Chuka Ichiban - Orphaned Images

[edit]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:CoiledDragonPot.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CoiledDragonPot.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gin Tama

[edit]

I had to mass revert the name order change. VIZ Media purposefully uses Japanese order with the English ones, AS Gin Tama is a parody of Meiji-era Japan, which falls under SNGN, because people were not born during the year of Meiji yet. WhisperToMe 21:21, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kaze no Stigma 橘 霧香

[edit]

Hey mate, I realize that that is the order given on the official page. However, from my extremely limited understanding of kanji, 霧香 means Tachibana, which is the last name of said character. Since all other names, both on the official site and on the wiki article, as well as the romaji readings are written in last name first order, I believe it should be changed to 霧香 橘. Let me know what you think (or if I have made a mistake in looking it up, since I am not proficient with kanji). --Darkbane 22:14, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually 橘 means Tachibana. The 霧 means Kiri and the 香 is ka. So 橘 霧香 is the correct order in rōmaji since it would be Tachibana Kirika (last name, first name). DarkAngel007 22:23, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers for clearing that up. My search was wrong, too, I've just found the right one -_- --Darkbane 22:27, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hitman Reborn Volume 05.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hitman Reborn Volume 05.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Kaze no Stigma (Spirits)

[edit]

Hey. So, I don't know about singular/plural in Japanese, but it's obvious that Kazuma et al. are drawing upon more than one wind/fire spirit when casting their spells. How can we best reflect this in the terminology section? --Darkbane talk 12:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

<Retracted> Actually I think that regular jutsu users are only able to draw upon one spirit, while contractors (or advanced jutsu users) can draw upon many spirits, but I'm not certain about that <Retracted>. All I know is that a Honō/Kaze no Seirei is only one flame/wind spirit. DarkAngel007 19:56, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's pretty random. I haven't seen any basis for this assumption in the anime. How about the novel? --Darkbane talk 20:05, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, I retract what I wrote before; just looked back on a few episodes. Anyways, the plural form for Honō no Seirei would most likely be Honō no Seirei-tachi. As for the article: In the anime, the first Kannagi head made a contract with the Honō no Seirei-Ou, which, according to Ren, allowed his descendants to use a minute power of the flame spirits around them (ep 2). If they're a contractor, they can call upon the power of the Seirei-Ou, in order to use the full power of all the spirits in the atmosphere. (Oh yeah, you could've responded in my talk section, it just wouldn't have stayed there >.< ). DarkAngel007 21:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather preserve it here and then move it to my archives than dig through your talk page's history :P The Seirei-Ou is different though, since it's the king. It would make sense for there to be only one king ^_^. Anyway, I think this part might be getting too specific for the terminology section anyways. I'll do some changes, take a look at them later. --Darkbane talk 22:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you deleted the section consisting of Subaru Imai and Shuuichi Sakurano? I'm wondering where had it gone to. I'm just asking.

Samantha Lim88 10:02, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

No, I did not delete Subaru Imai and Shuuichi Sakurano. I did delete their previous section, but I moved the caharacters to the 'other students' section, since they are still students of the Academy. DarkAngel007 18:11, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you for changing that. I didn't notice that.

Samantha Lim88 01:37, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Just because something has hiragana written next to it on an official site doesn't mean it's not a long O sound. It makes no difference whether it's written 鼈甲 or べっこう — the romanization is still the same. TangentCube, Dialogues 02:31, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just because it has a long O sound, does not mean that it needs a macron. Even in the ja wiki of the series, his name does not have a macron, but rather, it is expressed as ベッコウ, which is "Bekkou" (while some names are represented with a macron; like with Akatsuki Yūri, which is expressed as (アカツキ ユーリ)). If it was ベッコー, then it can be romanized as "Bekkō", but it's not (in both cases). DarkAngel007 04:01, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Plenty of words here on en: are romanized with macrons even when the Japanese doesn't use the chōon, like yūutsu (en, ja) and tōsen (en, ja); in fact, our entry on the chōon states that long sounds in hiragana, which are given macrons under our romanization system, do not usually use the mark, but another vowel kana. Now, if that's wrong, go ahead and fix it, but this is the rule I've been operating under. TangentCube, Dialogues 04:41, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll change it back to "Bekkō". I'm not really one to debate too much. >.< DarkAngel007 05:05, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning your edits on the Shijō Saikyō no Deshi Kenichi article

[edit]

