jayy008 (talk) 23:43, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

no, I wandered the same thing but it's now allowed. I mean Kww showed on the discussion a form for magazine verification rather than online. I think basically you fill in date, amongst many other things using this. Since you have access to the Brazilian magazine. I don't think you'll need to buy it to fill in these things? However, that page looks very confusing to me, maybe you understand it better. Jayy008 (talk) 00:21, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Mariah Carey I Want to Know What Love Is & Pop chart please. And Beyonce's "Halo" is that's ok. If not then the first one will be good. Thanks for your help! Jamie Jayy008 (talk) 01:07, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes please, I think it's allowed because there isn't a main chart like the "billboard hot 100"? It's just airplay to begin with. I will leave it down to you though it you think it's appropriate. Jayy008 (talk) 11:41, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Leave it then, I think. The main chart I'm glad that's there. Thanks for all your help. Jayy008 (talk) 16:11, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Music Week: Ashley Tisdale/Paramore

I'm sorry but Music Week doesn't give me positions 101-200 which is where I know a couple of her solo songs have charted. (It's not a very good site to be honest).
However I can give you all the positions 1-75 if you like? However, they can all be found at [www.chartstats.com ChartStatsUK] and it doesn't require subscription that site also gives you positions 76-100. Kinda wish I never bothered now, all the information on the site I can get from anywhere except tour sales. Hope this helps! Just give me another message if you want me to paste their positions 1-75 for you. Jayy008 (talk) 22:28, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

That's ok, sorry I couldn't be of help. Jayy008 (talk) 17:18, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

"Alice" chart position

Hey Decodet, I removed your Billboard.biz citation from the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart position for Lavigne's song "Alice." The link didn't work. I tried accessing Billboard.biz and I needed to register, which wouldn't suffice as a reasonable reference. I tried Googling for a reliable and non-forum non-blog site with the same information and couldn't find anything (I did find forums and blogs, though). So for now, the item is tagged {{citation needed}}, but if you can find another reference for this information, that would be great. –Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 06:47, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Source: "Rude Boy" at 23 in US?

Hi, I just reverted your recent edit to Rihanna discography, where you changed the peak position in the U.S. for "Rude Boy" from 64 to 23. What's your source for this? The two sources currently referenced in the article say nothing and 64, respectively. Please provide a source when (re-)making a change like this and, in future, please also include an edit summary. Lady Gaga Discography

Sweden has a much larger market (with its Platinum-award at 40,000) then New Zealand and Ireland (platinum-award at 15,000 for both). I really think you should have removed one of the latter. Charting

Your citation claims the single charted before the either the single or the album was released.—Kww(talk) 01:42, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Just to be clear, I'm convinced that you made a mistake in the citation. I don't think of you as an editor that intentionally makes false edits. If you look at the November issue of the magazine again, and it really says that Te Amo charted (even though the November issue was published Oct 10 and the album was released Nov 20), I'll be very surprised. I bet you meant to cite a later issue.—Kww(talk) 02:43, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
If you've verified it, go ahead and put it back. —Kww(talk) 06:09, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Unsourced peaks on Rihanna discography

Hi, decodet. Was this edit summary directed at me? I reverted those peaks 10 times before now, so I'm guessing you were aiming your comments my way.

As it happens, I did check Billboard, each and every one of the 10 times I reverted. Each and every time I checked, the songs were unlisted at the cited refs. I did not find the song at Billboard's site when I searched (even now, searching for "Only Girl (In The World)" copied from the BB ref you provided, and pasted into the search bar, it doesn't come up), and so for me, the case was pretty clearly unsourced content, indifferentiable from malicious vandalism.

The fact that 10 other edits by 9 editors added (what looks like) the same info suggested that the numbers were probably accurate, and not really vandalism. However, none of those 9 editors managed to provide a source, and only one editor even provided an edit summary. That edit summary said, "Look at the references in the song's page", which I did, finding that that article used the same non-supportive references as Rihanna discography.

I feel like a damned fool reverting the same change over and over again, but it's a FL and in any case deserves to have reference citations supporting its claims. I wonder what was so hard about all the other editors adding actual refs for their claims, since they appear to have "known" about these peaks for the last five days. I'm glad you came in and added the refs (and provided an edit summary). You set a good example. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 20:50, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Didn't seem too angry to me, but I think we agree it's frustrating doing all this work when it seems we're (all) working against each other at least as much as with each other. Also agreed that the main thing is the article's now reffed. Thanks again and cheers, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 09:53, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Styling mods for Ashley Tisdale discography

Hi, Decodet. I think Ashley Tisdale discography looks really nice. Good work! One thing (the only thing I found) that might improve the look is changing the column widths for the titles in the albums tables. In keeping with the principle of "Similar columns between sections and tables should ideally be kept at a consistent width" over at DISCOGSTYLE, and since there appears to be no serious space problem, you could make all the tables use the same style="width:16em;" suggestion. They're probably different now because you copied the examples from WP:DISCOGSTYLE, which are presumed to come from two different articles. I think they make good starting points (especially since albums tables and singles tables can be so different), but we should feel free to be flexible and adapt the tables to the articles where it helps. Still, it's your decision; see what you think. And keep up the good work! — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 06:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Accolades

