A good start

[edit]

The Bad Seed looks like it could use some help. Since it is already a "start" class article, though, I'll expect you to take it well along the path to featured status. Be sure to learn the proper way to do your links. For example, by linking to the word "link" you actually took your reader to a disambiguation page, instead of the article you want to work on. You might also improve the related articles on the movie, for example, in the process. Auntieruth55 (talk) 16:08, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I also just looked at the article on William March, which would benefit from some attention. This will make a nice project, combining the novel and a man whose life was shaped in part by his experience in World War I. Good choice. First step: create a sandbox to work on this, and second, put together a bibliography, and post it to the sandbox. Auntieruth55 (talk) 16:19, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the link to the article, now a person can just click "article link" and it will take them to The Bad Seed. The bibliography I am posting in my sandbox, am I placing that in the article The Bad Seed or under the actual William March article? I feel it should be placed in The Bad Seed simply because it truely has no information on the author and could do more benefit.
Yes, put it under Bad Seed. I was just thinking that William March needs help, and you'll be able to at least "fix" the entry for Bad See in the author article. You'll want to "thread" your conversations, by putting colons at the beginning of the line. Every colon indents once more. Auntieruth55 (talk) 16:57, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was messing around on my userpage and I linked the word "English"(it previously would just lead to a disambiguation page) to the wiki page english major. It works, but Im not sure if that was the way to correctly do it. I joined different wiki groups that deal with articles about novels, etc. They have different templates and codes that seem like they are going to be of great use to me. I found how to add userboxes to my userpage, as you can see I started to have fun with that haha. I put 4 colons in front of this msg, im hoping that was correct.
Yes, the 4 colons is right. and if you put an * after them, you get:
  • a bulleted paragraph. the way to do that sentence with the proper wiki markup is this: [[English major|English]]. Then it will look like this: English. The little line is called a "pipe" and you find it in the selection of markups below. Don't forget to sign your posts with the four tildas, like this ~~~~, and don't forget to put in a brief edit summary of your changes! Auntieruth55 (talk) 20:23, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like this article is becoming more than one article. I can expand on the article of the author, and I feel I can also create a new article on one of the characters in the novel, and continue to expand on another article about Rhoda. I don't want to confuse myself, so my plan of action is to work primarily on The Bad Seed and than look into the continuation of the other articles. I created a sandbox, but I primarily just continue to make changes to the actual article. what do you believe to be the best course of action for me to take?

Yes, proceed as planned. You are encountering the fundamentals of information: it's a web. :) The OD (accomplished by doing this: {{od}}) is useful when there are getting to be too many colons, and it helps keep a discussion within the thread. Auntieruth55 (talk) 20:24, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How do you create the large bolded words above the lines? I want to start describing the books chapter by chapter and need to learn how to create serperation.DaisyPearlTT (talk) 16:19, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
you do this by making headings and subheadings, like this:

==Example== for the heading ===Subheading=== for the subheading. the table of contents creates itself automatically. The large letters, caps, bolds, etc. appear automatically, depending on the number of === you enter.

On headings and subheadings, you would not use articles (A critical success). Instead, a heading is Critical Success. Nor do you link to articles. That is done differently. When you're ready, I'll show you how. Auntieruth55 (talk) 17:27, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This has nothing to do with my wikipedia project, but I just wanted to inform you that I was one of the panel members in thursday's class. I sent you an email of a summary describing why I deserved an A, like you had asked of us. I am just informing you that the email has been sent and that I hope you have received it.DaisyPearlTT (talk) 19:15, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