I know your edits to the article are in good faith, but honestly, it is severely cluttering the page. Just because I said before that they don't all have to be on the right, doesn't mean that they should all alternate between right and left. And the use of excessive spaces is a bit improper, often hurting the page rather than helping it. I've reverted and edited the article so it looks decent and I very much appreciate you uploading the images, but you should also add a fair use rationale for your images before they get deleted by an administrator. If you are new, I suggest you read these: Wikipedia:Images, Wikipedia:Non-free content, Wikipedia:Picture tutorial, and especially Wikipedia:Manual of Style. And before you contribute a major edit for the format of the Shijō Saikyō no Deshi Kenichi article, please discuss on the Talk:Shijō Saikyō no Deshi Kenichi or on my talk page. Although, you are free to contribute information and more images (just not too much, since Wikipedia is not an image gallery) on the article, just as long as you preview your edit before contributing it. Thank you. And if you wish to add space for the image, do not add several space, but rather use this template: {{-}}. DarkAngel007 06:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the message

I appreciate the message and yes I do feel that the Wiki for Kenichi was lacking in the picture gallery, hence my contributions, but I believe some of your aligning with the pictures and the paragraphs are a bit dirty....If you can at least clean it up a bit, I would appreciate it as would other readers, but it seems like your sacrificing neatness. I also understand your need to remove some of the stuff I have contributed due to spoilers which is totally understandable but if you could at least stay consistent with your spoilers for each character then it would also be much appreciated. The entire Wiki just seems jumbled with the way you have formatted some of the pictures. Please take into consideration that not everyone reads at full screen. Anyways, yea, if you need pictures or something, i can definitely provide some for the Wiki. I'm only here to help. Darkdrummer12

Well, actually the format I use is one that is used in several good anime articles and I haven't really had a complaint yet about how I place the images, but until we can reach an agreement on the format, I think we should edit it here: in my sandbox, in order not to mess up the history page of the article and to prevent constant changing. You can freely edit the format of the images there. Or I can reformat the article's images then place a link on the article's talk page to get some opinions on the matter. I've also checked the images on both my laptop and computer and they seem to same to me, but what you said about the arrangement is all the more reason why we should edit on a neutral page, so it doesn't mess up the original article. DarkAngel007 06:41, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I also don't understand your arranging for Moryu, Sogetsu, and Renka. You do realize that the picture is going through the horizontal bar right? Darkdrummer12
No problem
Allright, sounds reasonable enough. I guess I'm more used to the Bleach Wiki format which is also a really good anime article on wikipedia. Darkdrummer12
Besides the "others" (Moryu, Sogetsu, and Renka images) characters' section, is there any problem with the Ragnarok and Main characters' sections, which I consider having good formats, since it would be much easier if we just need to work on one section rather than the entire section. DarkAngel007 06:47, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm...
I honestly think most of it is fine in it's entirety. I have a little nitpicks here and there which I'd be happy to run by you.
1. The whole berserker picture to the left just seems random and dirty to the entire format it is already in. I know you don't believe that all the pictures should be on the right or a "right-left-right" format, but one random picture to the left seems unorganized.
2. I'm thinking of adding a screenshot of the whole shirhama fmaily when I find one that's good instead of listing each one with a picture. I felt each Ragnarok member needed their own picture at least since each member is vital to the story.
3. You mentioned great anime articles. I'm curious as to if they have their own wiki article for each character like ones I have seen before. If it is possible to Wiki the "major" characters of the story, then it would clean up the plethora of pictures in the page and provide, more story and background to each character as it seems fit. Darkdrummer12
Well, I never said I don't believe in the whole "don't put all of them on the right" thing, I just don't think they should all be on the right if they break the line of the next section (List of attacks). Either way, I have done a few edits on the Bleach wiki, and if your satisfied with this: click here ^_^ - spaced them with the space template, then I think we can agree on this. If you don't like it, you can tell me what's wrong with it and I'll try to fix it. Or I can just move that one picture of Berserker to the left, since there is space on the Ragnarok's section, if that was your only major problem.
And about the whole individual character article, I don't think that's possible for this article since they barely have any character or story information (without going into details that would peak on copyright infringement; one of WP rules). By the way, the info you posted before that I shortened, I only shortened it because it was basically a summary of eps 38+39 (if that was you that posted that about Kisara). There's no need to add an entire summary of it on the character if it can be said on the episode's article. DarkAngel007 07:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like it...
Regardless of the giant spaces...it still seems way neater than what we had before. I can live with this. As for the whole Kisara summary; I also felt the same that I was basically re-telling the entire 2 episodes but felt that we needed to at least say she left Ragnarok since you have gone on to mention that on Hermit's description. I felt that those two episodes did indeed provide an enormous amount of background story towards Kisara. I'll try and reword and rephrase that entire description that i kept stuffing in and slim it down to maybe about 2 sentences that sum it up pretty nicely and run it by you. Darkdrummer12