I recently re-reverted the edit on the Hellcats page that made Accolades into a table. I was told by ChaosMaster that it's a rule, that's why I supported your reversion. Do you have any idea where these rules are? Jayy008 (talk) 22:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. PS. ChaosMaster has received a permanent block, so that's not an option lol. There's a discussion on WikipediaProjectTV so I guess I'll wait for the outcome of that :). Jayy008 (talk) 22:56, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
A user just posted this in reply to me: "Seems to be some hints at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (embedded lists): Most Wikipedia articles should consist of prose, and not just a list of links. Prose allows the presentation of detail and clarification of context, while a list of links does not. Prose flows, like one person speaking to another, and is best suited to articles, because their purpose is to explain. Therefore, lists of links, which are most useful for browsing subject areas, should usually have their own entries: see Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists for detail. In an article, significant items should be mentioned naturally within the text rather than merely listed. I guess that clears it up. Jayy008 (talk) 23:35, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Nikita season 1

"I think it's time for a season 1 article"... Are you planning to make it notable enough to be kept? Jayy008 (talk) 14:09, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

I was hoping to create an "Development" section to put the most notable information about the production of the first season, as well the casting of recurring roles and stuff, as well a section about accolades. I actually created it because the main article was getting messy with the addition of the plot and media information. Decodet (talk) 16:05, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited B.o.B discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Out of My Mind (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Cockiness

If a song is released digitally its a single, particularly as its received notable coverage from Rap-Up calling it a single. There's no such requirement that song's have to be sent to radio to be a single. Particularly ones that are so explicit! — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 23:45, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

the fact that the media called it a single and it recieved an independent release from the album is enough to be called a single. There are no set rules for how long something has to be out for it be a single etc. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 00:01, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

November 2012

Please refrain from making this change to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The guideline for the singles template is clearly cited in the article, bookending the template in the infobox reading "per Template:Infobox album#Template:Singles, do not add songs from re-releases". Any further edits against this guideline will be considered disruptive. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Ashley Tisdale FAC

Hi, it appears that the FAC is stalling. I would recommend withdrawing the nomination because unless you can get at least four supports, the nomination will fail. At the moment the prose probably still requires more work -- I suggest you ask editors such as Demiurge1000, Quaddell, Nikkimaria or anybody else who is acquainted with bibliographic articles to give it a look. --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 04:31, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I guess you're right, I'll get in contact with them so I can get some help. It's kinda frustrating because I've been working hard on it for years and it still isn't good enough - there's always some issue. How do I withdraw a FAC nomination? Decodet (talk) 17:53, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
You just need to add a "Withdraw" note and your signature at the bottom of the FAC and one of the three delegates will take care of the rest. I can understand how frustrating it is to have your nominations constantly fail (see McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II). Some of the best ways to get your editing prowess up may be to look at other FACs, request advice or copy-edits from experienced editors, look at their writing style, and just participate in reviews. In no time you will be able to spot mistakes in articles and deal with them quickly and easily. Cheers --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 04:44, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi ... This is what happens to a newbie as a result of the non-hyperlinked "Put new text under old text." thing. Got stuck. Had to talk. Here I Am. I'm not suggesting REMOVING the certs column but just adding one for sales - the sales figures are just as easy to find and to reference and while most ARE just available from the US - that is the country that buys music the most - So we're not making it worse if we did add them - just a point to consider. SayaamRulz (talk) 11:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

If the certifications are still there, I'm OK with the sales being added if properly sourced. I said what I said because when you added the sales to the table, you removed the certifications column - and I thought that was what you wanted. Decodet (talk) 14:17, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Better source request for some of your uploads

Thanks for your uploads to Wikipedia. There is an issue with some of them, specifically:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the images because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the images, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image files themselves. Please update the image descriptions with URLs that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:10, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Tisdale FA future

Hi! It was fun working with you on the Ashley Tisdale FAC recently, sadly we did not prevail.

I never abandon an article, and long term I am sure the FA potential is there. I see you are adding content again, and I encourage you to do so.

After adding lots (or any!) it's best not to nominate the article for FAC again, without having a clear strategy for fixing prose problems and any other problems that may have arisen.

I am not a prose expert, I'm just a prose artilleryman. Getting prose to the right place, can take months.

But it's always possible. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:05, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

I appreciate everything! I thought the article was getting smaller and smaller instead of getting bigger. I assumed there were a lot of content missing and I decided to rework some sections, rewrite some sentences and add some content. I'm getting satisfied with the result - however, I'm aware there's still prose problems in the article. After all, I'm the one who edits it the most and English isn't my main language. That's why I plan on contacting more copy-editors soon, after I realize there's nothing else to add in the article. I want everything to be perfect before I nominate it for FAC again. I really don't plan on have another failed nomination.
Just wondering, do you know editors who are experts in copy-editing featured articles that could give me a hand in the prose? Having your support means a lot! Decodet (talk) 23:24, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello

While I do agree that a discography should not list every single certification an album has received, because that's what the album page is for, I do think you shouldn't use WP:DISCOGSTYLE as an argument since it is inactive. (I really think discussion on it should be revived though). Raykyogrou0 (Talk) 11:49, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

I didn't notice that it was inactive. But still, a lot of users were saying the same thing over and over and that user opted to keep ignoring everyone and putting back those certifications. Anyway, I really think discussion should be revived too. As a constant editor on discography articles, I'm aware how important that guideline is (or used to be). But thanks. Decodet (talk) 15:24, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
