Cluebot III did not fix up a link while archiving a talk page thread
Hi Cobi. ClueBot III archived a talk page thread ([1]) but did not adjust a link at the beginning of the Help_talk:Citation_Style_1#Proposal_to_support_link_decoration_not_only_for_links_to_Wikisource_but_also_for_other_inter-wiki_links to point to the new location. This is what I had expected the bot would do: [2]. Can you fix this please? Thanks. --Matthiaspaul (talk) 19:53, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
- Following up on this, in this bot edit ([3]) your bot should have fixed up this link ([4]) and in this bot edit ([5]) this one ([6]). So there appears to be a problem either with links from the same page and/or with links starting with #.
- --Matthiaspaul (talk) 10:53, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- Due to the complexity in parsing Wikitext accurately, not every link format may be detected -- fixing is done on a best-effort basis. Self-links are a form of link not detected. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 11:15, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- By self-link do you mean links to the same page in general or only links starting with
[[#
(which, I think, would be quite a good pattern to search for)? - In either case, this is a pity, because these are in most cases the links much more important to be fixed up compared to links from other pages. Are you still improving this, or have you stopped your efforts in regard to this?
- If it would be too difficult to fix up normal links perhaps it would instead possible to fix up links provided through a specific template emulating a link. The name of the template could be chosen to be a very good search pattern. While it would require people to actively use this template instead of direct link syntax, if it is as easy to use as direct links and has the benefit that links will be fixed up when archiving, people might be willing to do this.
- What do you think?

Talk page discussion not moved to archive
Greetings, this edit [corrected - see below] by ClueBot III removed a discussion from Talk:Habesha peoples, but the discussion is missing from Talk:Habesha peoples/Archives/2020/June, to which it was ostensibly moved. I figured I'd check here first before trying to manually fix things. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 02:33, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- Can I/should I revert the removal? Or manually move this to the archive page? I'm hesitant to modify the talk page archives at all because of an earlier mess there, following a series of page moves. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 10:32, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- My apologies, my first post linked to the wrong edit: it should be this one, and I have corrected it above. Also: I just noticed that ClueBot III did try to archive the discussion in question (diff), but then reverted itself with an edit summary "Archive failed" (diff). I'm not sure what the failure was, but it did not restore the discussion back to Talk:Habesha peoples. (Actually it looks like it reverted itself twice: the first of them (ostensibly at the same time) was here but only appears in ClueBot's contributions, not in the archive page's history.) I'm still not sure whether to do anything about it, or have the bot come back and do it. There's an ongoing WP:LTA issue regarding the article itself, which is why I'd like to link to the discussion in one place or the other, but now it's not located anywhere. (@Cobi?) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 00:41, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- That usually indicates that Wikipedia told ClueBot III that the edit it made to remove the section from talk page was unsuccessful. There may have been an outage/site issue going on with Wikipedia when it tried to archive, especially as a revision is in the contributions, but not in the history. I'd suggest just manually fixing the page (either the archive or the talk page). If it continues to act up, then perhaps it's worth taking another look at. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 11:11, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks @Cobi! I don't know if an edit conflict could've interfered with ClueBot III, but judging from the edit history there may have been one. I'll manually fix it one way or the other -- just wanted to make sure that doing so wouldn't throw off future archiving. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:07, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Mistaken revert
Your bot correctly reverted vandalism but back to a revision that was itself vandalism or a test edit. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:09, 29 September 2020 (UTC) {{Thanks for telling me about the error on MagiQuest Can you fix it back up? Thanks! I just want the information back up as Adventure Trek information is extremely scarce online.}}

Hell ClueBot Commons I want to inform you that a user is trying to Vandalise Chandelas of Jejakabhukti by adding False information. I reverted many times edit on the page to a stable version I will do this again. Kindly save the changes and if possible provide a protection template to the page to prevent Vandalism. ClueBot III problem
On Talk:George Abbot (bishop) the top thread has had no replies since September 2016. ClueBot III is meant to archive after 90 days. What has gone wrong here? Thanks, DuncanHill (talk) 05:02, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- @DuncanHill: In the header at the top of the talk page, the instruction
minkeepthreads=1
told the bot to keep one thread on the page, no matter how old it was. Now that new threads have been added, the bot should get round to archiving the old one within the next 24 hours or so. -- John of Reading (talk) 05:49, 28 October 2020 (UTC)- @John of Reading: Thank you, I did not know about the "minkeepthreads" thing. Help!
How do I undo my ClueBot III bot from my talk page? I want to return my talk page as it was ab initio. Thanks 2dmaxo (talk) 10:11, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- 2dmaxo, all the discussions from your talk page were added by the bot to the archive page: User talk:2dmaxo/Archive 1. The bot links to the archive page in its edit summaries. —andrybak (talk) 11:15, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks andrybak! Kindly advise how I can un-archive them, pls! 2dmaxo (talk) 12:40, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- 2dmaxo, do you want to keep all the discussions on your talk page, User talk:2dmaxo, without archiving? You can read the archived discussions at the archive page—they are preserved verbatim. You can access the archives from the archive box at the top of your talk page. —andrybak (talk) 12:54, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yes. I want to keep all on my talk page. Thanks! 2dmaxo (talk) 12:59, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- 2dmaxo, then you should remove the archiving config, so that the bot stops archiving, and undo all bot's edits on your talk page. —andrybak (talk) 13:16, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Andrybak, I may have done something wrong in following your instructions. My talk page is now blanked. What did I do wrong, pls? 2dmaxo (talk) 10:52, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
