IERA Article

On the IERA article, I made an edit to remove irrelevant information. The edit removed controversies relating to individuals who were allegedly once apart of the IERA board i.e. Zakir Naik and Bilal Phillips, but those controversies were not related to IERA, IERA's activities or related to these individual's roles on the board. Instead, these controversies appear in their correct places on their individual biographic articles, therefore they did not need to appear in the IERA article. An example to illustrate its irrelevance is like mentioning a cast member of a film on the film's wiki article and then randomly discussing the actor's divorce with his wife even though it is not related to the film or this actor's performance at all. Subsequently, this does not academically present IERA in a fair, accurate and unbiased way. As a result, I will editing this section of the article again and ammending it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.7.234.231 (talk) 21:56, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

Václav Bolemír Nebeský

I made links from Czech literature and Božena Němcová to Václav Bolemír Nebeský. The article is no longer an orphan. Please look at it. I think the template can be removed now, but did not want to do it without your bit of advice. Thanks in advance. (Anagram16 (talk) 23:48, 9 October 2016 (UTC))

ERASE MISTAKE

Hi Captain Raju , we added the pictures of Arkay Beverages Honey Whisky because this is the very drink that we produce every day, as you can see ARKAY beverages makes over 65 flavored drinks and same as Coca Cola does we have added the picture of our main product so consumers can recognize it. ARKAY is alcohol free and has 0 % ABV. You comments are greatly appreciated and we will be happy to speak with you as often as you want to built together a great Wikipedia page. Editing News #3—2016

Read this in another languageSubscription list for this multilingual newsletterSubscribe or unsubscribe on the English Wikipedia

Did you know?

Did you know that you can easily re-arrange columns and rows in the visual editor?

Screenshot showing a dropdown menu with options for editing the table structure

Select a cell in the column or row that you want to move. Click the arrow at the start of that row or column to open the dropdown menu (shown). Choose either "Move before" or "Move after" to move the column, or "Move above" or "Move below" to move the row.

You can read and help translate the user guide, which has more information about how to use the visual editor.

Since the last newsletter, the VisualEditor Team has mainly worked on a new wikitext editor. They have also released some small features and the new map editing tool. Their workboard is available in Phabricator. You can find links to the list of work finished each week at mw:VisualEditor/Weekly triage meetings. Their current priorities are fixing bugs, releasing the 2017 wikitext editor as a beta feature, and improving language support.

Recent changes

  • You can now set text as small or big.[6]
  • Invisible templates have been shown as a puzzle icon. Now, the name of the invisible template is displayed next to the puzzle icon.[7] A similar feature will display the first part of hidden HTML comments.[8]
  • Categories are displayed at the bottom of each page. If you click on the categories, the dialog for editing categories will open.[9]
  • At many wikis, you can now add maps to pages. Go to the Insert menu and choose the "Maps" item. The Discovery department are adding more features to this area, like geoshapes. You can read more on MediaWiki.org.[10]
  • The "Save" button now says "Save page" when you create a page, and "Save changes" when you change an existing page.[11] In the future, the "Save page" button will say "Publish page". This will affect both the visual and wikitext editing systems. More information is available on Meta.
  • Image galleries now use a visual mode for editing. You can see thumbnails of the images, add new files, remove unwanted images, rearrange the images by dragging and dropping, and add captions for each image. Use the "Options" tab to set the gallery's display mode, image sizes, and add a title for the gallery.[12]

Future changes

The visual editor will be offered to all editors at the remaining 10 "Phase 6" Wikipedias during the next month. The developers want to know whether typing in your language feels natural in the visual editor. Please post your comments and the language(s) that you tested at the feedback thread on mediawiki.org. This will affect several languages, including Thai, Burmese and Aramaic.

The team is working on a modern wikitext editor. The 2017 wikitext editor will look like the visual editor and be able to use the citoid service and other modern tools. This new editing system may become available as a Beta Feature on desktop devices in October 2016. You can read about this project in a general status update on the Wikimedia mailing list.

