Thanks, I just redirected it to the already existing article with the name, is that good?

Is there a way to edit the article title name? from "channy" to "chana"?--Channylerner (talk) 18:03, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see you nominated it for deletion, and I edited it accordingly. Please let me know if it is OK now. The reason I named the article "channy", is because although the original name is Chana, it has slowly over the years turned to more commonly used "Channy". Thanks.

Hi Largo, I edited it according to your specifications. Please let me know that it is ok. Thanks for your help --Channylerner (talk) 17:30, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I see you added more information, but about the name "Channy" you just repeated two more times that it's a nickname for "Chana", and then you added more information that isn't about that name but about someone who happens to have that name. The article is essentially an arbitrary collection of facts bound together only by the fact that the name "Channy" is involved. Compare an article titled "Automobile" that said nothing about automobiles but merely gave an assortment of mutually unrelated stories about things that have happened to people while driving in their cars. —Largo Plazo (talk) 17:36, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How about if I change the article title to "chana" instead? As, like you said, channy is just the nickname for the name chana?

You'd still have to write an article about the name "Chana", not about random people who happen to have that name. Here's some information on writing good articles for Wikipedia:

thanks largo for your help. I will write an article abt the topic versus naming people who have that name. I hope I get it right at my next attempt at revision!--Channylerner (talk) 17:59, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well—in truth I don't think it's much of a topic on its own. In English the name is usually "Hannah", and there's already an article which covers the meaning and history of the name. I just took the liberty of adding "Chana" to that article as a variation, and listed the one Chana (not counting an Indian person with that name, which is an entirely different thing) on Wikipedia, Chana Orloff. If you write an article on Chana Werziger, she could be listed there too. —Largo Plazo (talk) 00:46, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Channy[edit]

I have nominated Channy, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Channy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. —Largo Plazo (talk) 16:59, 27 October 2008 (UTC) —Largo Plazo (talk) 16:59, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Channy, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot. The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Channy was changed by Channylerner (u) (t) redirecting article to non-existant page on 2008-10-28T09:10:17+00:00 . Thank you. Channy, I know you did this in good faith, but I think User:Shell Kinney must have just seen the part where you removed the AfD notice, and usually that's an act of vandalism by people who try to make an AfD discussion go away by removing the notice from their page, and the process should be left to run. I'll make a motion in the discussion that the article be redirected instead of deleted.—Largo Plazo (talk) 17:50, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

oh my, I'm sorry, I just knew it should be deleted according to our conversation,,, yes, please ask that it be redirected instead of deleted. Thanks so much Largo. I am rather intrigued by the hardships of using wikipedia...it's cumbersome yet very informative, and you have helped me a lot. Thanks again!

Notice

The article Dominican International Film Festival has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (events) requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