Kisara info

[edit]

How bout this:
"When Kisara later helps a stray kitten, she is spotted by Miu and Kenichi, who tries to help Kisara find a new home for the stray. Although, since she was being spied on by Freya's Valkyries, she becomes a target of the Valkyries due to the suspicions of being a spy for the Shinpaku Alliance. When they finally attack her, she is not able to fight with her full strength due to her attempts in trying to protect the kitten. However, she is aided by both Miu and Kenichi, and is able to pull off a win. After the fight with the Valkyries, she decides to leave Ragnarok."

Oh. And thanks for the heads up, but you shouldn't mention that here since that is considered illegal for copyright infringement (either way, I watch the RAW ^_^). DarkAngel007 07:29, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reworded it a little bit..other wise..it's perfect.
"When Kisara, later, helps a stray kitten, she is unfortunately spotted by Miu and Kenichi who eventually try to help Kisara find a new home for the stray. Coincidentally, she becomes a target of the Valkyries, Freya's female subordinates, due to the suspicions of being a spy for the Shinpaku Alliance. When they finally attack her, she is unable to fight with her full strength due to her attempts in trying to protect the kitten. However, she is aided by both Miu, Kenichi, and strangely Shigure, and is able to pull off a win. After the fight with the Valkyries, she decides to officially resign herself from Ragnarok." Darkdrummer12
OK. I'll put that in the article right now. I removed the word coincidentally though, since it wasn't really coincidental cuz they were spying on her. Anyways, that'll be my final edit for tonight. It's been a pleasure, thanks for your cooperation >.<. DarkAngel007 07:45, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Hope I can be a helpful bother in the future ^-^ Darkdrummer12

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Images

[edit]

Hello! I've recently been trying to get new, better images of some of the Reborn! characters. Last night, I changed the pictures of Yamamoto Takeshi, Gokudera Hayato, and Hibari Koyoya. I was planning on changing many more of the images, but when I looked at the Reborn! page today, all of my images had been erased, replaced with the quality ones (quality, here, being a sarcastic term meaning 'really bad'). I decided to see who had edited them, and, of course, found you.

I'm a member of the Livjournal community dedicated to Reborn! (http://community.livejournal.com/hitman_reborn/), and have already spoken with them about the Reborn! page. The members that responded all agreed with me that there are some errors on the Reborn! page that we would like to see changed. However, when we change them, they're changed back to what they were not a day later. I'm assuming that is your doing?

I don't really know how to word this correctly, but I'll try. It would be nice if you stopped changing everything you don't like/agree with if it's either offical or better that what you had.

I'd like to talk about this issue with you over e-mail, if that's okay. My e-mail is [email protected]. Thank you so much!

Oh, and I'm very sorry if I wasn't supposed to put a comment here? Uhm, I'm not too familiarized with how Wikipedia works besides editing pages... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mxcreepy (talkcontribs) 21:25, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reborn! Images

Since people seem to be very adamant on adding pictures of the manga, then please use colored picture from the manga since I'm positive they exist. Since if a colored alternative is available, WP prefers it over a black and white one. Also, mark the image with a proper fair use rationale or else Wikipedia admins will put delete tags on them. If you can't get the hang on how to, then you can list the links or post the images on my talk page and I will do so for you. Also, since someone is creating separate character articles, do not post two images for the character on "List of Reborn! characters" if they already have they're own article.

I've reverted the images to the colored alternatives for now (also, the pic of Kyoya Hibari seems to have been deleted or someone just put up a wrong link for it. Either way, that is a good reason as to why I stress the whole fair use rationale thing). I left the pic of adult Kyoya there because there currently is not a picture of the Adult version. If someone posts colored images from the manga, and it is properly cropped (500x500 px or less is proper), I will not revert it. By the way, fan colored images are not allowed on Wikipedia (just saying).

