With File:MattFinnisPortrait.jpg, you have both claimed to be the holder of copyright on the image and claimed that Matt Finnis holds the rights. Which statement is correct? If Finnis holds the rights, where is evidence that he has placed the image under a free license? —C.Fred (talk) 03:32, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

His executive assistant has given me the image for the purpose of adding it to his Wikipedia article on his behalf. This is my first time establishing a Wikipedia article along an image, so I'm still learning as I go and would love any assistance to get it up and running. Prior to this upload (and my attempt to upload the image last week), and as far as I'm aware, there is no existing license for the image online as it is a new photograph being posted.
Wikipedia assumes that, unless the owner of the image has clearly stated otherwise, the owner retains an all-rights-reserved license to the image (which is not a free license).
For the image to be usable on Wikipedia, the owner must place the image under a free license, like Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0, that allows users the irrevocable right to use the image for any derivative use, including modifying the image and commercial re-use, without anything more than attribution due back to the owner. —C.Fred (talk) 03:59, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. Can you please give me an email address I can have Matt contact the Volunteer Response Team on to affirm permission, along with any details he needs to provide? Thanks
