Under the Umbrella Tree[edit]

  • Hi there, i couldn't help but notice one of your other username was PatrickA. Aren't you the same guy who was a member of the UTUT Yahoo group and you had your own UTUT website? Well, from the group. The group seems very dead, but anyway, i am wondering if you are going to update your UTUT stuff, and perhaps some video clips of the show? I have made my own UTUT website now (The unofficial one), and feel free to join the forum there.
  • Hello, and yes I am the member from the UtUT group, and I am the one who made the website. Coincidentally, I just finished ordering the "Under the Umbrella Tree Volume 1" DVD from Cinerio Entertainment, and already have some opening titles downloaded to the computer from my VHS tape. I would love to download the VHS videos to the net but I have dial-up as specified on my user page :(... it would take ages. If you wan't a copy of the new DVD I'm getting I'd gladly send you a ripped copy on DVD or you can order it yourself at Cinerio. Send me an email through Wikipedia and I'll respond with my personal email address and we can talk mailing the DVD. Thanks for your interest. I'd also like to know that website address for your group!. — `CRAZY`(lN)`SANE` 05:59, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well it's a small world. My website address is http://www.angelfire.com/droid/undertheumbrellatree, it's not a group though. And i've given it a UTUT forum, which you can gladly register. It's very new!

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp[edit]

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

(Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp laudare 01:12, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm so sorry. I do hope you come back sometime. alphaChimp laudare 01:12, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you all[edit]

Thank you all for the fond farewells, I appreciate them dearly. It is my birthday today and I have momentarily returned to the Wikipedia as a "birthday treat". I see the Spring holiday article is fairly quiet and things are running smoothly between the editors I'm acquaintanced with. I've noticed your username change as well, AYArktos—good luck with that. I hope I may one day be able to permanently return to the Wikipedia, and until then I bid you all adieu, and I will be enjoying my "big 18th"! Haha!. — `CRAZY`(lN)`SANE` [discl.] 03:47, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy birthday then.[edit]

In that case, have a happy birthday and I hope to see you back here editing soon. JoshuaZ 04:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moving articles[edit]

Do not paste an article in a new name; this loses the history as well as the history of the talk page (and I note you didn't even copy the talk page) Use Move. If there is a history at the destination, this will not work and you must contact an admin (WP:RFPM) to do the move. Thanks - KillerChihuahua?!? 09:44, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Greetings from CIS![edit]

Welcome back. What makes you think I'm on break? Powers T 12:09, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and as regards Winter holiday greetings, if you're going to redirect terms such as Season's Greetings and Happy Hanukkah to this article, it really ought to mention them. File:ChristmasPuddingFlaming.JPG

Thank you for your greetings. I hope you have a pleasant wikiholiday (ie contributing here). I also hope you have a great Christmas and New Year. I am looking forward to Christmas and am busy getting ready. We are in the middle of a drought but otherwise all looks well from this part of the world. It is hard to imagine winter and a white Christmas. Part of our celebrations involve flaming a Christmas pudding, which I understand is not common in the US - not sure about Canada. It is a UK tradition. Here is a picture of one of my puddings from a few years ago - unfortunately my camera doesn't always photograph the colour blue so well but you probably get the idea. It tastes terrific and is eaten with brandy butter also known as hard sauce. Regards Golden Wattle talk 18:56, 7 December 2006 (UTC) (formerly known as AYArktos)[reply]

Your input sought[edit]

You must have had some run-in with Pmanderson before his last RfA. He's now up again, and I've also been subjected to his rude attacks and wikilawyering, including his recent 3RR. Template[edit]

You asked for a dialogue template letting users know that the post that started it all was on a dif. page, "One template that I think would be useful is something one would add when discussing on user pages. For example, if I and User:Bob were having a conversation, he would first leave a message on my talk page. As courtesy, when I respond, I post the response at his talk page (so he gets the "new messages" warning). However, when I post the comments on Bob's talk page, I could insert a template that would read: "This discussion originated at User talk:CrazyInSane", to allow for easy access to the rest of the conversation. What does everyone think?. — `CRAZY`(IN)`SANE` 18:59, 12 August 2006 (UTC)"

OLP[edit]

Yeah, they are by far my favorite band. I started listening to them around late 2006/early 2007, but knew of them because I used to be a huge wrestling fan, so obviously I was a fan of "Whatever." Once I started listening to them, 4am and a few others sounded oddly familiar. I'm hoping their new album can compare with Naveed through Spiritual Machines. Please Refrain[edit]

You're lucky I have no agenda, lol. I was unaware that Wikipedia officially states both. I was only aware of standard scholarly practice. However, I would go one step further and state that since Wikipedia DOES officially use both, the context should set the terminology. A Christian article, for instance, should NOT use CE and BCE. First -- thank you for the pointer. Second... you'll gather more bees with honey... "please refrain" is less friendly than something like, "thanks for your eagle eye on the article. Actually, Wikipedia officially recognizes both AD/BC and CE/BCE, and only says that it's inappropriate to change from one to the other without reason. Since the subject matter is 'Christianity' we should stick with the terms most familiar to people reading the article: AD and BC. But stick around and keep helping!" Now, THAT would have been a more effective note. So, friendly reminder... some people have egos around here. I DO appreciate your help with the pointer. Just trying to help you avoid some conflict you don't need in the future. Best.Tim (talk) 19:36, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of pastors at St. Simon & St. Jude Church[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of pastors at St. Simon & St. Jude Church, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Canadian Flag on CSI Show[edit]

