May 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Magnetic levitation has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): geocities\.com (links: http://www.geocities.com/thoughtprints/jc_page.html).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. July 2009[edit]

  1. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added such as to the page Magnetic levitation do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in this edit to Magnetic levitation. Inappropriate links include links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that serve as advertising or promotion. Thank you. Zhang He (talk) 14:37, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links, as you did with this edit to Magnetic levitation. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Zhang He (talk) 15:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Levitron. Fieldday-sunday (talk) 15:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy because your account is being used only for vandalism. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below; but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

As I've stated elsewhere, my apologies if, in fact, the link is inappropriate for the present reference. I am relatively uninitiated with respect to "Wikipedic" propriety. The first (recent) entry made under the rubrics "Levitron", "Spin-stabilized Magnetic Levitation", and "Magnetic Levitation" was derived from the author's personal web site, which I now understand is unacceptable according to Wiki protocol; however, the subsequent entry was taken from the journal Noesis, a publication of the ultra-high IQ society known as the Mega Society. The organization is of some renown and has moderately deep roots in history, and it appears that it has established a fair amount of credibility, even with Wikipedia. Thank you in advance for any light that you might shed on the matter. Respectfully, Christand Joseph (talk) 23:24, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You were warned no less than seven times to stop adding the link. Why have you now suddenly become interested in discussing the link in question? Jayron32 00:13, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

My interest in discussing the link in question precipitated immediately upon my observing notification that I might be blocked. In response, I approached Zhang He and Fieldday-Sunday to clarify matters. My unresponsiveness to earlier indications of link unsuitability (indications made without threat of prohibition) was based in the belief that those indicating as much did so erroneously, or worse, were kowtowing to a company known as Fascinations. I have no personal stake in the matter, but I do have an interest in fairness. Perhaps my interest is misplaced presently; perhaps you'll enlighten me in this regard. Nevertheless, I feel that I should mention that the link in question is directed to the story of how spin-stabilized magnetic levitation was discovered by one of its two independent discoverers. If there is one link that warrants a place under Wikipedia's entry for "Spin-stabilized Magnetic Levitation", it is probably this one. I won't labor further to garner its reinstatement. I will not contest your verdict if unfavorable. Christand Joseph (talk) 01:32, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reduced block length[edit]

I have reduced the block length from indefinite to 24 hours (starting around now). Mr. Joseph's contributor history clearly shows that he did make an effort to consult with Zhang He regarding the appropriateness of the link that he was adding. However, Zhang He both ignored the inquiry and removed Mr. Joseph's question from the Talk Page. I believe Mr. Joseph was serious about trying to find out what was wrong with his actions, which makes an indef blocking for vandalism seem harsh and inappropriate. However, the block is not being completely erased due to Mr. Joseph's persistence in inserting a link that was repeatedly removed, despite warnings to the contrary. When the block is over, I hope that Mr. Joseph will be able to offer a positive contribution to Wikipedia. I would also invite him to please seek consensus with his fellow editors in matters similar to the one that took place here. Thank you! Pastor Theo (talk) 02:16, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
