Hi Count Malvolio! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Charles, Prince of Wales that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. I was endeavouring to bring the article into line with Wikipedia' neutral point of view policy. "Scholars criticize MRAs for promoting a false equivalence between misandry and misogyny." is a statement of fact, entirely apropriate for an encyclopedia. "The modern activism around misandry represents an antifeminist backlash, promoted by marginalized men" is a statement of opinion - presented in somewhat emotive terminology. Those words may well accurately summarise the opinion expressed in the paper cited but those views are not expressing a neutral point of view. Whether I agree or disagree is of course completely irrelevant. I am a little surprised that because of a single minor edit I am accused of "disruptive editing" and warned of the possibility of being "blocked from editing". I have edited other articles so that it is clear that opinions I agree with are opinions, not facts. If the opinion that activism around misandry is mainly the province of "marginalised men" is so mainstream that it can properly be presented in an encyclopedia as "a fact" then I cannot agree. However I note that it will continue to be presented as such in this article. Had the view counter to mine (re fact or opinion) been politely put to me, then I would have responded politely as I am now endeavouring to do. Count Malvolio (talk) 15:46, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

How did you determine that the backlash statement is opinion? It was written by topic experts—respected scholars who have been cited many times by their peers on this exact subject. The statement is the result of scholarly analysis, not guesswork. Here are other articles agreeing that marginalized men are the source of the recent noise about misandry. I think we may disagree on what is an opinion (expert or not) and what is a fact. As a barrister I was often asked to provide my expert opinion. Whilst I hope my opinion was always based on my knowledge of the law and was rooted in careful forensic analysis, I would always have accepted (I am now retired) that I was giving my expert opinion, never that my expert opinions were statements of fact. As I say we may have to (cordially I hope) disagree on what amounts to an opinion (however scholarly it may be) and what amounts to a fact, I can't accept that because I have an opinion that differs from yours it is appropriate (on the basis of one edit) to accuse me of disruptive editing or threaten to block me from future editing. Please remember that polite and respectful discourse is one of Wikipedia's standards of behaviour. And I was ertainly in no way defending misogyny deniers. I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Susan Hart . In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). There's an "External link" at the bottom of the article to her IMDB page which gives her DOB. If that isn't enough, so be it. 82.13.125.242 (talk) 10:51, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Unfortunately, that isn't enough. IMDb is not a reliable source for content of Wikipedia articles. (WP:IMDB) Its use is limited to external links, like the one you mentioned. Eddie Blick (talk) 02:13, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
