Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

 • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
 • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
 • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
 • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
 • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the template.

Welcome!
Hi Choehyeonjun2024! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay.

I've noticed that you've expressed an interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Unfortunately, due to a history of conflict and disruptive editing it has been designated a contentious topic and is subject to some strict rules.

The rule that affects you most as a new or IP editor is the prohibition on making any edit related to the Arab–Israel conflict unless you are logged into an account and that account is at least 30 days old and has made at least 500 edits.

This prohibition is broadly construed, so it includes edits such as adding the reaction of a public figure concerning the conflict to their article or noting the position of a company or organization as it relates to the conflict.

The exception to this rule is that you may request a specific change to an article on the talk page of that article or at this page. Please ensure that your requested edit complies with our neutral point of view and reliable sourcing policies, and if the edit is about a living person our policies on biographies of living people as well.

Any edits you make contrary to these rules are likely to be reverted, and repeated violations can lead to you being blocked from editing.

Happy editing! Selfstudier (talk) 09:56, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:ARBECR and the above notices, you may not edit articles in the topic area. You may request edits at article talk pages, only. Thank you. Selfstudier (talk) 09:59, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you persist in editing against the restrictions, I will ask for a block. Selfstudier (talk) 12:01, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottishFinnishRadish: Um, IDHT here. Selfstudier (talk) 12:21, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

May 2024[edit]

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for WP:ECR violations, you have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of 1 week Wikipedia. You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: . If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

Additionally, if you continue to soapbox in your edit summaries such as you did here, even if you are extended-confirmed, you will be topic banned from anyone to do with the conflict. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:29, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Hwasong-15. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Information icon Hi Choehyeonjun2024! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Katana that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 21:24, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Type 59 tank, you may be blocked from editing. You are consistently making substantive edits inappropriately tagged with the "minor edit" flag. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 21:31, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for repeat violation of WP:ARBECR restrictions combined with a lack of editing competency on the page Palestinian airborne arson attacks, you have been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia.

Place the following on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Please copy my appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard or administrators' noticeboard. Why are you blocked me, Please unlock my account Choehyeonjun2024 (talk) 17:42, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will not be unblocking your account. You've been repeatedly warned about the requirement to abide by the Arbitration Committee's restrictions that disallow you from editing articles relating to Arab-Israeli (including Palestine) conflict; you were already blocked once for violating that restriction, and you did so yet again despite knowing better. But even if that were not the case, I still would not be unblocking your account, given that you have long-term demonstrated that you lack the requisite competency to edit this encyclopedia effectively. Almost 100% of your edits have been either subtle vandalism, abuse of the minor edit tag, pushing unreliable sources, or otherwise unhelpful, unconstructive, or disruptive edits. Even here, despite having the ability to view in two separate places on this page the instructions for how to properly file an unblock request, you could not do so. Unblocking you would be detrimental to the project; therefore I will not be doing so. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 19:27, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges. In addition, your ability to edit your talk page has also been revoked.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then submit a request to the Unblock Ticket Request System.  SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 20:17, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