I do have many officially colored images of the characters from the manga. I can just post them... DarkAngel007 03:08, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If we (the LJ community) find any more decent manga scans/anime screen shots, I'll be sure to send them to you, as I was pretty much lost on the whole... fair use rationale thing. Thanks so much for cooperating! I was half afraid who'd bite my head off or something similar... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mxcreepy (talkcontribs) 04:24, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
New Images

Okay, I've changed both Kyoya's and Gokudera's image + added a fair use rationale to both so they don't get deleted. As for the Tsuna and Takeshi images, I think there are better images of them somewhere because: the Tsuna pic is tinted yellow, so it would be better if a clear image is used in order to show the character's true colors ; as for the Yamamoto pic, I know I said a raw is preferable, however, that image has several writings covering the character's image profile. If you find any better pics of the two, contact me on my talk page. And, I don't see anything wrong with the current Mukuro pic; it's a colored manga image, it has no raw writings, it shows the character's entire body and his weapon, so is there really anything wrong with it?

Actually I posted my own Yamamoto pic, so this one should be fine. DarkAngel007 04:21, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! You've been very helpful. If we find any good Tsuna pictures, or any good pictures of any character for that matter, I'll make sure to tell you. And as for the Mukuro image, there's nothing wrong with it. It was just one of the good images that a member of the LJ community found, and I figured I might as well give it to you.
And that Yamamoto picture is wonderful! I agree that the other wasn't very good, but it was the only one I had at the time, besides a future Yamamoto. Speaking of which, would you want future pictures of the characters we have?
Oh, and one of my associates (why am I making us sound like some sort of company?) wanted to know if you were going to replace the pictures on the main Reborn! page. I could crop them, if they're too big.
And another of my people suggested the following concerning Dino:
"Hmm. What if you put both versions and put the explanation of why Cavallone is probably the intended one? LINGUISTIC DISCUSSION ON DINO'S NAME IN WIKIPEDIA. D8 Yeah, I say put both and then tell 'em why Cavallone's better and then put sources as follows: VIZ and JAPANESE MANGA. :|"
And also, some images:

Reborn! images

Okay, I'll use the Reborn, Kyoko, Squalo, and Colonello images. As for the Bel image, I already added one yesterday; same as your image, however it's cropped smaller and its higher quality.

As for the future images, I already have all the colored ones, and I will change the black and white ones with the colored ones when there's time (I already added the colored adult Kyoya one). However, as for future Takeshi, Hayato, etc, I'm more concerned with their own articles seeing how their articles have major spelling, grammar, and format issues (the person who created them was probably in a hurry :S). After I edit the articles, I'll get around to replacing the images.

Concerning the main page: Main pages are usually just intros if a section already has its own article (like a separate characters' article like the List of Reborn characters), so smaller images are preferred. Simple headshots of the main characters would do. So yes, I'll just crop the current ones, ratio the dimensions, and I'll replace them.

Chiavorone and Cavallone issue:

The official romanization of it is kyabarrone. In my opinion, a combination of both names would've made more sense > Chiavollone. However, Chiavorone is the official English manga translation, while Cavallone was simply a temporary fix for fans since the last name was never officially romanized by the author other than the representation of the actual kanji. Think of it this way, if from the beginning, scanlators first called the family Chiavorone, the fans would've gotten used to that one. Then, when the official English versions translated it into Cavallone, fans would then complain how Cavallone would not make sense. It's technically all about familiarity: once people get used to one thing, they wouldn't want to see it change. Still, I will try to put the alternative "Cavallone" into the article without trying to make it sound fancrufty, but that's a later issue. >.<

Oh, I just found a picture of Tsuna. It's clean and shows the character's true colors. DarkAngel007 21:05, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

... I feel bad for making you do all the work. D: If you could give me a five-second explanation on the fair use thing, I could help you add images, along with editting descriptions. Does that sound okay? Or would you rather work on it alone?
As for Dino, the surname 'Cavallone' makes a whooooole lot more since than Chiavorone, as the word 'cavallone' means 'big horse' in Italian; Dino is know as Bucking-Horse Dino. As for what Chiavorone means... I'm not too sure. It might not mean anything. But, since we don't want to confuse anyone/piss anyone off, I think just adding a little something in about both names would be the ideal thing to do. Agreed?
Oh, and the picture you found of Tsuna is great! Mxcreepy (talkcontribs)

Well, I can handle the whole image thing, but if you want to help you can just read the WP Image page or the fair use guideline. By the way, I re-cropped the Haru pic in order to get rid of the writings.

As for the descriptions, it would be great if you checked over the spelling and grammar on the Tsuna Sawada, Takeshi Yamamoto, and Hayato Gokudera pages, since they need a lot of work. And, I'll fix the whole Cavallone/Chiavorone issue after the images. DarkAngel007 21:40, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will do! I'll read the fair use thing when I get done. As I've said before, thank you so much! X3 Mxcreepy (talkcontribs)
