Help on a disambiguation page edit[edit]

Thank you. I just made an edit that needs to be undone and redone properly... On the James Renwick disambiguation page, I changed James Renwick Sr's title to (engineer) from (physicist)- (Teaching natural philosophy in the early 1800s does not make you a physicist; he was definitely an engineer above all.) Now it, unsurprisingly I suppose but I hadn't thought that far forward, no longer links to the James Renwick (physicist) page. Cestertonio (talk) 20:48, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has changed it back - you could have done that. The change you want would need to be made first by "moving" the article James Renwick (physicist) to "James Renwick (engineer)" and then adjusting the DAB page; but you had probably better suggest the move on the article talk page and see whether there is consensus for it. Actually, reading his bio, I'm don't think "engineer" is right - he seems to have Professor of Natural Philosophy, surveyor (on the boundary), biographer and author of books on "natural philosophy" (which I take to be general science), steam engines and geology - a bit of a polymath, in fact. ArbCom 2018 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Cestertonio. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
