Category:WikiProject Linux articles

[edit]

Hey. WikiProject categories do not belong in mainspace (articles) but on articles' talk pages, where they are actually added automatically when a user adds a WikiProject tag (see Category:Linux articles by quality, Category:WikiProject World Rally articles, etc.). Your edits need to be reverted as soon as possible. Thanks, Prolog (talk) 18:54, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops--CFeyecare (talk) 18:58, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think I can rollback most of these edits (before other users edit the pages and rollback is not an option), so it's not a big problem. I'll get on it. Prolog (talk) 19:04, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I am sorry I am new to this system.--CFeyecare (talk) 19:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's no big deal. There should be only a few articles on Category:WikiProject Linux articles now, and those can be fixed manually pretty quickly. Thanks, Prolog (talk) 19:11, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accounts

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you have been creating a number of accounts lately. The last time I checked you had created:

Can you expProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0

in why you have created so many accounts? KnightLago (talk) 01:03, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first one is my user account.
The second one is my sandbox experimental work-area.
The third is the page that I have my signpost newspaper delivered to.
The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh are all template pages (for userboxes except {{User|CFeyecare\template\dock}} which I use for my dock)
--CFeyecare(Home|Talk|Sandbox) 01:51, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you aware that you can create subpages of your user page, by using forward slashes to separate elements of the page name, without creating new accounts? For example, User:CFeyecare/subpage 1, User:CFeyecare/subpage 2, and so on. -- 80.168.225.88 (talk) 17:35, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, I have nominated all of my pages for speedly deletion and I have created proper subpages to replace them.--CFeyecare(Home|Talk|Sandbox) 18:34, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. This is where I was going with my question, but it appears someone beat me to it. You can do the same thing with your templates. For example: Create User:CFeyecare/Templates with links to the following User:CFeyecare/Templates/freeciv, User:CFeyecare/Templates/icab, User:CFeyecare/Templates/portal, and User:CFeyecare/Templates/wikiguard. Then create the templates on the individual pages and transclude them to wherever. KnightLago (talk) 22:11, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Will a redirect work inside a userbox?--CFeyecare(Home|Talk|Sandbox) 22:35, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so, what are you trying to do? KnightLago (talk) 22:43, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Redirect all the templates to proper subpage templates. So the few people who use my userboxes, won't have to change their templates.--CFeyecare(Home|Talk|Sandbox) 22:49, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Better to simply move the templates and then go and change the templates to point to the new location. It will save you a lot of time and you won't be forced to monitor a whole bunch of accounts. KnightLago (talk) 22:56, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will fix them.--CFeyecare(Home|Talk|Sandbox) 22:58, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All taken care of.--CFeyecare(Home|Talk|Sandbox) 23:47, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Happy Editing. KnightLago (talk) 23:50, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Freeciv amplio tile.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Freeciv amplio tile.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:47, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Bayimg.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bayimg.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 07:38, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of StarWriter (disambiguation), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: StarWriter. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 00:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I created the page and redirected StarWriter to StarWriter (disambiguation). In retrospect I should have moved the page.-- CFeyecare Talk! 00:09, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How come in your userbox you described Wine as "Windows Emulator"? Isnt the whole purpose of the name wine to specify that it isnt an emulator (and it isnt, unless it's become something totally different since I last used it)? Soap Talk/Contributions 01:18, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Like it? Can you please give me some tips on how to create a good box? I am usually always online. Please reply. Oh, if you can, please reply on my talk page. I want your talk page to stay small. Thank you.

New Userboxes

[edit]

Hi, CFeyecare!

I just made a fresh, finely picked Userbox bunch right from the field (seed)! This is SO new, I have not even put it in the library yet! Here they are:

Do like em'? I have a question. You know, a few days ago I asked you about my userbox and asked about some tips. In one tip you explain rounded corners. I tried it, but I get sharp, pointy corners. What is wrong? Oh, please, is there any more articles about WikiText? I want to make a wikitext, well, program-er- ummm.... thing. Last thing, if you do not have a Mac, the last userbox up here does not appear correctly. PS. Please reply on my talk page. Rounded Corners

When you reply, the example does not have rounded corners. Is there a problem? Oh, thank you for commenting on my userboxes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Backtothemacman32 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non-Userbox! Template!

[edit]

CFeyecare! Check out this COOL template i just made:

{{subst:currentuser}} wants to be your friend! Friends promote WikiLove and make people happy. This user wants to be your friend because they like you. You can contact me at [[User talk:{{subst:currentuser}}|my talk page]]. Oh, and hopefully you will be my friend too!

Become someones friend! Add {{subst:Friend}} to their talk page.

Yep. It is mine. I used that code to make the text smaller. Extra Small! Tiny! I also used that Special:MyTalk code to get one of thoes links running. And, of course,

Hi, Image:LimeChat-default3col200.png had a fair use rationale attached, which implies it is an all rights reserved image. Free Software (GPL) allows free screenshots. I removed the rationale, but you may want to make the picture high-res and change the summary. Thanks, TheDJAtClubRock :-) (T/C) 00:22, 8 November 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Tiny Tools

[edit]

I made a cool little gadget out of userbox code! This is it:

Friday, November 1

It shows the current day. I used the Info box along with some WikiText. This is the source code:

 {{Userbox-m|red|{{CURRENTDAYNAME}}, {{LOCALMONTHNAME}} {{LOCALDAY}} }}

Edit freely. That code is public domain. You can tinker with it as much as you want, and when when you make somthing out of it if you do, please send it to me. There is going to be more, so be on the lookout for new Tiny Tools at my sandbox. I called them Tiny Tools. Please comment.

Image source problem with Image:Vidalia Tor IPChicken.png

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Vidalia Tor IPChicken.png.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:07, 3 January 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. notwist (talk) 17:07, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