Greetings! I was the one who put the flag of Canada on the country of origin section on the article CSI (Not Miami or New York, just Las Vegas). Hi, I reverted one of your edits on Big Brother (U.S.) because it deleted two references that the article needed. Also while CBS is carried in Canada on cable/satellite providers it is a United States network and most shows that air on CBS, ABC, NBC & Fox are purchased by Canadian networks to air in Canada free to air & on cable/satellite. Global in Canada is a network available to most Canadians with/without cable/satellite. Also the CRTC in Canada has a simultaneous substitution or simsub rule which protects Canadian networks. This means that since Global owns the Canadian rights to Big Brother (U.S.) they can (and do) force cable/satellite providers to block access to the CBS signal by either replacing the CBS' feed with Global's feed or block out CBS for the duration of the program. So that is why Global is noted at the Canadian broadcaster on the article. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 02:51, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian broadcasters[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up the categories for television series broadcasters. You are correct in that categories should only be applied for networks that are involved in production, rather than just broadcasting. However, please note that we do not list US networks as broadcasters in Canada; that is not the established convention for international listings. While FOX, NBC, and the other US networks are available in Canada, they do not broadcast there and do not consider Canada part of their market. Thanks. --Ckatzchatspy 18:25, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick reply. Keep in mind that we're describing who can carry a show in a particular region, rather than simply being a TV listings service. Otherwise, we would have to track down and report every signal available everywhere. For example, if we say that ABC is a broadcaster for Ugly Betty in Canada simply because the network is available on cable, we would also have to say that City is a broadcaster in the United States because their over-the-air signal can be received south of the border. (Try selling that on the UB page!) This is definitely not a question of "protecting" the Canadian broadcaster; that is done by the CRTC through the substitution rules (i.e. CTV takes over NBC's cable channel during Heroes). What we write on Wikipedia isn't going to affect that. Nor is it unique, given that Canadian signals overlaps the US, US and Mexican signals overlap, etc. (Just think what it must be like in Europe, with so many different national broadcasters within a much smaller area!)
As for your dislike for Canadian broadcasters, please keep in mind that there is a lot of production going on in Canada. While much of the prime time schedule may be dominated by US content (due to our proximity to the US), much of the content on the Canadian cable channels originates in Canada. (Don't forget about major US series such as Smallville, Battlestar Galactica and many others that are produced in Canada.) --Ckatzchatspy 18:46, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
With regard to your latest post, I'll again reiterate that NBC is not the broadcaster in Canada. The mere fact that signals cross borders does not change this fact, and I doubt very much that you would get any support if you attempted to add CTV, CBC, City or Global as "US" broadcasters for a series just because their signals were available across the line. As for the Super Bowl commercials text, it is not especially notable, given that it is no different from any other US show that airs on a Canadian network. Look, you've expressed a dislike for Canadian broadcast regulations, and that is fine. However, you cannot let that dislike colour your contributions to the encyclopedia. --Ckatzchatspy 05:31, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not restore the "Chuck" text without further discussion; I would suggest that you seek input from the Television project if you are not satisfied with my explanation. As well, I have initiated a discussion on the "Super Bowl" page to determine what consensus is with regards to that text. Again, please do not restore it before that discussion concludes. Thank you. --Ckatzchatspy 05:41, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seven Pounds[edit]

Hi, I partially reverted a couple changes you made to the lead section. First, "Will Smith stars" is more active-sounding than "It stars Will Smith". Also, for the coding you see between "December" and "19" in "December 19", this is a non-breaking space which is used for month and day; see more information here: WP:NBSP. Reverting Obama against consensus[edit]

I reverted this edit. Barack Obama is a controversial article that is on probation. That means it is especially important to be attentive to discussions on the talk page, including archives. There was a lengthy discussion on the issue you reverted, with a consensus for the infobox to include the information you removed. No single opinion takes precedence over group consensus, especially on this article. Please do not revert again without raising the issue on the talk page and waiting for a change in consensus. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:OLP Live 8.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:07, 15 March 2009 (UTC). Image permission problem with Image:OLP Live 8.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:OLP Live 8.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — neuro(talk) 13:43, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:OLP Live 8.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:OLP Live 8.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

Replaceable fair use Image:OLP 2009 press.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:OLP 2009 press.jpg.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Burn Burn partial cover.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Burn Burn partial cover.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:45, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your unjustified insinuation[edit]

FYI, please do not make inaccurate presumptions about your fellow editors. (This is in regards to your utterly inappropriate edit summary "I'd appreciate if you'd stop stalking my edits".) FYI, I've over 6 000 pages on my watchlist, and no interest whatsoever in "following" you. I do, however, resent the insinuation that I should not fix errors just because they are your edits. Please keep that in mind before making such claims in the future. --Ckatzchatspy 15:59, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, your edit was reverted because it failed the requirements of the disambiguation guidelines. Furthermore, I did investigate first; despite the occasional use in the media, the "BAM" term does rate a mention in the Wikipedia article about Obama, further suggesting that disambiguation is unnecessary. Finally, your use of bold text was also contrary to the guidelines. Next time, please ask first instead of making unjustified accusations, as it would save us both a lot of time and effort. --Ckatzchatspy 16:22, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you are convinced that this entry is worthwhile, I would strongly suggest that you first inquire at the actual article, to see if the editors there feel the name is sufficiently notable to warrant inclusion in that article. The fact that it is not even mentioned there is a good indication that disambiguation is not required. --Ckatzchatspy 16:28, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
