A tag has been placed on your user page, User:La Garçonnière (fashion), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 20:56, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Not intended for promotional, only for useful contribution. Thank you.

Decline reason:

Firstly, that username is still the name of a website and thus violates the username policy. Secondly, when you misrepresent the sources to give a heightened impression of your chosen subject's importance, yes, you intend to promote it. Huon (talk) 00:29, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. I am so new to Wikipedia and its functions. I tried basing everything by facts as you can see under the references. What suggestions do you have so it won't be subjected to deletion? I didn't intend to promote the site in any way and am willing to revise the article. I would appreciate your insights. Thank you.

Decline reason:

The proposed new username is acceptable. However, the other elements of the block still need to be addressed. You will not be unblocked until: If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organisation, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 04:07, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's very clear you are indeed an employee or principle of La Garçonnière. As you claim you are not in a paid relationship with this company, I find your unblock request disingenuous and endorse the block. Yamla (talk) 12:31, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Looking here you are described as "Founder, Creative Director at La Garçonnière". To say that "It is not a business website but a personal one. It is not a paid organization." is patently not correct. The website that you linked too is clearly a business site. Because of your role with the organisation whether you have been directly paid for your Wikipedia contributions is not relevant - this is clearly linked to your role in the organisation therefore WP:PAID and WP:COI apply. You have not responded to offers of help made, below, several days ago. I have no confidence that unblocking you would be to the benefit of the Project. Also, we have now exhausted what can be achieved here so I am revoking your talk page access. If you wish to appeal further then you would need to go via WP:UTRS. Looking here you are described as "Founder, Creative Director at La Garçonnière". To say that

You have not explained why you tried to mislead us about your paid status. --Yamla (talk) 13:03, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't intend to mislead anyone in the first place. I am not paid to do this. It was an honest mistake. My only intention is to write about the subject's accomplishments and NOT to advertise anything. Again, I apologize because I am new to Wikipedia and should have done my research first. Thank you.

You have stated, "La Garçonnière is a menswear fashion website created by Cristina Domingo". Is this not the case? You have also stated that this is your organisation. Were you lying when you made either of those statements? If you were not lying when you made those statements then you are indeed in violation of WP:PAID. --Yamla (talk) 15:25, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It is not a business website but a personal one. It is not a paid organization. I did not lie and it was an honest mistake that I've done. Do you have to be paid to write an article for Wikipedia? I have no knowledge about it and I'm sorry. Since the name change was approved is there a chance to grant my status? I am more than willing to submit my draft to you for approval because I have no intention of violating your policies. Suggestions

[edit]

Cristina,

Thank you for trying to understand why you received a block. Wikipedia's policies and process can be difficult to understand at first, but writing here can be a lot of fun if you take the time to work through some of the learning curve.

It's important to know that we are VERY concerned when users write about subjects that they are personally involved in. It *is* possible to do so within guidelines, but it does require a careful approach that is respectful to Wikipedia's policies. Since it is clear that you are the author of the Garconierre blog, it is important that you carefully stay within guidelines in order to avoid a conflict of interest. You also need to be aware, and prepared for, that that even if you do *everything* "by the book", it is possible you may not be able to get that article into Wikipedia.

To respond to your earlier question, editors are not paid to write in Wikipedia, and in fact, doing so is almost entirely against policy. In your case, the admins are trying to clarify whether or not you are being paid to write the Garconierre blog. It sounds like from your earlier message that the blog is a personal project of yours, not something that you are doing for a company, so if that is the case, helping the admins understand that would be helpful.

A few suggestions on where you can go from here:

  • keep reading up on how Wikipedia works, and that will help you understand what is going on.
  • If you will agree to the following conditions, you MAY be able to have your block lifted:
    • Permanently: DO NOT attempt to create ANYTHING in the Main Article space that is about your blog, or related to it in any way.
    • Temporarily:
      • Do Not create *any* new articles at all in Main Article space. You may create a User page, such as User: Cristina Domingo/Something, where you can work on a draft of an article, that can potentially be submitted to the Article Creation process, or directly to the main article space. I can help you with this process.
      • Do not edit *any* article in the Main Space directly - if you have a change you would like to propose to an existing article, there is a process you can go through to request the edit to be made. Again, I can help you through this.
      • Keep learning about Wikipedia, and try to help out an existing article in the Article space. Perhaps something fashion related, as long as it has nothing to do with your blog, or any mention of your blog. Better yet, try to help on an article that is *NOT* about fashion, maybe some other topic you happen to be interested in, but has nothing to do with you personally.
      • These restrictions (minus the first one) would be temporary, and if you follow them, I would let you know if I thought you were ready to have them lifted.
  • If you are willing to learn, and be patient, people here will usually be very willing to help you out.
  • I do not have the authority to lift your block, but I will be happy to answer any questions you have. I will be watching this talk page to see if you respond. It may take me a few days to get back to you. Good luck. Also, you can sign your messages on Talk pages by typing four tildes, like so: ~~~~ Evilphoenix Talk 04:29, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
