Ton of WP:CSD nominations[edit]

Regarding St Hedda's, Egton Bridge, et. al, nominating all of these articles is rather unusual, especially from a "new account". They are short, but may have room for growth. Would you mind listing these (in bulk) at AFD instead? If so let me know and I can rollback all of the nominations rapidly. If not, thats OK too, and perhaps another admin will delete them, but I'm staying away from them. — xaosflux Talk 03:14, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. I've flagged CAT:CSD as an adminbacklog, to attract admins to come work on it, and removed my note on there to hold off on deleting those articles for a few mins. dif Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 03:27, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my comments on my talk page - not all of these entries are identical - I have done some work on some of them so please don't automatically delete them all! Roydosan 11:39, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tamil nadu elections[edit]

Your edits were lost in a vandal revert of mine. That page is seeing a lot of vandalism today due to the interest. On the two columns you added, they have to be added across the entire table otherwise the format will not look good. Please keep a watch on that page and revert any vandalism you see. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 05:49, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you liked the colors. I want to add coloring to the 2001 data too. But I don't know what the alliances were in 2001. Do you know that? - Ganeshk (talk) 03:48, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I made some updates on the article. Please check and comment. I want to see it become a featured list. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 07:36, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your category[edit]

Did you intend to put your username under the wikipedia cleanup category?Dev920 14:44, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oops! That was unintentional, I wanted a quick link to cleanup categories and my userpage ended up in categorisation instead of the link. Thanks for the tipping. I've fixed it now. -- Chez (Discuss / Email) • 03:54, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the nomination of Shaker Aamer for deletion was "keep". I am not sure I fully understood your objections. I'd like to take them into account, if you are willing to take another run at explaining them. -- Geo Swan 15:07, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikiproject India[edit]

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! -- Lost(talk) 03:01, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza[edit]

Welcome, Chezhiyan, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact our administrator general Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work! -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 05:41, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome again to Esperanza! If you want to blow off some steam or just chat come on down to the Esperanza Coffee Lounge, that's where it's at! Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 07:25, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grizzled Giant Squirrels[edit]

Dear Chezhiyan, Greetings, yes, Grizzled Giant Squirrels are certainly an endangered species, found not only in Tamil Nadu but Marayoor too, in Kerala. The picture of GGS was taken by my friend Vijayan P.P. In Chinnar Sanctuary, there are lot of endangered flora and fauna still thrive. If you go to Marayoor, you will be amazed by its richness. Assessment[edit]

Chez, Thanks for the help with the assessments. Much appreciated. Right now I am concentrating on getting the banners to all India-related articles. We should get more people to participate in the ratings. The statistics are big help to see where we stand and pick what articles need improvement. -- Ganeshk (talk) 18:16, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing a change at WikiProject India[edit]

Hi,

I'm proposing a major change related to WikiProject India. I'm trying to build a consensus. Your suggestions/views/ideas are very much valued. Please talk about it here. Cheers. -- Chez (Discuss / Email) • 06:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information. If possible I shall surely give my inputs. --Bhadani 10:46, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to the WP India[edit]

I noticed you have changed templates. I have reverted some changes so that we can discuss:

  • Navigation boxes: You have hidden all the content into groups. Hiding I feel should be sparingly used. Let us discuss what parts of the navbox needs to be hidden.
  • Navigation box placement: I feel it should be on the top so that it is visible right away.
  • Outreach department: I noticed you have started seperate Indian Sign-post pages. Can't we use the templates and newsletters in the Outreach department. What do you feel about redisigning them? I have created the templates so that they are numbering individually, archived montly etc. It is better to keep all content under WikiProject India as sub-pages. That will keep WP:SELF to a minimum. Please give your thoughts.

That's for now. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 15:37, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied here. -- Ganeshk (talk)

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Unspecified source for Image:Indian rocketry.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Indian rocketry.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Megapixie 00:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

capitals[edit]

Hello. Capitalization of the initial "A" in "athlete" in an article title such as "John Smith (British Athlete)" is not correct according to Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Therefore I moved Charles Borromeo (Indian Athlete) to Charles Borromeo (Indian athlete) and similarly with the Italian saint. However, I think it might be better just to write Charles Borromeo (athlete) and Charles Borromeo (saint), or if those are not the titles, at least to created them as redirect pages.
