May 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm SpookiePuppy. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, List_of_music_students_by_teacher:_C_to_F, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I have reluctantly reverted a number of your edits, which I accept may have been made in good faith. There were a number of student names (at least 37) added under the teacher Chaya Czernowin, where the added names produced a red-link (i.e. the name not having a specific article on Wikipedia). When adding names that do not have an article, it is advisable to provide a reliable reference for each name. There were some other names added that were linking to the wrong page, i.e. not musicians and would have required disambiguation to point to the right page. However, these would have produced futher unreferenced red links. SpookiePuppy (talk) 00:20, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

THanks a lot! I was inspired to add them when i had a bit of time but can not deal with this-- The names I supplied were all indeed my studetns, but of course I realize that you need some references. Sorry, cant do this but appreciate your work! Czernowin (talk) 19:22, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I totally understand. It was certainly not my intention to hide or eclipse the teaching legacy, and your additions were not in vain, since a record is kept by Wikipeida. I will be able to consult it to see which names can be added back, but I will need time to do this as each red-link student name will need to be taken in turn to hopefully be referenced. There may well be a number of them that I can't reference at all or to a high enough standard. However, I have been able to identify a list of 15 students in a source (a physical book which I own) that I can use ("Composer Genealogies: A Compendium of Composers, Their Teachers, and Their Students" Pfitzinger, S. 2017.) So I will start with those. Also, I have added a number of the teacher's teachers (and there a many(!) which is excellent. (Again, what a legacy). So I should be able to work in retrograde on the musical lineage to add information on their teachers and so on. Most of them are currently missing from the "List of Music Students by Teacher" pages, but the more well-known ones are covered already. Hope this helps. Also,
Just to add: Anahita Abbasi is not my student.
and in stead of Ash Fure : Ashley Fure. she has a wikipedia page and it mentions her Ph.D from Harvard. Czernowin (talk) 19:00, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou, that's very helpful. I'll make those amendments now. SpookiePuppy (talk) 19:03, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