Let's work together

Do you teach new editors how to use the visual editor? Did you help set up the Citoid automatic reference feature for your wiki? Have you written or imported TemplateData for your most important citation templates? Would you be willing to help new editors and small communities with the visual editor? Please sign up for the new VisualEditor Community Taskforce.

If you aren't reading this in your preferred language, then please help us with translations! Subscribe to the Translators mailing list or contact us directly, so that we can notify you when the next issue is ready. Thank you! Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:18, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

X chromosone

re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_chromosome#Role_in_mental_abilities_and_intelligence

There's no such thing as "haploin sufficiency" - which is why I corrected this to "haploinsufficiency". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nettacog (talkcontribs) 18:45, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Remarkably, this seems to be correct. "haploinsufficiency" occurs way more frequently on scholar than the hyphenated "haploin-sufficiency". It does not seem to occur at all as two separate words. SpinningSpark 23:27, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @Spinningspark: Not so remarkable if it's logically "haplo-insufficiency" though the hyphen seems not to be used. PamD 05:37, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
I think you are right. On closer look, all the hyphens in the "haploin-insufficiency" results seem to be due to the word breaking across lines rather than an actual hyphenated word. And since "haplosufficiency" also occurs, that would seem to settle it. SpinningSpark 08:25, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

Edit mistakes

I have received two messages in the past week that claimed that I made unconstructive edits to two articles: Climate of Miami, and Climate of New Zealand. After looking at these edits, I am absolutely sure that I did not make them. My IP Address appears to have been used by someone else to make these edits. I have made an account that I will use from now on in hopes to avoid this in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.207.193.6 (talk) 20:46, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Apologies. Twinkle left you a template message which I have now removed. I was just tagging a relic page left behind following the speedy delete of a Draft spam article. As you were the one deleting, somehow your name became associated as the creator of the page and you received the template message. Twinkle works in mysterious ways its wonders to perform! Regards  Velella  Velella Talk   21:33, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

What made you undo my contribution?

I checked my contribution on Gyeonggi Province, but I believe that my edit is correct. The National Institute of the Korean Language makes a rule that '남경필' is marked as 'Nam Kyungpil' or 'Nam Kyung-pil'.

If there are some related debate or policy, please leave a message on this page. Thanks. — devict 00:31, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Thanks for reviewing Beit She'an Railway Station, CAPTAIN RAJU.

Unfortunately McGeddon has just gone over this page again and unreviewed it. Their note is:

Flagging this as needing a fresh review as it was created by serial hoaxer User:Itailevi00. (I've cut out the content they added.)

To reply, leave a comment on McGeddon's talk page.

Recent Edit

Hello Captain Raju,

I am LilY Afshar and this Wikipedia page is all about me. i am a concert musician and I think that it is my choice if I want my birthdate to show or not. I keep removing my birthdate and it keeps coming back! As a concert guitarist, I prefer to keep my birthdate a secret and not readily available. I look 10 years younger than my age and I do not wish to have my age revealed. I don't even put it on my biographies of my concert programs. So please work with me on this and do not put my birthdate. It is better for me professionally not to have it.

I found difficult to add the link in the same page. Using that link it was possible to extract more statistics for the subject in the page. If you can correct that link will be nicer or I can take some time and learn editing in Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shashikant.n.patil (talkcontribs) 11:44, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

In reference to you recent message to me about Diamond Dallas Page's Wikipedia page edits:

As Diamond Dallas Page's DAUGHTER, I think I have a good enough source to put MY NAME and MY SISTER'S name on his wikipedia page. Dallas personally asked me to do this. Please DO NOT change it again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thekimberlypage (talkcontribs) 14:18, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Wrong...never edited what you said

Wrong...never edited what you said

I know nothing what so ever about football or Huskies players and have no interest what so ever.

Don't worry there is something wrong as people are always sending messages that I edited something on WIKI when I haven't.

Regards 172.56.42.232 (talk) 15:54, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) Hallo to one of the people who edits from the IP address 172.56.42.232: the problem is that several people might be editing from that same IP at different times. This list shows the contributions from that IP address.
As it says at the bottom of the message on your talk page: "If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.". Create an account for yourself, and you'll only get talk page messages about edits you really have made. PamD 22:53, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
